Man, The Time War really changed the Doctor, as he was then acting just like how the Master did. Maybe this was supposed to be the Birth of the Valeyard.

It's called the Vale because perhaps this is the birth of the valeyard

I'm pretty sure its just the Latin for Goodbye, as the song that plays during Ten's final moments is called Vale Decem which is "Goodbye Ten" in Latin.
But that is actually a really cool theory that I had never ever thought about before, of course since the Valeyard is explained to be a manifestation of the Doctors evil between the 12th and 13th incarnation, and as we know The War Doctor and Ten's metacrisis, that means Ten can be the possible birthplace of the Valeyard.
I would love to see an episode of the show bringing the Valeyard back so we can explore just how twisted this manifestation could have been had Ten not have been stopped in his tracks here.
