    Something I love about this mod is that they make Roma themselves a challenge the most op faction in the vanilla game they also make expansion in the game reasonable and realistic to where unlike the vanilla game you could just conquer the whole western part of the map by turn 60

    Playing as Rome in the mid-game can be difficult as it’s easy to be involved in a two front war. Something to prevent that is signing agreements with the minor factions to the north of Italy while trying to get alliances with the Greek factions and Egypt. Then after uniting central and southern Italy, begin eliminating Carthage in the Mediterranean allowing for a safe naval landing of North Africa. Then sweep clockwise across Africa towards Spain to finish off Carthage. All the while having allies to the east, and non aggression pacts to the north. Keep sweeping clockwise through Spain, France, UK, and Germany. Hope that might help someone!

      I did the opposite, as Carthage and siracusa seemed very passive I went to much confidence and went to Greece and the Alps at the same time... Everything was going very good until all the Gauls got mad and attacked while Macedonia kicked my ass in Greece and Carthage, Wich was accumulating power in the shadows starts to destroy me in Italy haha

    • @coloradoing9172

      The AI never does any diplomacy with you (and even if one of the northern barbarian factions makes a non aggression pact they'll just break it). In my game Syracuse literally declared war on me after Carthage attacked them, and they refused to peace out, eventually just dying to the Carthaginians. Even if factions like you and would benefit from working together, they will refuse to sign any pacts or even a trade agreement with you. Without fully uniting Italy you can't afford enough troops or ships to invade Carthage. Besides, I have to spend ages replenishing because I keep having to defeat 5 stacks of Carthaginians or Massilians with the two stacks I can barely afford, on top of dealing with revolts which the AI never gets. Massilia is so dedicated to fighting me right now that they won't even peace out despite of being attacked by their neighbours and losing all their armies to me. Now someone is sieging their last city. God the AI in this game is laughably bad.

    A good tactic for playing a culture that is not shared by neighbors is to send your missionaries to their regions and give them abilities to spread your culture. this way when you conqur new regions you already have a population pool of your culture which makes recruitment and replenishment faster and you can always keep your army in good fighting shape.

    #1 excellent video, love that there is such a passionate and growing DEI community! You asked if there is anything that should be added... I would suggest letting the new players know about the sea supply as well... for anyone reading, the "civilized" factions can build a supply ship. Keep that ship near your army in the sea to prevent attrition. The supply ship can also help supply land armies near the cost. Also keep in mind your navies must dock in 1 of your ports every 8 turns or else they will face attrition as well.

    • @Immersaholic

    Once you know the population numbers you know the best place to recruit from. I start a General in a city. Keep him there to build up a couple of levels. I recruit some core units then move the army to provinces that have good cavalry, missal troops and spear units. It a bit time consuming but I found these armies to be very effective. The down side is having a army that you made to fight in Gaul and you take it to the middle east.

      If only they didn't take baby steps on the campaign map they'd be more fun to play. No idea why they decided that dumbass penalty.

      @@Userius1 Ah I forgot they are 300 strong too.. Do they have a javelin? They could definitely be a high contender for being among the best. I'm not sure if a single unit can ever hold the title of being THE best heavy infantry. Best axe unit can be done though for sure.

    • @cerdic6586

      They are certainly a force to be feared. In the early game, they dominate the peasant levies of other Germanic tribes.
      Kimbroz also have a heavy sword unit that is superior to anything that Galatia and Rome can produce. 17 attack, 13 melee defence, 38 armour, defensive formation and 52 morale I think. I tested them against praetorians and they triumphed with only 30-40 casualties

      Have you played the Scordisci the Cordinau Orca or scordisci elite swords man totally smash everything. Seriously its like a perfect blend of an axe unit and a elite barbarian swords man. They also have a bonus vs Cavs and even elephants. I spent a good solid 3 hours testing them out versus different units. No barbarian swords or even much more expensive roman swords cant defeat them. I even tried them against the Indian faction where they had three elite two handed clubman I forget what they are called and and 3 elite elephants vs 3 of the elite swords man and a spear general. It was epic tbh they won.

    ROME 2 DEI is a great mod where more in depth for politics, population, supplies for army, weather factor etc where wish was more indepth for these factors. however for me doesn't address two of the most fundamental issues in the grand campaign. this being the lack of towns and cities in the grand campaign map. there are keys towns and cities that need to be added. they are in certain campaigns like caser and gaul, rise of the republic and wrath of Sparta/ Greece but this those campaigns only deal with a small part of the known world. i know what the response going to be that the game only allows a certain amount of town and cities but still it needs to be sorted. the other factors that ties into the amount of town and cities is the deck of units in each army. where can only recruit 20 units in a pack. with the pack being in effect a legion and we all know how big a legion was. the standard thing is to increase the amount in each unit but with that you lose maneuver, there is a mod i used a while ago where you could increase the units from 20 to 70 units or more in a pack but with that due to the lack of cities and towns you cant support multiple legions that size.

    I've been playing DEI since 2015 or so and just started a new co-op campaign a couple weeks ago, the mod seems hugely improved!
    One thing that has never been clear to me though is whether disbanding units returns their respective population to the local province. So say you recruit Triarii in Rome and disband them somewhere else, are the 200 Patricians added to the population of the province where they are disbanded?

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Год назад +4

      In the past it didn’t work but yes now when you delete units their pop goes into the region they are in when deleted. A great way to move population around!

    I get so frustrated with the initial 2 front war as rome. I haven't been able to win because as soon as I take both my armies to either one of the enemy capitols, one of them takes a city from me and I'm bankrupted. The ai is so good and I simply can't stand losing like this, as I play strategy games so often and believe myself to be generally very good at them. One of my biggest problems is that stationing troops in a town will lower public order and cause rebellion, which I think is very odd and means I can only defend the towns by reinforcing in battle. Which in turn means I'm fighting back into my town with hastati after it's taken by an army of elephants and hoplites. Very challenging for me and I would appreciate any tips to help my situation.

    hi... this is a really great beginners guide. btw, I always make specialized provinces like for military recruitment, food province, manufacture/mining, etc.
    but the problem is I never get a good supply of high classed citizens and foreigners for my military provinces since i need them a lot, even after I built a lot of specific buildings for that and also tweak a few "building_effect" with pfm for buffing the 1st and 4th % citizen population a lot, but somehow its not really impact their specific "building %" growth factors. you have a solution for this?

    • @Immersaholic
      @Immersaholic  Год назад

      Adjusting the tax level can really impact certain classes. The lower the tax then the more citizens you’ll keep. Also research technologies that help your pop go up early on

    • @rizaldiaulia7496
      @rizaldiaulia7496 Год назад

      @@Immersaholic my taxes already set at the lowest, the food in the province is a surplus, I even use Latium as my military province since it have the capital bonus, full building slots are maxed out and built for barracks and a few temple of mars. the ports already turned into fisheries to support the food supply and all of the building level are maxed out. and yet, the patricii pops only increase +10 people, +200 for perigini, but the plebs is over +1000 people per turn, even after I tweaked the "building_effect" to only buff the 1st and 4th citizens.
      and the weird part is the other provinces have around 200+ of increased 1st citizen pops even when I'm not using buffed buildings.
      so now I don't know what to do to get it for my military province.. ☹️
