    I live in North Carolina and I’ll be taking a trip down to Florida at the end of this month and plan on coming back with a couple of corals, the flight is barley 2 hours so hopefully everything goes successful, thanks for putting out this video! The lunch box idea is genius!!!! It’ll be my first time but with your help I think I won’t have an issue

      Oh that’s an easy travel then! 2 hours is nothing traveling with the coral, you got this! 🙌

      I’m really excited for you!! Let me know if you have any questions and feel free to ask them in my Facebook group, Reef Keepers Delight. I am using a variety of things that I had on hand from my other 5 freshwater tanks. So Im trying my hand at a 10 Gal to see how it goes. Im not going to do anything crazy with the tank due to its size-waiting for the CADE that I want to be in stock. But the plan so far is to get a goby and a shrimp, zoas, frogspawn, and maybe a xeniz. Fingers crossed!

    Did you fly back on the same day that you bought the coral? How did you keep them if you were there for a multi-day convention?

    • @SaltFishTV
      @SaltFishTV  2 года назад

      That’s the most ideal situation is getting them packed up the day you leave depending on your flight times. In my situation I got them packed up the night before I left (morning fly out times). Most of the times the vendors have no issues holding your coral in a separate spot in the tanks after you pay for them. For my specific situation I got them packed up toward the end of the day, the day before I left and then kept them in the insulated cooler/lunchbox overnight.

    What US airline lets you fly with coral or fish on board ? I am desperately trying to find that out. When I call United, AA, Delta to ask if I can bring two gold fish on the plane, they are so surprised and say "we only allow cats and dogs"..?!

    • @SaltFishTV
      @SaltFishTV  Год назад

      No issues at all, I’ve flown with Alaska air and Delta so far with no issues. A lot of times the customer reps don’t know and ultimately it’s up to the TSA agent and I’ve never had any issues. Just tell them before it hits the X-ray you want the bag hand checked as the fish or coral need the water to survive. They’ll do their swabs and pat downs and you’ll be on your way.

      @@SaltFishTV Thank you so much for the quick reply!! Yes, that's what I thought the customer reps might not be as up to date, while I see a lot of people on youtube are doing this. This helps a lot! I will post my update as well, for whoever is considering doing the same in the future! ✌

      @@SaltFishTV I thought I had already posted my experience here, but I guess I didn't. So, it was easy for me to fly with 2 gold fish within the US (OH to IL) as long as 1) don't get the airline involved - they have no idea 2) get lucky with friendly TSA personnel, but just to be prepared got to have the TSA rules printed out where it says that live fish are allowed onboard, and you should be fine anyway. 3) Most importantly, have to ask TSA for a manual check of the bag ( that was the key). And that's it. Enjoy your flight with your loving pets 🐟🐟🥰
