it’s good that you chose to dnf the book. i used to think it was a waste to dnf a book, so i would always force myself to finish it. but this year i want to remind myself that i read purely for entertainment, so if i don’t enjoy a book from the start i shouldn’t have to continue it

@@SN-bk5xj yeah I do feel that, that was my biggest reason why I used to never dnf a book either. but forcing myself to read books that i don’t enjoy has got me in so many reading slumps. for me that is honestly worse than saving some money (+ you can always sell the books)
You can always sell the books you DNF or give them away. Then maybe someone else will enjoy them.
I agree! I am done forcing myself to read books I don’t like whether I bought it or not! I have too many other books I want to get through that why waste time reading something I’m not enjoying. Reading should be your hobby not a chore.😊

I think 2024 is the year we can all give ourselves permission to not finish a book we don't like. I used to force myself to finish a book. Now, no way. There are too many books to waste time on a book we're not enjoying. Say yes to DNF.

Man, I read 10 pages and subconsciously believe I need to spend another 3-5 hours of my life to finish it lol.
I personally love the Caraval trilogy. It's one of my favorites. The first book I gave 5 stars and then the 2nd & 3rd I gave 4 stars. Scarlet was such a great character I was disappointed when the series shifted to Tella's perspective.
I love seeing when you post ratings on Goodreads and then seeing the actual thoughts behind it in videos blesss😋

I felt the same about throttled and collided I gave both three stars and didn’t really connect to the characters but once I got to wrecked and redeemed (book 3 and 4) that’s when I started loving the series :)

It helps to still mark a book as read if you have difficulty dnf’ing.
I still think it’s fair bc to dnf there have to be many things off, the chance it will change in the last bit is very small

You HAVE to read 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons. It is a poignant and heartfelt novel by Abbie Emmons. If you like sweet contemporary romance and strong family themes then you'll love this touching story of hope, healing, and getting back up when life knocks you down. A girl goes temporally blind and meets a boy with no legs. It’s not super well known but I think that it’s super good and EXTREMELY underrated.

I haven't read that series but I felt similarly about the once upon a broken heart series especially the last book curse for true love- I was hoping for SO much more in terms of Jacks and Evangeline's happy ending! After watching this, maybe I won't be reading the Caraval series?!

Hi! I recently started getting into F1 earlier this month & discovered there’s an F1 romance genre 👀. I’ve seen so many people recommend the dirty air series, but I see so many mixed reviews about it. I was wondering (since you mentioned you are an F1 girly) if you liked the series &/or would recommend it? :) I was also curious the spice level. I don’t mind a little bit, but I tend to dislike books that are more intense spice wise.

I know im not Megan but I too love F1 (Im basic in my fav driver but Charles Leclerc has my heart, but they're all so great lol) but my mutual who loves F1 told me that she really enjoyed the series but that it is a bit inaccurate when it comes to the racing itself since its more focused on the romance. I think she also said the spice ranges for each book, so hopefully Megan can do a better job answering this part of your question! I just got the book in the mail today and cannot wait to start reading it ~ I hope you enjoy it too if you pick it up!

For me personally, when choosing to DNF a book, I usually give myself up to 100 pages, and if I’m not enjoying the storyline or connecting to the characters at all then I will DNF it…. Don’t want to risk putting myself in a reading slump if I’m not enjoying the book I’m reading….
