Phillip, I saw some of those exact make and models of those GE Super Radios on eBay. Are they good with sensitivity? I'm finding many of these portable radios like Sony will pull in the weak 1,000 watt stations about 30 to 50 miles out, but the sensitivity is so bad in not being able to pull in a Part 15 Signal 1/4 mile down the road in some test I've done. The Procaster can easily cover 1/4 mile during the day.

Is the radio in this video made in Hong Kong? Probably the reason for the cold soldering joint. Try finding that in Malaysian made electronics.
Cleaning controls is something you do on every piece of old electronics, it does not warrant more than a brief mention.
