Thank you for this, a fantastic no-nonsense introduction. This fulfilled a need i had for understanding and greater knowledge on this topic, and allowed me to feel more confident to go further. Thanks!
Very clear explanations - I like your analogy of going to the chiropractor, acupuncturist and a yoga class 'in a blender'. I'd really like to know why you decided to give the demonstration here working on a table? The therapist's use of bodyweight will never be as effective and there's always a danger of our posture being compromised.
Thanks Jill (and AMTA) - I think this does a good job of introducing people to the basic idea of Thai massage, and it included your caveat that the work would normally be done on a floor mat. I normally work on a mat, but I appreciate some of the position modifications you demonstrated that allow for a demonstration to a client who has no experience with Thai massage and / or if you don't have access to a suitable floor surface. I encountered this recently, when I wanted to do such a demo, but only had my table in an offsite office space with hard floors.
What makes Thai massage Thai massage is not techniques but an understanding of the body through the lens of Thai traditional medicine. I hope the western massage world picks up on this some day.
Very nice video. Are you aware of the Traditional Thai medicine view of the body (5 elements and 5 body layers)? This will give the correct traditional view of anatomy and physiology and more precision when using the techniques. Thankyou and blessing to your work. Nemir
Hei dia.. Thax a lot 4 the class I am a massues also but I could like to learn more about Thai massage techniques plse.. Thax.., do have more vidio plse
With a table so low would it damage the massage therapist's back? As a masseuse you have to take care of your body as well. Your back looks uncomfortable.
The table needs to be low for someone her height. It would actually hurt her back if it was higher. I know this is an older comment, but thought I'd chime in. As long as she is maintaining proper body mechanics, she is good :)
Judging from Jill's height and her table, I would start at one step (~1 in / 2 cm) below my normal Swedish height, which is the height I typically use for shiatsu.
The massage is adapted to the client, so if there is any damage to the knee - you're absolutely right, this outward rotation would be avoided. However, it's perfectly fine to do this on someone who has no knee issues.
Mostly yes and no , I do a positioning of my clients and proceed without hurting, very important I'd the pace and the lenth of strech should be assed by the specialists and the experience that makes the difference.
Ehhhmmss moms, thats my moms, hass a cloud purple hass a Pragnancy moms, and the one agains the hall in the hass in the thaem on the Belly my momss hass a baby Boys moms

Not to be rude but I was taught you never use the word 'masseuse'
LOL masseuse is such an outdated term not even used anymore Latoya
Ok. Massage therapist that is. Sorry
@@scarlettchamberscallen6828 definitely never use it if your therapist is male!

what is the table height for table thai massage

Thank u so much
Amazing
Great!!!
Wow interesting... so it’s not traumatic but relaxing
Plot twist 😅
Where did you purchase the massage bed?
Same question
@@oscarlagable You can purchase online at Amazon or Google. Enter Massage TABLE
You studied at ITM in Chiang Mai don't you?
Close your eyes and she starts sounding like Gwyneth Paltrow
Super
PAZ & AMOR ❤️
Great demonstration🎉but I feel it may require alot of energy to do that on a fat client
Fat client are so easy actually they are soft
Klo bs ada translatenya indonesia.
Loved it but also take care of your body as well
I wouldn't rotate the feet outward like that. If your client has a meniscus tear or acl reconstruction you'll damage the knee.
The massage is adapted to the client, so if there is any damage to the knee - you're absolutely right, this outward rotation would be avoided. However, it's perfectly fine to do this on someone who has no knee issues.
Thats why it's important that you take a consultation first.
I'm sure she did , being a professional
Keren
I want to see more :)
Me too!
Hello Lisa , are you a massage therapist also
Yes indeed!
Is this ok for someone with herniated disc’sL4-S1 and sciatica?
Hmm.. most likely not. Maybe just traditional stretching.
Mostly yes and no , I do a positioning of my clients and proceed without hurting, very important I'd the pace and the lenth of strech should be assed by the specialists and the experience that makes the difference.
I love the stretch at 6:30
SO good
Fizik güç gerektiren bi masaj güzel di
Is a good
You literally should never "muscle" your way through ANY type of massage. That's just massage therapy body mechanics 101!
