Hi, I found one of your vids on my recommendation, and you’ve helped me a lot. My juvenile red eared slider only had 3 inches of water before, no uvb or heat light bulbs. After watching some of your vids and doing some research I realized that this was not right! I had this turtle now for over 3 years, with no lighting. Also, it’s only 3 inches long. I convinced my parents to get a uvb and heat lamp for my turtle this Monday and now the turtle seems to be doing a lot better! I’m just super grateful and wanted to say thank you for this.

I just changed mine today. I kind of went crazy with rearranging all my gravel according to their colors (grey, white, black and brown). Separated them well and was not disappointed with the results. The aquarium contrast seems better now with the black background and looks cooler with the turtles and goldfish swimming around.

  • @MikeZak101

I use an old fluval canister filter filled with sponges and filter wool, I use syphon tube as an intake for it and the return just going back to the tank, makes a good vac for taking your time doing all the gravel, buckets just for a water change afterwards.
Its amazing how much of the gravel you miss while cleaning when your limited to bucket size and water loss.

Quick Q, I will be getting some baby razorback musk turtles. I have a 75 gallon tank. From substrate (river rock) to water surface its about 10-11 inches deep. So I was on some forums and they were saying anything over 2X the shell length and it will drown (no joke they are basically anything outside the posted guidelines they have for turtles, including species specific and people are like IT WILL DIE. Yet, on youtube I am seeing people keep baby musk turtles in full tanks(I have no intention of doing that). I have put TONS of decorations and things for them to climb on. I personally don't think 10 inches is too deep especially with plenty of rest areas and structures with easy inclines to the surface.

Let him walk in your garden if its very warm outside so he can bask(this is for later, for now just make sure he's happy and healthy) just do loads of research! Wish u the best❤️❤️

when i got my yellow bellied slider, he wouldn’t eat what so ever. the only thing i got him to finally eat was mealworms, which should not be an everyday food but i had no choice but to feed him that for a little. now he finally eats reptile food baby sticks. so maybe try out some meal worms and then after some time try the pellets, sticks, commercial food etc and see how he feels about it ?

@@jaylajames4680 Yes. I could give mealworms a try although I've already tried live Wax Worms. I placed the baby turtle in a feeding toat and let a few pellets and worms float around for a while. She didnt even seem interested. It's been almost a week and I'm very concerned.

I got that same basking spot with a40 gallon breeder but my baking spot didn't fit on the tank and I had to buy extender clips. It looks like yours fits on that tank.... Please tell me your secret

How do your musk turtles do?

Continually Awesome, Thanks. Would you say 40gal US breeder with basking area is your recommended minimum for just one 🐢? Euro folks may not know the dimensions of a 'breeder tank', is it 60x30x30cm? What is your recommended min for 1,2,3,4 musk turtles? That tank is 18 inch deep?.... I guess I need to get my calculator out, Thanks again, videos getting better and better every time...

Depends on the size of the turtle! I suggest using the 10 gallons per inch of shell ratio to start figuring out tank size. Not sure how that converts to metric.

HELP! My turtle is making weird chirping noise (sounds like a frog).. it only makes the noise when its dark and im not near the tank. When i get close to the tank he stops. Im not sure why he is doing this? Im worried its some sort of infection and it’s annoying! (the tank is in my room and its hard to sleep with a loud squeaking noise lol)

Hey I'm really sorry to ask cause I know you probably get a lot of questions you can't really answer, but I was wondering if you've ever experienced a turtle having sort of green/perhaps white patches on the shell? My yellow belly slider has recently developed some on the back and I've related it to him not basking correctly and leaving his back end in the water (I'm sorting this out, hopefully it will help). At first I thought it was shell rot but he has no other symptoms (not squishy, doesn't smell like anything) and all of his other behaviour seems completely normal. I was wondering if you know what this is?
