Canadian here. First timer. I am surprised to see you discussing EXACTLY the same issues being discussed here …. Our dollar (a.k.a. the Canadian peso), has been hammered, though has held up against the Aussie dollar. Bank of Canada has just cut the policy rate by .5%. Australia is living the same housing bubble as us. We seem to have very similar economies.
I sold everything in my SMSF which had any connection to USA. Each time I received a dividend, the tax taken out of this dividend was astoundingly high. I could not sit there and watch my earning be taxed and got to the USA.
I thought the AUD was going to strengthen on US rate cuts but seems a lot of economic weakness showing up in the AUD. Further weakness in the AUD looks like it will occur as Australia starts their rate cut cycle next year and the US puts their rate cuts on hold. Its been a great couple of years in markets but 2025 could be a rough one.
@@saltiplumz2103 they have been doing it for years if that was the only factor, gold would be 10000 an ounce by now. I have no doubt gold will be multiples higher in the long term but in the short term there is a potential for downside risk. Obviously a buying opportunity if it happens 🙂
It is worth 3 percent of its original value. Sure it will be around in 5 years. It will just be another domestic currency like the Mexican Peso. At that point, it will be worth 0.3 percent of its original value. People have no idea of the poverty and economic depression that is coming their way. Saying all this, every fiat currency around the world is complete junk and will ultimatley have the value of zero. Every fiat currency in history has and will eventually have the value of 0. It has all to do with peoples faith in the currency. Once the faith is gone, this monopoly money is doomed.

If Australian government play it smart, by not blindly following the USA n continue to trade with the rest of the world without sanctions n promote the direct use of the Australian dollar, then Australian economy n Australian dollar will survive n even grow stronger.
US property investors talk endlessly about the "1% rule". That's an expectation of rent return, gross= 100 months = the initial capital value. That's impossible anywhere in Australia, by a very wide margin.
You probably know that Trump is threatening to slap 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican exports. Imagine the uncertainty this poses. I might be investing in Aussie dollars!
Ah.. the default rate on commercial apartments in New York is at 10% LA 8% and their banks ate loaded with debts on these. Once again America is going to drag the world into the sewerage.
AUD is dead China has energy contracts directly with BRICS nations, coal is considered bad for the economy, China has sourced new Iron Ore mines. Maybe only LNG is still in demand. Even our lithium industry is struggling. There is almost nothing we export now. Professional services like accounting and financial will be replaced by AI in five to ten years.

It's all about getting workers to flog their guts out for worthless paper currency. It's working. I've never seen Aussies work so hard for so little.

I've got auto Fibonacci levels on a weekly chart indicating $5020
Wouldn't surprise me to see a major sell off in gold in 2025
