  • Hi everyone,
I just get the new Specialized Kenovo Turbo Expert and tried it at our super spot in Belgium, Ninglinspo. The bike is a beast and is capable of everything, either going up or down.
I dit some change to the cockpit with a Renthal Fatbar 40mm rise and a shorter stem (25mm) so that I can easily manual the bike even though the weight of the battery. It also make the bike funnier in the jumps.
My Bro is riding the new Commencal Meta Power SX and he likes it a lot too, same type of bike with great up and downhill capabilities. same change for him with a fatbar 40mm rise, after this session he brokes both Sram Code R brake levers and decide to switch to the hope brake(rock fall in this video plus another one I didn't filmed after...), we will see if it worth it in next videos...
Feel free to ask me some questions about the bike.

Don't exactly know what you wrote about the code Rs, but they don't work too great on my meta power especially once the bike has a lot of momentum. Thinking of changing to trickstuff pads and getting a 220 rotor first, and maybe just upgrading if that doesn't work.

HI, since one year now, we both ride the Kenovo! Longer range with the bigger battery(700wh) and more aggressive behavior, it's a real beast for jumping , and a uphill monster... If you search the best downhill/jump e-bike, kenovo is the best choice. Hope it helps,

Hi There Im also looking at the Commencal SX Im 178cm tall I think I would be medium. Hows the battery range on the Meta Power ?how far does your brother get?

    • @PierreHenryReckless

Hi Stephen, the Meta power should be ok in medium size but my brother is riding the L for 180cm, depend on the feeling you like, short and playfull or a bit longer to get more stability at high speed and on the big jump! For the battery, it's a bit disappointing if you compare to the bosch and brose engines, with 625w and 720w, you will be able to go for max 50km with the commencal and it's shimano engine where the other can go to 65km. We are using the bikes for extrem uphill-downhill only, no long ride and the battery old much longer on the specialized. My brother has got a Kenovo too for that reason... It realy depends on what kind of riding style you have and the spots you will ride but shimano engine lacks of battery range.

Asking for battery range on any e mtb is a really really hard question to answer. It all depends on so many different variables you can't hope to get a real accurate answer without knowing all those things. The big things that matter I'd say would be rider weight, how much climbing and which modes you use. On a mixture of 75 percent trail mode 10 percent eco mode and 15 percent boost mode on commencal sx with about 3000 feet climb 85-90 degree temps after 35 miles leaves me with 2 bars battery left. I weigh about 210 fully geared up. This is on a trail I run regularly and get very consistent results. I have trail mode tuned down (through phone app via bluetooth) so it doesn't offer quite as much assistance as it does stock, this helps lengthen the range. The new 2021 models should be even better with new battery and latest gen motors.
