This is what I needed. I followed step by step with you and it helped me to understand. I just calculated a 16 oz batch. Thank you!

This came at the right time. As a new soaper, I’m making one pound batches to test. This is so helpful. Many thanks.

I don’t understand how to add salts and powdered herbs to the soap calculator. Where?

If you are converting to grams do you use this same method but times your percentages by grams? I think this is correct but want to make sure. :)

Quick question if you get oil that’s mixed and your not sure of the types of oil or a small idea of what they are. How could you know how much lye to use

    • @alteredLori

use a soap calc add your oils and it will tell you how much lye to use.

Usually you can check the product label for that info. e.g. label will usually say if it's a blend of say olive and canola and the percentages of each in the blend or you can call or message the manufacturer as well👍🏽 then it's a simple matter of inputting that info in soapcalc to get the lye amount. So say you are using 400g of an olive/ canola oil blend that's 70% olive oil & 30% canola oil; just input in soapcalc 280g (i.e. 0.70 x 400g) olive oil and 120g (i.e. 0.30 x 400) canola oil👌🏽

Go to the settings and slow the video down as much as you need to to see the movements.
