Flight lead apparently has Superman vision. Because how the h**l he saw that that halftrack from a dozen country miles away, through the fog, I'll never know. Jesus. Lol.
I know, it’s just a game, but I’d still feel anxious attacking an undefended train in those circumstances. I was willing you not to do strafing runs on the cattle cars, once the loco’s done you’re good. Too much risk of taking out POW’s or other prisoners being moved. I suppose that the immersion is so impressive to as make me worry that way is a good thing though!
@wolfpack345...thank you for the medal of honor throwback...my dad used to play that game alot b4 he left us. Much much love man ..brings back lots of memories
At about 4:52 does that dialogue say "okay goody"? I remember reading Tumult In The Clouds by James "Goody" Goodson about his time in the air force flying P47's and P51's. I hadn't clicked until now that of course this was his unit. I highly recommend the book some really interesting stories he has to tell!
Agree! ... BUT ... maybe, just maybe ... Lead figured there would be too much AAA for a flight of four, especially an AI flight and/or their current skill level. Maybe with more flights, more experience, and maybe even an entire squadron they could co-ordinate an attack from multiple vectors to spread the AAA. But that was awfully juicy, to even "lob" a few hundred .50 rounds in from max distance.
Read the an account of a Canadian soldier who was taken POW within the first couple of D-Day. Disarmed, searched and sent behind German lines, they were loaded into cattle cars with other allied POWs to be shipped East towards Germany. He said the sound of allied fighter and attacker planes scared the daylights out of everyone, as they were prime targets locked in their cattle cars. Most of the time train would slow down or stop during an air attack and their German guards would book it away from the train to hide on the railway siding, leaving the POWs quite helpless.
Interesting... Based on Pierre Closterman's book the germans were defending their airfields like a swarm of hornets and their flak was horrific; he had to fly a Spitfire Mk5 "clipped-clapped-crapped" against Fw-190 and Me109s (i don't remember what variant it was during that time). Until they recieved Spits Mk-9, they were buggered...
That would have been well before D-Day. The Mk9 was in service for a while by the time of D-Day. It was actually created in response to the MkV getting absolutely dominated by the 190 (which was making its combat debut) over Dieppe in 1942.
It sounds like Medal of Honor, Smells Like Kenosha and YT/Google again fails loading the fricken video fast enough to serve it in a watchable state. Almost perfect.
There isn't any way flight lead actually saw that truck. It was just an excuse to hit the deck and go looking for targets! That's what makes a good leader. LOL
After the last few missions I asked myself who is flight planning these missions because it is not seeming right. Funny enough during your mission about half way through you kind stumbled upon the same conclusion after you dropped your drop tanks and realized your flight lead didn't. As a pilot in real life I had some time on my hands to geek out and run the numbers and I am interested if anyone else did as well and what you got if different. 5 mins into the video I paused it and made a flight plan with the information of what you had provided during that time. I notice you don't use the RIC and clock while flying to navigate and manage fuel burn during the flight but to each there own on the immersion. Anyhow I calculated your trip based on the mission would have been roughly 1:27 mins, roughly 436nm without any diversions. Based on the aircrafts POH you wouldn't even need the drop tanks for the bombers target, matter of fact it would have been more productive if you would would have carried rockets in case of opportune targets. Which happens on every flight across the channel 😅. Your weight and balance would also be fine for takeoff with 215 gals (no weather alternate required) + 4-6 x rockets. So the drop tanks in the sim are really not needed yet unless your pushing deep into France. BTW awesome recommendation for the AuthentiKit.org ppl.
ive been following you for a while now, and i must say, do you have or have made anything a little more exciting?. I dont remember these flights being this boring. what happened?

Yet somehow didn't see the enemy airfield he was orbiting for five minutes in broad daylight...
@@Raptor747 or that last mission/video he caused 2 of his guys to collide
He's been eating his carrots 😄
6.45 Stabilize your rear deflectors...Watch for enemy fighters
They are coming in! 3 marks at 2;10!

I really enjoy the exchange of ideas and perspectives on this thread. It's intellectually stimulating.🙂
Fuck that halftrack! 123 letzgo
Nice video. The train was shot. The hunt was successful.

Believe it or not, the phrase is actually "champing at the bit," not chomping.
foaming at the mouth over those Ju-88's on the deck

I always worry about your ground attacks, especially that "one last pass."
Another strafing video that did NOT make me grab my chair arms and scream "pull upppp!". Thank you for being kind to your viewers! 😀
2.50, first time I've ever heard it called the "Island of Wight"
Great videos, very immersive

Great video!
doing much better with formation flying wolfpack
I dont remember this episode from Masters of the Air :p
You got a little too close to shooting yourself down, flying through the smoke from the exploding ammo carriage.
War on the sea video today?
What all DLC do you need for this?
2.12 did blud call it the island of wight?
Never played DCS, how do vehicle skins work? How much control does the player/mission maker have over them in singleplayer vs multiplayer?
please do a IAR 80/81 campaign in IL2
Are these missions dynamic? Meaning, was it a random happenstance for the bombers to scrub their mission? For your flight to spot a train at the end?
No, they're created from actual mission logs for this squadron and run in order of how the events actually happened.
will be uboat ?
b-17 bombardement never was effective anyway
Fuck, the bots got here before the viewers
Report them
ive been following you for a while now, and i must say, do you have or have made anything a little more exciting?. I dont remember these flights being this boring. what happened?
*tags train slightly* *train stops on a dime* - That's not how trains work. lol
Spoiler
About your wing... I think this is why you don't want to be too close to exploding ammunition transports ^,^
Love the content. More War on the Seas? Cheers from Estonia
Man you really been shitting out content XD
I was excited to see some large formations and or some German resistance. These episodes are kinda boring.
DCS has 10 x worse AI than 20 year old combat sims. so incredibly sad....
