Great to see you and Ken finally collab! The color on Jack's beer was........interesting, to say the least. You two are a couple of brave souls for actually trying it
It was a treat finally getting to meet Ken and to do a beer tasting with him. He is quite knowledgeable and it made this video a lot more fun and educational. The color was definitely different than the original blue moon. I think I said it a couple times during the video, but it was quite a bit paler. The flavor was also a bit lighter than the original. Overall, it was a drinkable beer and not bad for a first attempt at homebrewing.
It's always a great day when I see one of Rob's videos. This was educational as I'm not up on my beers. Will definitely look for some Belgian Witbier soon.
It sure would be nice if Junior took advantage of having that top-of-the-line Spike brewing system, and actually brew different varieties. That might be a RUclips channel Junior could grow.
Used to live with roommates who were homebrewers. They were quite good at it and confided that their first couple of attempts were undrinkable. They didn't have all the equipment Jack does, but, still, if it's drinkable on the first attempt by an amateur, that's not too shabby.
It definitely was drinkable. Junior did a good job of following the instructions. I could tell by the taste test that they did, that they were not homebrewers. The first thing homebrewers love to do is to pour their beer in a clear glass and marvel at its color, and overall appearance. You’ve been waiting for three or four weeks to see it, so let’s see it! I have brewed probably 10 different beers so far. I have never done the full grain brewing that these guys just did. That is a lot of work. For a first attempt, it was good. Comparing it to the original blue moon, it definitely was less flavorful. I am very thankful Jack let me try some of this beer.
I was very confused when I first heard that he was getting a brewing system to brew beer. He is quite well known in recent years as being a non-drinker. So, when a top-of-the-line brewing company like Spike offered him a free system, I was a bit confused. But, they must know what they want for marketing. Thanks for the compliment. This was a fun video to do.
I would give it a “Gud”. It wasn’t a home run, but it certainly wasn’t a failure. To me, it tasted like s watered down version of Blue Moon, and that actually confuses me because Jack mentioned that others that have tried it said it was stronger.
It’s a funny thing you should mention that. I was just thinking that same thing last night. I guess “I think it’s OK” wasn’t quite descriptive enough. I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks!
honestly speaking, it DOES look good, especially considering it's a first try. Witbier being pale is more than okay-ish; I would say Blue Moon is being dangerously close to being amber. Less spice... doesn't have to be a bad thing. More like, this beer is not supposed to have overbearing aroma of coriander, spice. It's supposed to be light and refreshing, almost "lawnmower" type of beer. Yet people new to the hobby tend to throw a lot of spice, thinking that's right thing to do - respect for Jack to not fall into this trap. Another thing with cloudy beers which have flour from wheat floating around (vital characteristic of many wheat beers, Witbier included) - it's much, much easier to get them infected. Flour - starch - is something which yeast can't eat, but bacteria has no trouble with that. There's also low alcohol content, and less hops (that means even less protection) - those beers don't forgive being careless about sanitizing your tools and buckets. I'm positively surprised, not gonna lie.
That is a very good analysis. I wish you could have tried it. As I said… for a first time it was ok. Definitely less malty and spicy/zesty than the Blue Moon we just tried. It sort of was a watered-down version of the “original”, but very drinkable. I was happy they must have paid attention to sanitation. There was no infection/souring that I could detect. I’m happy I was able to try this one.
Blue moon, you saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a prayer for Someone I really could care for
Thank you. This was a fun video to do and I was so happy Ken was able to do it with me. We had a good time and basically got kicked out of the hotel lobby. That’s a sign of a successful beer tasting.
Jack Scalfani is truly a very special person.
I agree. He has brought us all together. It was great meeting Ken.

This was a pleasant review and I appreciate the thoughtful consideration
Thanks. We tried to do our best with giving it a fair review. Neither of us have had much experience doing reviews on camera. It was fun…
What a photo to finish this video off on! 👍🏼
Glad you and Ken gave Jack’s and Junior’s homemade brew a true and honest review!
Ken told me he was practicing the patented Jack grin, so we knew we had to take a picture like that. We were happy that we could review it.
"Fud gud. Pictures on menu gud. Don't drink beer but it gud. Steak real gud, take salad home but carnivore." ~Jack Scalfani
I think you may have wanted to post this on Jack’s SaltGrass Steak Wars video.
@@RobMilanowski You mentioned his reviewing style and I was just imitating it
@@Bob_Chimpman ah… I see. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Check out Blue Moon… we have it all around here. I bet you will like it.
It looked like the two of you were having a lot of fun. Great to see collaboration with a new guest! Looking forward to the next video :)
Thanks. It was great finally meeting Ken. He knows a lot about that beer style.
The self mastery to control the smirk @1:08
We definitely were having a good time.
yeah Jr. did a terrific job for a first attempt I gotta say. Cheers!
Yes, for a first time brewing an All Grain beer, he did outstanding. It’s a lot of work to brew beer, and he did great.
I can only hope we get more Brewing with Jack production runs in future, really refine that flavor.

4:22 the music in the background is very loud here. Did you consider playing a 130 decibel drum track over the top of that music?
That is always a consideration even when no cover up is needed. I love drum beats.
Weird that Jack, an alleged teetotaler, would get into brewing. Good review though.

#boycottspikebrewing (unless they send Rob this setup)
I agree.
🤯
Quality review
Thanks! We had a very good time giving that beer try. I wonder if the home Brewer who made this beer has ever seen our review.
Wow the meeting of two great minds! If you guys were to give either a "gud" or "not gud" rating for the beer, which will you pick?
I would give it a “Gud”. It wasn’t a home run, but it certainly wasn’t a failure. To me, it tasted like s watered down version of Blue Moon, and that actually confuses me because Jack mentioned that others that have tried it said it was stronger.
They should make an aunt Myrna's party cheese salad sour beer
That would be interesting.
I feel like the review was incomplete. You didn't say if it was a homerun beer, and what grade you'd give it out of 100.
4 out of 6 Tammy's agree this beer is necessary before cutting up raw steak
It’s a funny thing you should mention that. I was just thinking that same thing last night. I guess “I think it’s OK” wasn’t quite descriptive enough. I’ll try to do better next time. Thanks!

Thx

I greatly enjoyed this despite being a teetotaler
