- For every young person travelling overseas, there's a family back home worrying about them.
When news of the London Bridge and Borough Market terror attack reached them, Mark and Julie Wallace spent four agonising days waiting for word on their missing daughter, Sara Zelenak.
Then their worst fears were confirmed. Now they’re turning grief into good. They tell their story on Australian Story.

When the mom said " when you've lost a child in a store, how did you feel?" My heart just sunk. R.I.H to Sara.
Those 2 moms who both lost daughters embracing had me in tears.
Right? My God, I don’t know how people cope with such enormous losses. I just lost my mom at age 70 and that feels unbearable. A child would kill me. 💔

I was in London almost 2 years ago. Went to the London bridge .. It is a beautiful city and the British are very kind. So sad ....well done story...

Oh man, this is painful. I can't imagine having to go through what these parents have. This world can be so incredibly, and so cruelly unfair at times, it makes you want to scream.
When you loose focus on who did it and what their exact motivations are, ... then you allow by your silence for it to happen again ... and happen again, it will, until we dare to recognize the problem and face it head on ...
I agree you have to face this evil headon to stop this senseless death.

I lost a cousin who was stabbed to death in Spain. I felt pain and grief and sorrow also he had a brother and sister and two parents. I can't imagine how strong one must be to keep on living with a positive attitude in life when someone takes your child away. Somehow here both parents found strength within themselves to do this which just floors me that they had these remarkable qualities in their hearts. My heart goes out to them and forever they will be loving and caring people. R.I.P Sara and I am also glad the killers were killed. They don't deserve to take another breath on this planet.

Yeah, that's working out great. I'll remember that when they're scraping my loved ones off the side of a building. These terrorists are not of the same mind. They are not sentimental. I lost my 16 year old daughter lve never had any sort of support. I deal with it in my own until this day. You never heal from loosing a child.l would say you learn to live with it but l struggle still with that. I know her pain l felt her words of grief.

These parents showed so much dignity in their grief. When the mother said : Can you remember ever losing your child in a supermarket and the initial fear you feel until you find them, that is what she felt - that brought alive what they went through and I was immediately transported back to that feeling

My daughter was studying in London during this time. I remember the moment I heard of the attack. My husband was there visiting her and was in Lockdown right near the attack. We did not know where our daughter was at the time and I remember frantically calling her college in the US asking about the students. Luckily my daughters class was on the other side of London when this happened. My heart goes out to the parents and family in this tragedy.
I drive over London most days, drove over there today, that place where she stood will always be in my mind now, because the situation is really upsetting man and im not in a good place particularly.
But whenever we think our lives are bad, somebody has it worst, not that that makes things better or fair, but yh..

When the parents went to the site where Sara’s body was found, i was recreating imagery of her being chased until her last frantic breath having thoughts of her mother, or loved ones to not seeing them again 💔...
I guess the difference between living in a seemingly safe place against living in a seemingly unsafe place is the tendency of carelessness against the tendency to always be vigilant, respectively. Anyone can know what I mean- To be vigilant means you can always escape from the cruelty of some humanity or whatever nature may bring.
It would be scary just how many potential terror suspects are still on the streets of London/paris.

Sad to say the mums perception that there was no threat from t*r*or*i*m in London when she herself was young is wrong. I grew up in London in the 70s and we were under constant threat, as were other cities in England.

I feel bad for the people of the UK. Correct me if I am wrong, but many foreign terrorists that fought across seas in Syria came from the UK. Most of all flew to Turkey and cross the border. I always wonder how many of them were able to safely return. Pretty scary to think about to be honest.
