That isn't a small town. I live in Aroostook and my town is less than 300!

How is access to a good hospital? I have a pacemaker and heart arrhythmias. I'm a 55 year old retired vet looking for a quiet place to settle down.

Yes Cary Medical Center is a wonderful hospital providing a range of services that include care for your condition. They have a location in Caribou. www.carymedicalcenter.org/phone-directory/

SCARY Medical center is a death zone. You'll have to make the drive to EMMC in Bangor!!!

So, if I had to be up early in the morning to go teach in a nearby major city or town, how reliable are the roads in the winter (with snow being everywhere for a long time)? Is Caribou too isolated in the wintertime and do the residents escape to Florida or are they mostly homesteaders staying and making the city vibrant and alive during the wintertime? Tell me what to expect.

The roads in the winter are better than Mass or NH roads, I've never missed a day of work

The city closes at 8pm no vibrancy in winter but every summer on Thurs we have food truck craft fair. Hones are very cheap, utilities are cheap, gas is normal, oil for heat is high, but the friendliest people on earth. I use my ATV and snowmobile more than my car, moose everywhere

Remote workers should be paid a fair local wage, not southern California style price the locals out.

I’ve lived here for a few months and I absolutely love it, but it really depends on what you’re looking for.

This town sucks I lived there for almost 20 years you can't do squat there you can't even ride a bicycle at night without getting pulled over by police you cannot walk on highways without getting bothered by police you can't do nothing there too much small-town politics in that town if you need something you need to go to a different town to get it they don't have nothing there but grocery stores dollar stores and an overpriced family-owned hardware store been all over this country lived many different places now I live 15 mi from that town I haven't been there in 3 years and I don't plan on ever going back there there's nothing there for me I don't need nothing there
