Upsell upsell upsell!! You can add a huge amount of yearly profits with upselling handyman work. So many little things wrong with houses that are missed. Or even seeing something els wrong when you’re at a rental fixing a random item. Awesome video man. Keep on rockin’
I was getting a lot of work from a property management company and in just the past week had the same problem. We had a few tiffs, and they suddenly dropped and ghosted me, and they were my biggest source of work. I've got 12 folders sitting on my desk with all my articles of organization. I think you know what I'm about to do :) - but it's not all bad, I still get a trickle of homeowners and on the rare occasion, business owners, who contact me to do little jobs here and there.
A mistake I made was agreeing to use the property owners left over materials to build a large L shaped outside bbq/cook station. They wanted a stone & mortar job on the outside of the bbq and then these huge modern looking tile pieces on the inside because that's what they had laying around from multiple properties. It ended up being a huge headache because I built the whole thing without knowing the tile size in advance, or the quanitity on hand, it was hard to go from the stone to the tile aesthetically. End of the day the whole thing just looked stupid. I've been learning the hard way it's not your job to agree to a homeowners terrible idea. If they won't agree to a process and a design that makes sense there is a slim chance either party will be happy in the end.

Thanks! I agree completely. I'm embarrassed that I avoided upselling for so long.

@@bulletproofhandyman did you ever release a sign up form for the meet and greet on Tues in Denver?
Yes there was one.
Ah my first Chuck with a Truck Anonymous meeting
Welcome
Don't always charge hourly. figure out what you should charge per the job.
Watch his videos on why not to charge an hourly rate for everything.
Thanks!
I have a question regarding the trip fee is that extra or baked into the labor cost
Baked in on small jobs, explicit on larger jobs.
Sounds like they were still figuring it out too. 😅
Maybe!
