thanks!!! :D and I've been making my way through some football history books, it'd be fun to try out some of those tactics/player roles.. thanks for the suggestion!
Great video. You motivated me to change my tactics from 433 to 442 and it was something great. Two strikers in this version of FM do a great job when one makes space and the other exploits it. My favourite combination is DLF and AF or F9 and AF.... It depends on the players you have because and I will play Target Forward when someone plays well in the air.
glad it helped :) DLF and AF is one of the best in the game; they're so good together. The AF will drop sometimes and the DLF switches as the lead striker; it's good stuff
I just got sacked from Sriwijaya FC (Indonesia 2nd league), because of my 442 Diamond got beaten. Then I passed the interview to manage PSM (Who just got promoted back to Indonesia 2nd leage) and using your 442, and it works well within my first 4 matches! I got 2 win, 1 draw and 1 lose. Thankss mate! This is useful for my Journeyman save, which already in my 7th year 😁👍
If you keep posting videos this good, people will stop the go-on-holiday-and-complain trend and will really play the game! That would be outrageous!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 a good video you might do in the future would be investigating the concept of isolation, specifically isolate a great dribbler to put him 1o1 with the defender 😉
thank you :) the 4141 could use some same principles; you can be more aggressive with your center midfield roles since you've got that DM sitting behind them
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Gracias. I have an AP-Support and a CM-Attack. Of course, this was decided after watching your wonderful videos about those roles 😅🙂. Gran trabajo, se agradece enormemente .🙏
@@angelobenito-aguilar503 I may steal that AP-CM(A) combo for a role video 🤣 so if you see it pop up in the future, you can be like "this was my idea!" 😅😅
It would be interesting to watch how you protect space with 442 or 4231, or how to beat a particular formation. I think lots of people don’t understand it
Why am I watching this video if I am playing a 4 2 3 1!? 😂😂😂 Great video, one of the reasons I have never played 4 4 2 it is that I find it hard to find wingers that natively play on the middlefield line (most of the wingers play on the offensive line natively). Do you have the same feeling? Also, maybe you can make a video sharing how you use your scouting :) Again, Thanks for the video 😊
yea I get the same feeling sometimes too; it's not just you. And I hope to get around to scouting shortly :) I'm making a new series on a save with more club focused stuff
Top notch content! In terms of pairs, is a engache and a trequatistia a good pair in a 3421? Would like to hear your thoughts in terms of space but also in workrate in terms of defence.
now that's a new combo idea! I would probably use a Shadow Striker with those two (Eng/Shadow, or Treq/Shadow) , but to get stuff out of them defensively they'd have to have good work rate (14+ work rate attribtue). Of course, you could try to outscore everyone haha
I'd probably switch some of the roles around. Maybe a FB(A) instead of a WB(A) and probably switch the SV(A) to maybe a DM(S). The 424 is more attacking, so I'd like to tighten up our defensive and covering roles
really good content bro. is there any chance u could do a series on each of the in possession in transition and out of possession instructions similar to your player roles series
4-4-1-1 is basically another 442 variants. You got one second striker (shadow striker kids these days said) and one traditional striker like Target man or a poacher
What if a use this with a positive mentality, trigger press more often, and dribble less as team instructions? Do you think it will work as a possession/pressing tactic?
I'd use it probably as a supporting role, yea. But use a more attacking role on that same side to give us an attacking threat. Maybe Winger (A) or even put a Wide Playmaker (A) over there.
you could use a BPD maybe on the stopper duty. It won't be a Libero, but that could get him on the ball and sometimes into the midfield. Another option would be to use two Central Defenders and an Inverted Wing Back; that'll do something similar in terms of your player's positioning
I probably wouldn't use two SV in a 442; they'll both leave their position and like Kelvin says you'll get hit on the counter. I like to have at least one holding midfielder. I like to protect those center backs :)
@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker yes, as a Sporting CP and Ruben Amorim fan, I love the style and on my United save I create a 343 using your player roles explanation and it's insane! I always think I can improve it and I tweak some things during match and your video will tell me that for sure 🙌🏻
I honestly thing the classic tip of not playing with a BWM in a 442 is a bit old hat. The BWM(D) has been reigned in in the last few years. Unless you're pushing both FB's or employing a high press, a BWM(D) can work really well if you want a defensive player with more bite as the CM(D) can be a bit passive. I wouldn't go crazy with his partner of course, usually use a CM(S), BBM or CAR as his partner.
thanks for the tip/counter argument :) I think you bring up a good point in that if you think about your pairings you could make the BWM a useful addition
I tried Premier League for the first time with Man Utd and I can't make it work like I want, despite trying different things. Martial seems weak, Rashford/Sancho as a Raumdeuter are useless. I have one interesting striker, Hojlund, whom I wanted to use as a target man, but he doesn't get the ball and doesn't perform well enough. I move Fernandes around with no effect and use Casemiro as BWM, which doesn't help. And the FB/WBs are non existent, very disappointing. I'm thinking about playing without them, with IFB or IWB instead, but then I'd need to use wingers on both sides. Stopped playing for now, very frustrating.
Yea the game can be frustrating for sure... sometimes it seems nothing works. I will say, I've done some work with Man United and they can be super finnicky and inconsistent. Especially the attacking players; some players can only play in one role, or one position. Really tough

4-4-1-1 is basically another 442 variants. You got one second striker (shadow striker kids these days said) and one traditional striker like Target man or a poacher
the 442 is versatile to adjustments like you mention. You could do a 442, 4411, 4141, or 424 without much work
What if a use this with a positive mentality, trigger press more often, and dribble less as team instructions? Do you think it will work as a possession/pressing tactic?
442 is excellent for pressing
Yea the 442 is amazing for pressing. Especially if you use those two Pressing Forwards
cam you do something with narrow formation?
hope to have something on a 442 diamond in the future :) thank you for the suggestion
So if you used a BWM either on support or defend you would still want someone just dedicated to coverage?
I'd use it probably as a supporting role, yea. But use a more attacking role on that same side to give us an attacking threat. Maybe Winger (A) or even put a Wide Playmaker (A) over there.
@ is your other midfielder a defend duty to help screen for the bwm’s aggressive destroyer behavior?

Thanks a lot, will try to find a half decent BPD....kudos to you!!
what about playing two segundo volante one on support and one on attack
Not in a 442 I wouldn't. You need one to sit or you'll get picked off centrally on the counter especially by systems with an AM
