The salmon food hack is not a hack. We've been doing it for years in Hawaii. We call it pan sushi. It's usually made for gatherings or potlucks. Usually in a pan, that's why it's called pan sushi. There's variations of it. You can use crab mixed with cream cheese w/mayo or kamaboki (fishcake pink n white). And you would add furukaki (seasoned seaweed wrap) flakes.
