    thanks, just did it with a 600 grit and finished on 2000, fixed it right up :)

    For clarity, for chef knives a 1000 is actually a good starter stone for touch up work, not really a finishing stone, with 5000-6000 being very typical as a polishing stone for both western and Japanese knives. Great results though!
