It is a good tool - also consider the trainer as a companion to it. Regardless, remember to get comfortable with the knife before carrying it, and if at all possible seek instruction!
i just bought the knife. To answer my own question, retention is a little light but for the intended purpose of the knife and the speed of draw it is capable of it shouldn't be any tighter. You could rattle it loose if you tried but under normal circumstances it will hold it in.
I would never engage an opponent in a knife fight. That said, there is a tiny slasher inside my right side belt, grip forward edge down for one lucky single draw and perhaps a stab. I call it my "Get the Fuck Off Me" knife. I would probably use my pocket knife as a pommel rather than blade out -and only in dire emergency.
I also like everything James Williams designs!
Thanks for this vid. Putting this one on my must have list.

How is the retention on the Hissatsu? Could you shake it loose from the sheath if you were to try or is it rock solid?

Yes, if at all possible. Get away from the threat. Thanks for commenting!
