He didn’t think about quitting due to injuries, he decided to quit because he felt so constrained and restrained by the Royal Ballet, and he had a vision of ballet becoming very popular again, but no one took him seriously. Meanwhile he was doing the same ballets in the same roles over and over and over again. He felt like he had been training his whole life and if this was his reward, it wasn’t worth doing anymore. He had a meeting at the beach with his friend Jade, and asked him to choreograph his last dance. The result was Take Me to Church. I did a bunch of research about Baryshnikov and Nureyev, and guess what? When asked, they gave the same reasons for defecting that made Sergei want to quit I.e. trying to dance in a straight jacket. Each of them said he wanted to be free to work with different companies and choreographers (which I assumed they weren’t allowed to do in their contracts) and each spoke of the grind of performing the same roles again and again. They also each wanted to have their own company, and to do something to improve a dancer’s lot in life. well, Barishnikov directed the American Ballet Theater for several years and did start his own company. Nureyev created a fund to help aspiring young dancers . . . Sergei was able to finish his training because of that fund. Sergei has begun a company called “PoluninInk” and has started putting these ideas to work, learning as he grows. I too just love him to bits and hope the future is all roses for him! Please correct me if any of this info is incorrect! 🙂
I intend to see him dance live before it’s too late I missed Baryshnikov and Nureyev and also Nijinsky; I have seen some great female dancers. I wish him the best he became so good
Right any publicity is good publicity but there is two schools of thoughts on that and it depends on the publicist or interviewer. I see that Sergei is comfortable with you ( even though I have seen him keep his good nature with some bad interviewers) .. We all follow Sergei’s success and become over protective of him as we love all the efforts he makes to be heard and how hard he works for his public to enjoy what he does best. As we all keep seeing ballet kind of being a turned off art as it was becoming dormant because of the interpretations given for so many years ,,, Sergei denotes the signature of his art through out the world with a better understanding that once the dancer learns the art of the dance you have to allow him to be himself on the dance floor and express his inner feelings as this was long overdue, unfortunately they are not allowed as they were treated as robots , choreography and costumes change but, I will blip the rest . ... Thank you Sergei and Miss Bloomberg for the interview it’s great to see him less tensed and anxious . Merci Monsieur Polinun , as you say “KEEP DANCING”
Hopefully he doesn't do drugs/alcohol anymore, but I doubt. He is so amazing as a dancer. I can understand him when he tries to quit because of all the injuries you get when you do almost any professional sport. But when you are so gifted, it is not an easy choice.
He has been very certain, it is the 50 - 60% of the public that have no understanding for the art or the arts . The artist whose skills are themselves producing the artistry , the public needs to follow the art and have a deeper understanding that in order to appreciate what they do and how hard they work to please themselves and the viewer, you also have to understand that he has to be careful as these interviewers look for something that would exploit what they do , so in other words they really are in competition with one another ,,, as he the kind person that he is is extremely honest and very much himself, I hope that helps you look into things in greater extent if you really love art in general. If you understand the art of Ballet dancing watch all of his tapes , watch him on the dance floor and class room work outs sculpture all of his ballet moves in different interpretations of his work and above all the hours he spends sacrificing what you would call a normal life. But the way the best and the greatest may seem uncertain is because unconditionally they never think they give of themselves enough.

He has quite an odd russian/ukrainian accent...just me?
He's a very gorgeous man 😫💕
Lliya biya maybe because his first language is Russian?
liya lawley he spent many years in England.
He learned to speak English in England, not Ukraine or Russia.
Hopefully he doesn't do drugs/alcohol anymore, but I doubt. He is so amazing as a dancer. I can understand him when he tries to quit because of all the injuries you get when you do almost any professional sport. But when you are so gifted, it is not an easy choice.
He is no longer doing drugs. He does drink once in a while yet he has spoken about wanting to change his bad boy reputation
He is one of the greatest dancer in the world but so uncertain. I like him very well.

@@TheDoriseB Thank you for your answer. It is very helpfull to understand ballet . 🖤
would love to see him dance
Antoinette Pryce go for it. His performances are about 20% of RUclips...
It's good that hes thinking of returning to the Royal Ballet and still have Russian connections
He looks like a young Robert Pattinson.
As much as I like Robert, this man is way too good looking to be a young R.Patt tbh.
Ditto.
These two influences together could make him an even greater dancer
😂❤
😂😮
SERGIO.
