Can someone tell me why so many people are saying he belongs in prison?
because he got money from the american tax payer to do gain of function research on corona viruses, this research was not allowed in the US, so he outsourced it to China (Wuhan) in a not so safe laboratory, then there was this whole corona virus outbreak a few years back,(supposedly in a market across of the street of this lab) that made a lot of people very angry, so a lot of people say it is criminal to do gain of function research, and since a lot of people died it could be said he was responsible.
You need to read more. You cannot rely on the same old media companies whose sponsors are the pharmaceutical industry. That includes newspapers, and publishers all who are owned by the same group of people. If you do not look beyond that you are a dangerous part of the problem. But you have to be willing to take the time. Then you have to find a model to engage in dialog and resolve disagreement. Then you have to be able to not be liked by friends you've had for years. But fear not. You will find new friends and weed out those people you only thought you were aligned with.
From the overall tone of the comments a lot have been drinking conspiracy juice. The guy that replied to you said "If you do not look beyond that you are a dangerous part of the problem". Usually when I heard people talking like that I smile politely and back away.
