    Regarding Josh Naylor, I agree with Jeff on this one. Trade him now, get what you can for him and move on. His value isn't going to get any better the longer you wait. Give the 1st base job to either Manzardo or Noel. Don't get Santana or Yandy. That ship has sailed on both of those players. I would focus instead on signing Boyd and maybe Bieber if he's willing to work with you.

    My big “change of scenery” candidate is Druw Jones. I think he could be had easily from the DBacks and he’s still got all the talent in the world.

    I know he may not get much talk, but I be interested in John Means. He has good stuff when he is healthy, is a lefty, and I don't think he be overly expensive. Of course, being a big KBO & NPB fan, I am aboard the article last week on SI about Tomoyuki Sugano being a good fit for the Guards. It would be awesome to see Tugano here being a fan of overseas baseball. The only downside is he is 35. That would also limit his contract.

    • @LockedonGuardians
      @LockedonGuardians  День назад

      No thank you on Tugano his K rate in Japan is not ideal, I know players dont swing as much there but the good ones still miss bats

      @@LockedonGuardians I appreciate your reply, and I do agree with the KOs. He doesn't have to throw hard or throw 99. Great 5 pitch mix with a KO pitch in his splitter. Most of all, he has been successful. I want winners. What makes is good is expectations. I don't think he will get a big contract because of his age, health concern, and relatively low K number. I see where some say he could be a 1-2 but i am more of a 3-4 with him. No long-term contract needed, and he is better than Lively and I say better than Bieber right now.
      Second, I like to address an issue. I be very careful being so dismissive of others. A lot of these lockdown podcasts last year were saying the same thing last year on Iwakuma and to a lesser extent Yuki Matsui. Iwakuma was awesome and Matsui was a bonafide MLB reliever. I am in my early 40s and not missed a Guardians game since I was 15. I consider myself an educated MLB fan but also an educated KBO and NPB fan. A lot of us are here and could have our own podcast. I never would because I never would want to be on camera but doesn't mean I am any less educated to speak on baseball. I would test my knowledge with anyone. I love you guys cause you're so good at the draft (and the main reason I watch). I mean the Guards FO is easily predictable but love other views, but Locked on Podcasts are not generally educated enough to talk about MPB and KBO baseball. I have put the time in watched. I would just be cautious about that and how sometimes it comes off like you guys are way more educated because you were on a website writing or on here. I don't personally believe you believe you are. You both seem really cool but it comes off that way and not just here but generally. I wish you all the best because you all deserve it. It makes me scared to comment and this should be a place where all people and views should be wanted and respected. Anyways. #GoGoGuardiansGo #RollTribe

    I'm sure they probablt talked about Delauter and Hoerner as part of a bigger deal. The Cubs were probably pushing a deal to save money to make another deal and the Guardians weren't exactly sold on Arias or Rocchio. Cubs would be interested in an power outfielder lottery ticket in Delauter. During the trade deadline these gms talk all the time and it could just be something discussed just in passing.

    • @LockedonGuardians
      @LockedonGuardians  4 дня назад

      That's fair or could have been Cleveland asked what would the cost be if you picked up some salary they said delauter and the talks ended

    If J Naylor returns, can't they demand he do some conditioning? Every time I watch a game with a non-fan, as soon as the camera is on Josh, they say something like "That's a professional athlete"?

    I feel like this is the rare case wherein playing out the full arb years is best for everyone involved. I don’t think Carlos Santana and Matt Boyd would be an upgrade over Josh Naylor. First off, Santana is going to fall off a cliff very, very soon and I can see him coming in and being atrocious. Second, we continuously forget that Josh Naylor is still younger than Adley Rutschman. You say his metrics “declined” this year, but decline doesn’t happen at age 25-26. His metrics “regressed”. We’ve not likely seen the best of Naylor yet, despite the injury risk and the poor conditioning. I think Naylor has 1-3 big years in him during his mid-20’s and I want Cleveland to be the beneficiary of those years unless I’m absolutely floored by a package for him. Let’s be serious, Naylor will be easy to resign as a free agent. All the flaws you point out are clear to everyone. If this team needs him for 2026, they’ll be able to afford him as a FA. The biggest trade candidate Cleveland has is Cade Smith. His value is absolutely sky high (and will likely never be higher) and they could get a mint for him. If he can fetch a first round caliber OF plus pieces, I’d have to seriously consider that deal. Gabby Arias isn’t netting us a trash can in a deal.

    I just don't think there's a way we'd trade Naylor AND improve in 2025. I feel like the highest value you can get from him would be his potential production in 2025 - he's not expensive and is a clubhouse guy. There's room for his bat in this lineup (though some days we'll need to get creative with him, Manzardo, Fry, Noel, etc)

      naylor got too heavy and out of shape, constantly hitting grounders to first or second base. 30 homers are hard to ignore but he needs to slim down and find a helmet that fits if you consider keeping him.

    Astros have a gapping hole at first base and have a bunch of starting pitchers besides Arrigetti (Valdez, Mccullers, Javier, Urquidy, Garcia, Blanco, Brown, France)

    Toronto didn't sell at the deadline. Shapiro is on the hot seat. He will be after Cleveland's talent. Tito is in Cincinnati, and he will direct Cincinnati eyes towards Cleveland's prospects and coaches.
    In my opinion the Naylor brothers will be headed Toronto for prospects. Bieber will go to Toronto for prospects. Toronto will overpay to win now. Cincinnati is in sell mode. They will give up top talent to get prospects. The three teams could swing a blockbuster deal.
