BA (Hons) Theatre Practice - Theatre Lighting Design

A degree training in the art of lighting design for live performance. You will develop the ability to make meaningful and aesthetic design choices as part of a creative team, while gaining a rigorous grounding in the practical skills required to rig, focus and maintain lighting equipment.
The focus of the course is on developing your creativity through practical projects, experimentation, and taught sessions. You will develop a greater understanding of how light and performance ‘work’ and how to make creative use of the technologies behind lighting and video systems. You will be taught ways to rigorously research both texts and technology, and to work collaboratively on speculative on fully realised productions.
Students create links with their chosen area of the industry and spend time working outside Central, to make the journey from the academic world to the professional world as seamless as possible.
