"Excuses is why businesses fail" I love the straight talk here. I see things change in my in home computer tutoring and virus removal business all the time. If I do not adapt and stay on top of things that is my fault. No one else's. Really good reminder and lesson.
This is just an epic, inspirational video! Mr. Taffer, through Bar Rescue, had already inspired me to approach a bar with an idea to grow their Sunday business, and they hired me! Building a crowd from scratch is going to be a challenge for this rookie bartender. This video is the next level of awesomeness!
I was curiously awaiting Jon's answer to the question posed at 33:24. He and 'Bar Rescue' are highly entertaining. I look forward to seeing more of his new show, 'Hungry Investors' also.
Jon is dead on about the right hand direction when walking in somewhere. I have been in the furniture industry for the last 15 years mostly in saels and i would say about 80 percent of clientel goes to the right when they come in

@12:30 and on - don't blame others, blame yourself: Oversimplification. Sure it would be nice and it IS a real phenomenon, that always blaming others thing. However, his advice works for ANYONE but not for EVERYONE (like most of those money-related motivational pieces of advice). Meaning, anyone who follows the advice can have success, so that part is true. But what happens if everyone does it? Then much of that kind of advice falls flat. In this context, there is only so much any given market can take, restaurants, bars etc (or anything else). So when you have only motivated intelligent people who never blame others and try their hardest, you STILL have about the same failure rate. So that kind of advice DOES work - in small doses. Don't try to put any such "motivators" in charge of a country or the world. My comment is specifically about that section around 12,13 minutes ONLY, I didn't watch the rest (not interested, not because I think it's a bad interview; I was only mildly interested in the subject to begin with).
Michael Hasenstein, I agree that motivational speaking often preaches an oversimplified view of the world and the process through which one can better themselves. However, you have to remember that when a motivator steps into a room and speaks to a crowd, if they can reach just one person, they've succeeded. I've worked as a performing musician and music teacher for a number of years. In that time, I've done many seminars and clinics about improving as a musician, largely centered on practice techniques. How many of these young musicians will actually follow my advice and apply the work ethic and approaches I've shown them? Almost none of them. Why? Because that's just the way it is, and I've learned to accept that as such. One can be the most entertaining and effective communicator, but it ultimately is incumbent on the individual to take the advice and apply the work ethic presented. My point is: If only one person in a crowded room hears what Jon Taffer says and they decide to alter their efforts as a result, than the seminar was an overwhelming success.

Hey John, for someone that's been in the industry of bars and restaurants... Why the fuk are you still coughing in your hand ??? BTW still luv your show !
He reminds me very much of Donald Trump. They share a kind of arrogance. It may be the key to their success, or a terrible character trait. I'm not quite sure.
One invention of Taffers that I really don't like is the "butt funnel." I don't want to be too close to someone. I don't want an opportunity for a creepy guy to touch me.
I’m sorry, big fan of Jon taffer (I think his show is as real as pro wrestling, but that’s just my opinion) but at 7:02...who the fuck waits 45 fucking minutes for a coke? A ride I could understand, but a coke? You’re over exaggerating there a bit mr. taffer
He's so real and intuitive, you can tell it's not just for the cameras. Love this guy.
In any industry, this is the guy you want as your boss.
Damn right man
No, not really. I rather not have snake oil salesman as my boss.

Jacob Ekas The great thing about Bar Rescue is the transference of business techniques and ideas. It's why I used to watch The Apprentice.

Wow. Have a listen to what Jon Taffer says at 24:00 (he's the guy from *****) about why he's as good as he is at what he does (reaction management).
