I like how this universe is like a 95% parallel to Thomas and the corrupted railroad but the survivors and corrupted are switched like Molly and James for example.

As in, he saw them at Tidmouth Sheds but didn't have the time to whistle a warning for them to get out of their. He must feel extreme guilt at them potentially perishing. It was just a moment of 'what I could've done' for Duck and that's why the guilt keeps boiling up inside of him. They just heard it and James decided to follow Duck in the direction he was going, but Molly never could as the turntable wasn't set right, or that's what Duck thought. 2. Duck noticed Diesel in the yards but was too bitter to warn him. Only when he felt pitty, did Diesel get corrupted. 3. In Duck's case, the darkness is a metaphore for loosing hope and joy. Duck is all about perfectionism and if things don't go his way, the world will collapse behind him, just like his hope which is why Emily just left Duck behind at Tidmouth - a symbolism of being on your own,just like the void. Lil theory: duck doesn’t have the scar thingy in the thumbnail when he wakes ups. My theory is that he hallucinated during his runaway and never got attacked by the corruption. It might have been all the pressure from his mind to go faster (Probably because of remembering the events of close shave) which made him think that he was attacked by it. The thumbnail is basically what duck thinks he looks like.
That's a good theory, but sadly it's actually there, the only reason I didn't show it when he woke up was because I don't know how to properly animate it.
