Instead of folding the paper, I take the foundation pattern to my sewing machine and sew on all the lines with an old unthreaded needle. It perforates the paper making it so easy to see where the line is and where to fold.

Again you saved me by giving me a visual for a pattern that uses this method. Thank you so much! Love your spirit ! You saved me with your sew together bag video again where I needed a visual on some of the steps.

Add a quarter ruler "plus" is the one to order with the taper edge to help fold the paper. Nice video.

Love this. I learned this method a long time ago--2004? 2005? I forget. It's my favorite way to FPP. I don't understand why everyone doesn't do it this way!

Genius! I think this explains why I found paper-piecing so confusing-part of my brain was seeing that it could be done this way-but that wasn’t what the directions said! Thank you!

Awesome~ tearing the paper doesn't bother me but this is quite ingenious! Just a hint, you know all the junk mail we receive? The laminated card stock postcards are great for using during the "fold" stage. Thanks for sharing. God bless

I'm pretty new to quilting but have been sewing for over 70 years, mostly doll and puppet making and doll clothes. I use freezer paper by the roll to copy patterns, which I usually do by tracing, but this technique would be a lot easier. I can cut 8 1/2 x 11 squares to run thru my laser printer and try out paper piecing. Thanks a bunch.

I started quilting two weeks ago (I haven't sewn anything for 20+ years - how things have changed!). I thought I would explore paper piecing, and designed my own wonky house square using MS Powerpoint). Your tutorial is excellent; short, sweet, and to the point; my project is coming along very well. Thank you, Mister Domestic!

Mister Domestic I’m so blown away by this technique. I’m currently working on the patchwork petals and doing FPP this way really makes it so much neater and what I love most is not having to deal with removing the small pieces of papers. I wish I knew this technique before I started on my other blocks. I might just have to carefully undo the blocks in order to salvage that beautiful fabrics of yours and start all over again.

Excellent tutorial! You did a great job explaining everything! Do you think it would work if a person used their sewing machine WITHOUT thread to go over the lines so you know just where to fold? And then you can do several copies at once (if you staple the freezer papers together first)?

Never had gotten around to paper piecing but it's quickly moved up my to-do list. BTW, my machine's name is 'My Precious'. Lord of the Rings fan here. :-)
