      iMad 2108 Indeed. Realistic graphics are nice but what's the point if the game itself doesn't have much in it? I love how the world feels alive, the way NPCs react and how the environment will teach you a lesson if you wear metal during a lightning storm or go to a desert without the proper materials or equipment.

      I find this game technically impressive on the Wii U, not so much on the Switch. The Wii U is very limited with it's Hardware and the GPU and CPU is just a little bit more better than the Xbox 360. The Large Open World, Gameplay Mechanics, Loading times, Visuals, the small details, the Physics. It's so impressive how they were able to pull that off with a System with 1GB of RAM. I think it had 2GB of RAM so correct me if I am wrong.

      Some developers have learned from Nintendo. Square Enix, Blizzard, Bethesda, 2K, Bandai Namco, ect. I understand that some developers want to push a System to the limit to show off the technical potential the Console and Developer has. Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4 is a great example of this and having good graphics isn't a bad thing since it helps with the immersion of the game which makes you feel like you are apart of this world. I've had that feeling with Breath of the Wild, it makes me wish I was apart of that World.

      @@Superstrike_11 I did! Yeah it’s got issues and it honestly didn’t live up to the hype of the Switch presentation trailer in terms of story but it was still fun for the second Zelda game I’ve completed (first was Wind Waker)

    • @backseatpalace
      @backseatpalace 2 года назад

      @@KidAL0 in what ways do you think it didn’t live up to the hype? Also is wind waker worth playing?

    • @KidAL0
      @KidAL0 2 года назад +2

      @@backseatpalace Well when I say that I’m mostly referring to that trailer in the presentation. I hadn’t been following the game closely and I guess I just wasn’t prepared for half the cutscenes (and easily the most interesting ones) to be flashbacks. Also I understand the purpose of making the soundtrack more subtle and I appreciate that but I was really hoping something on the level of the song in the trailer would show up eventually and nothing really compared imo. Again though, it was still fun.
      If you enjoy the other more “traditional” 3D Zelda games and don’t mind the cartoony aesthetic I don’t think Wind Waker will disappoint. It’s got good music and nice characters. I played the HD version that came with a few QOL changes though so the original would likely be a little more tedious. Apart from a dungeon or two not being my thing, I don’t really have any complaints. In a word, yes, it’s worth it

      +pghdave420 Actually old Zelda games such as the original are more about exploration and excitement rather dungeons. For the past decade and a half, Zelda games have been 5% explore and 95% dungeon tasks. Nintendo stated they wanted to go back to their roots and start a brand-new type of Zelda game in the image of the first and they did it near perfect.

    after getting extreme pressure from my friend to purchase the game (it was his first zelda and he absolutely got punched by it), i thought considering buying that strange game that people were talking about. I was only 12 years old back then, so i couldn't watch any videos or resumes at the time about it, so i had absolutely no knowledge of zelda whatsoever.
    When the pandemic broke out, our nintendo switch, which we (my younger brother and sister) had in christmas of 2019, got plenty of games to make confinement less boring. So we got luigi's mansion, mario odyssey, mario kart, smash bros and... zelda.
    For a kid whose biggest knowledge was mario kart on the Wii (our only other console), zelda was absolutely fascinating and my brother and sister even quitted everything they did when i lit up the switch for breath of the wild. As far as we knew, our knowledge was so limited that we thought that zelda was link's name, that funny green guy that we saw sometimes in the windows of some shops... and that was it. It was so impressive and huge that we even stopped playing the game for a while, almost scared of its sheer power to process everything that we learnt so far.
    Playing that game absolutely changed me, and i started collectionning nintendo old consoles and games, with objective to play every single zelda games on their original consoles. I must have now at least 500 hours put into the game and i collected all the koroks, and played the game in master mode. Zelda was like a wildfire and my family now loves zelda music, story and characters thanks to this single game. I played many other games after that, but none captured that feeling of raw wonder i had, and i often find myself replaying zelda instead of, say, a brand-new game i just bought. This is the best game i ever played, and its absolutely impossible that another games dethrones it in my heart.
    Thank you all the dev team, you god-sent incredible geniuses for providing some of the best memories i've ever had... and making me know that the main protagonist's name is actually link!
    Wow, i wrote much longer than i thought... congrats on making it to the end! (also, sorry for bad english, i am not a native english speaker)

      Animation is actually very important in a game. With sound, it's what gives the most feedback to the player.
      If a game has bad animations, the fun the game provides will be greatly reduced.

    I only wish the game had regular fishing poles. I know there's not much point, since catching fish is so easy. But I was hoping there would be some fishing contests in the game where you could do some regular pole fishing and earn prizes. Like the fishing pond in Ocarina Of Time.

    seeing all of the people in this comment section saying "best game ever period" is kind of getting to me, but here is a warning for everyone: this is an honest comment coming from a lifelong zelda and nintendo fan (and also someone who was 100% completed BoTW but hasent gotten all korok seeds), everything you read here is honest and genuine, if you want my overall thoughts, the game is good, the story is lacking, gameplay is fine, if you want my detailed opinion, read the rest of this comment, i will be critical of many things in this game and will use older zelda games as reference, so now i will stop boring you with all this and tell you what i truly think. First: the story of the game, this is one of the most dull zelda stories i ever had to go through in any zelda game to date, there is absolutely no character nor plot development in this game, everything happent (one hundred years ago) and nothing is happening in the present, knowing all this started to get me bored, and above all there is little to no character development, its all the same throughout, link doesnt even make a single emotion, zelda has a horrible voice actor and all other characters really seem like cardboard cut-outs of eachother (except for the champions, they are fine), the way into dungeons is always the same, and because of the nature of how this game is supposed to be open-world, it doesnt give me the possibility of entering a dungeon, getting a sick item and then going: ohhhh, when i rememeber that one thing i saw in hyrule field and understood its meaning, for example, in twilight princess there was a wall in hyrule field, the point was that when you get a spinner you can use the spinner to go up the wall and eventually reach a heart piece, i didnt know what the wall was on my first playthrough, so when i continue in the game, i eventually reach arbiters grounds and get the spinner, when i understand how it works, i remember that wall i saw and understand how to get up to the heart piece, that is genius game design in my opinion, how the world is accessible to you from the start, but some areas are unreachable until later on in the game, because of the nature of BoTW, that isnt something the devs can do, which annoys me, furthermore the dungeon bosses are seriously lacking, like REALLY lacking, they are all named *insert dumb elemental power of something* blight ganon, which isnt very fun, you already know what to expect when you enter the dungeon, when i entered vah medoh i was like: let me guess, the boss will be named *wind blight ganon* and then after some good puzzles for a dungeon (i will get to that later), i find the boss and what do you know, the name is wind blight ganon....... yay.
    next, i will talk about gameplay, the gameplayo f this game is pretty good and i wont discredit the game for that, but the overaccessability this game gives you gets very boring after a while, all weapons and abilities in this game are given to you from the start, magnesis, stasis, cryonis, bombs, swords shields bows etc. you get all this from the start, only thing that changes is the attack damage of your weapons or defense of your shields, this makes this zelda a ton more open, i was looking forward to that earlier on, but when its too open it gets a little annoying, lets take OoT, that game had you start of in a little tutorial area, the forest, then you finished that and reached hyrule field, here you can go to every main part of the game, but mostly all of those places are places you wont be able to get too far into until later on in the game, like how you cant reach gerudo fortress until you get the longshot, and this is awesome, because you might have stumbled upon one of these places before in your playthrough but werent able to get to them, but when you get the longshot and understand how to use it, you will have the opportunity to go there, again, very fun and rewarding.
    now my last point, the character development, there is little to no character development in this game, this comment is already long enough so i will try to make it shorter, no one in this game changes throughout, everyone is the exact same, lets take TP for example, midna starts of as a sassy, annoying dwarf looking thing that pisse you off at the start of the game, but slowly throughout the game she starts to understand how link feels and how in need hyrule is and decides to help link, most of this transition happens when you carry midna to zelda for zelda to heal midna, (you know, where midnas lament plays and you get interrupted by the enemy music), after zelda heals midna using her power, you feel how midna had a change of heart, and this was expressed without voice acting or nothing, a truly beautiful moment in TP.
    BoTW isnt a bad zelda per say, but not the (best), like many others it has many problems with story and gameplay, i still love BoTW and enjoy playing it, but whenever i think about the story of this game i really get slightly annoyed honestly, it has its fair shares of bad moments but i still enjoy the game, its a fun game but not for the people who were expecting amazing story like myself, i hope i didnt get anyone annoyed that i didnt give theyre beloved game a perfect score (you know who im talking about, dude who DDos'd Jim Sterling), okay, time to stop now, please no arguements in replys and we are all a community together, not here to attack breath of the wild, just here to give some constructive criticism. bye and thanks for reading this demon of a comment

      While I respect your opinion, you have to realize that the good things of the game outshine the bad things.
      I think you`re failing to notice what this game is bringing to the table. It sounds like you`re underestimating this game. It might sound like an exaggeration, but we are witnessing another revolution in the gaming industry right now. This game brings something new that no other game has ever done before.
      I`m gamer foremost, but I don`t know if gamers in general look at those things when playing their games. I take a look at the game mechanics and how the developers creates each thing. And when I play this game, I know I`m playing something that is revolutionizing right now. And that alone itself earns my appreciation and respect. Games like this rarely come out and I feel like we should praise those special games as much as we could so that the developers can understand that they did something right and will be confident enough to keep going and creating more inspiring games.

      SuperAvocado I don't deny the good parts of the game. I'm just saying that the game could have been even better if it had a few more fleshed out characters, a better story (specifically for calamity ganon in my opinion) and much better bosses (sameblight ganon didn't do it for me). I respected people's opinion of this game and it's easily one of my favorite zelda games now, i just want to bring up some flaws I've seen in the game design so the next zelda game will be even better than this one :D

      i understand very well where your coming from, but at the end of this comment i said that there are many great things in this game, i can list mostly all of them if i want to, but the comment was meant to be constructive criticism for the most part, so i mainly fucosed on the things i didnt enjoy in the game, but i love this game and i play it everyday anyway, and for me being a zelda fan, i have gotten used to the great story and fleshed out characters, which is why this game's story was a bit of a let down, and as spartanb112398 stated, calamity ganon had barely any backstory in the game, i was really hoping for ganondorf in this game (human form ganon) but i didnt get him, every zelda game with ganondorf to date has been really emotional and serious, when you know you are up against a leader that has slaughtered an entire kingdom, you get intimidated, but calamity ganon had no story, which is another thing i didnt really enjoy in this game.
      again, i respect your opinion aswell, and im not saying you should think the way i do, but just wanted to clear some things up for you if you didnt understand the comment or i wasnt specific enough.

    Aonuma has to be one of my favorite game devs of all time. Just below Sakurai and possibly Toby Fox (don't start a flame war over silly opinions), but nothing less than an astonishing man! Every time a video like this featuring the developers, I always seem to find a new reason to like him!

    A true masterpiece is never something "intentionally" made with the purpose of being a masterpiece. A masterpiece is what is born of a miraculous passion, striving to achieve the best possible product, and as inspiration strikes you, you strive for more and more still. A masterpiece is always incidental, but can never result from a place without the utmost love for your craft.
    This game is a top contender for the hallowed seat of "Greatest Game of All Time", and I do believe that two months later it has vindicated that place. It's very likely we may never get a Zelda game that will surpass this one. I guarantee you the next one certainly won't.
    But you shouldn't expect it to.
    Breath of the Wild is a miracle of gaming. Don't make it a rung on a ladder, celebrate it for what it is. You cannot fairly compare the next Zelda title to this one, because if they actively, deliberately tried to _beat_ it, they would most certainly fail.
