- Carpenter bees are a species of bee that rather than living in a hive like bumblebees, they will drill holes into wood, including your HOME to make nests! They make these nests so that they can mate and reproduce!
In this guide we'll be talking about how you can get rid of carpenter bees naturally and safely just by using water and vinegar.
Carpenter Bee Spray Recipe:
By using 1 cup of vinegar and 2 cups of water, and then adding it to a spray bottle, you can prevent future carpenter bees as well as get rid of existing carpenter bees by spraying the solution around your home.

My backyard has been filled with carpenter bees for the past week or two. I’ll have to try using vinegar
Did it work?
Put vinegar in a spray bottle how much and spray it in a hole or on the bee
I have seen carpenter bees drill into treated lumber ! By the way, What is the container of white powder ?
Carpenter bees definitely will drill into treated lumber! I'd say about 90% of the time they prefer untreated, but I've seen them go after treated lumber as well! That white powder is vinegar powder, you can simply use household vinegar in your mixture though, sorry for the confusion!
Is there anything to spray directly on them? I have been using scissors to cut them while they are on my flowers (not the good bees), but I was hoping that spraying something would damage their shell or wings and cause them to die.
Permithren........is the best
Just learned about that as well. Ordered some after bees were burrowing wood rails
Permithren definitely works for a variety of insects, but for carpenter bees I prefer to attempt to repel them before resorting to killing them because they are important to our ecosystem. But that being said vinegar can only do so much.
I have them flying around a wood shed in back of property,,I have bushes right upon the shed ,will this mixture harm the bushes ?
Vinegar in general can kill plants and is often used for weeds. So try to avoid spraying directly onto your plants, but vinegar at this small of a ratio and amount shouldn’t kill your bushes.
I sprayed wd40 in holes
Did it work?
WHY dilution instead of full strength? A likely query to have answered already. And what other insecticides work sp eco friendly?
Same question? Did you ever get a response?
Maybe the vinegar pure would damage the wood and that’s why the water is added but I’m just guessing. Not sure 🤔
Do need really have knees?❤
How often do you need to spray?
I would recommend spraying once every two weeks. But it depends on the severity of your infestation, if you're still seeing a heavy bee presence, I'd up it to once a week.
What kind of vinegar please
Regular household White Vinegar is what I use!
I’m tired of these bees!
Us too!
