- Held Carese II Gore-Tex Jacket Review www.revzilla.co... Spring has sprung in northeastern North America, and for many riders this means ever-changing weather forecasts and temperatures that refuse to stay constant from day to day. A new addition to the all-weather jacket market, the Held Carese II offers protection from the elements and multi-season versatility. The Carese II Jacket has a 500D Cordura shell with a removable Gore-Tex waterproof inner jacket. The elbow and shoulder armor is CE-rated SAS-TEC and the back pocket will accept a SAS-TEC back protector, as well. Besides the usual black color option, Held is offering the Carese II Jacket in grey and orange for the KTM crowd, as well as a grey and blue option for BMW aficionados.
Dear RevZilla Crew. I'm a guy from Austria and no matter WHICH piece of equip I look for - YOU ladys and gents have the apropriate report for it. I think that I really already viewed about 100 videos regarding equip that I would like to buy ;) If I would live in the states, I'd just order from you! Big respect to you folks!! Greetings from the snowy mountains, lovely valleys and bad ass mountain roads ;) The friendly KTM 1190 Adventure rider ;)
The arm straps pull the vents open. That's why they do not cross the vents, they would close the vents.
just bought it today. The price is quite daunting but before I tried it on in the shop, I tried cheaper jackets (about 250€) and they didn't fit at all. Either the protectors are inconvenient or the sleeves were to tight or something else. When I tried this jacket I thought it is tailor-made only for me! So I swallowed the bitter pill of 500€ (with an discount of 100€) and be delighted to test the Carese II soon
I went down lowside at 130kph wearing the original Carese jacket. It saved my skin for sure. Without hesitation, I replaced it with a Carese II. I love Held's attention to detail and standards for excellent products. Although Anthony may prefer a zipper on the front pockets, it's good that he acknowledges the fact that they're water-proof (so, why a zipper, then??)... and, I'd like to point out, NOT having a zipper makes them easily accessible while riding. The singular complaint I have is very minor: the cell phone pouch is too small to fit any smart phone. Yeah, that's my one and only complaint. Other than that, it's simply perfection.
BMWrider I am riding in the Carese II as well. I love Held! -Hi-Viz Brian
This product compared to REV'IT! Poseidon GTX Jacket is better ventilation riding in hot weather 50 degree Celsius and better quality finish?
Youssef Qassem Their quality is about the same (high quality), but ventilation is better in the Held. -Hi-Viz Brian
Hey guys, after almost 5 years, have you found any other jackets that are better than this in your opinion or you keep your statement?
If you want a removable liner like the Carese II uses, then the REV'IT! Neptune 2 and Dainese Dolomiti perform as well as or better than the Held but are more affordable, so I might recommend those two over the Held now. -DrewZilla

Dear RevZilla Crew,
Would Held Carese II Gore-Tex Jacket keep me warm with the temperature 0'C - 5'C. To compare with Joe Rocket Ballistic Adventure Jacket (I'm not talking about the price).
I couldn't afford with cold weather.
Thank you so much.
And compared to Rev'it Defender Pro? Wich would you choose for hard trail days and all weather conditions ;) I like wearing Dainese Manis back protector instead of inner back protectors. What do you think about?
+JotX 1200z I like the Held Carese II a bit more than the REV'IT! Defender Pro, as the Held has a bit more ventilation, which should help more on the hard trail days. -DrewZilla
Is this jacket waterproof from the outside or does wearing the inner liner make it waterproof from the inside? So if I wore this jacket without any inner liner in heavy rain would I get wet and would the jacket stay wet throughout the day?
Tom Sinclair The shell is water resistant to a point, but the true waterproofing is on the inside by way of a removable Gore-Tex liner. If you get caught in a short shower I think you'd be okay, but any kind of sustained rain and you'd get wet. The material drys fairly quickly and wouldn't soak up a lot of water like cotton would. -Kraus-e
RevZilla Thanks! Are all jackets the same in that they need a liner to keep the body waterproof but the jacket isn't waterproof itself? Trying to decide between Held Carese II and Revit Outback. Huge price difference! Worth it?
Tom Sinclair If you have 5 -10 minutes, I recommend giving our Gear Geeks a call at 1-877-792-9455. They can give you some great insight regarding the different waterproof options available based on your riding style / conditions. The Held Carese II and REV'IT! Outback jackets have removable waterproof liners. However, waterproof exterior shells do exist. For example, have a look at the Klim jackets listed below. They have waterproof shells. -Hi-Viz Brian

Tom Sinclair RevZilla The GoreTex liner that comes with the jacket can be zipped in as you would expect and keep you dry but leave the outer jacket exposed as with most liner constructions BUT ALSO can be worn over the jacket to keep rider and jacket dry. This is explicitly promoted by Held so you can be sure the cut and materials of the liner allow that. Personally I only zip the liner in as a wind stopper in colder conditions but wear it over the jacket for rain protection. This also has the benefit that you can quickly apply the liner without taking the jacket off. What sets the liner apart from a simple plastic rain-stopper jacket when worn like this is that it still breathes. This also goes for the Torno II pants.
They call this "over and under technology".
How does this product stack up against the Held Montero jacket? I am thinking of buying the Montero jacket, but it is not reviewed by Revzilla sadly enough.
daxxad The Held Carese II has more exterior pockets, more stretch, and more vents. -Hi-Viz Brian
hi. That pants fits the Carese 2 Jacket. thanks.
Held carese 2 vs first gear kathmandu which one would you suggest? And which is best?
If you're on a budget, go with the Kathmandu. However, if you can afford it, I prefer the slimmer, less bulky fit of the Held Carese II. I also prefer the more breathable waterproof liner made of Gore-Tex. -DrewZilla

RevZilla Kathmandu also has gore tex liner right? I also want to know if carese 2 has similar rain head cover as in Kathmandu? If not how carese 2 prevents rain water flowing under the jacket from behind?
No, the Kathmandu is not Gore-Tex. Also, no, the Carese 2 does not have a rain hood. The jacket relies on the height of the collar to reduce the chance of rain getting inside. -DrewZilla
Never dealt with Held but FirstGear's warranty support is nonexistent.
hi..can you recomended something the same like this jacket a lot ventilation and the same removable gore tex memb. but to be 1000D? so lot vent with more protection? i loking revit def pro gtx but jacket dont have a lot vent like this ..have protection but not vent. sorry for bad eng. and thanks for answer..but dont recomended dainese explorere because if open vent back at all..dont have protect on back.
I recommend the Rukka 4Air. It uses Cordura AFT construction, which offers similar abrasion resistance to 1000D Cordura but with excellent ventilation. The entire jacket flows air. -DrewZilla

This jacket, Dainese d explore or re'vit! Defender pro? I'm buying one but I can't decide between them?
+Rick Pires The D-Explorer offers the most ventilation as well as the most adjustment of ventilation, so I'd go with Dainese. -DrewZilla

+RevZilla Thanks for the info!
I'm just worried that the ventilation on the D explorer seems a bit fussy to use?
The magnets on this look like they make adjustment fast and easy.
But then like you said, there is less ventilation. Decisions, decisions lol
Thanks again!
I am regretting buying this jacket. I spent only $411 but it was still too much.
The jacket performs better in the warm than it does the cold, since it has many vents, but the fact that they advertise it as 'gore tex' when all they did was slap a goretex liner in as an afterthought is ridiculous.
If you get something like the MSR explorer jacket you're paying less than half the msrp of this jacket and getting more features.
What do you mean by 'too European' ?
+Katarzyna Jasik European riding gear tends to be slimmer than "American-cut" riding gear. -DrewZilla
Buy Rukka you never get wrong
