Check out THIS video where I cover the tank with an awesome looking Brushed Steel Vinyl: ruclips.net/video/M_EmVO9q1y8/видео.html
Ideally you need a bit more length and a bit more width... that's what.... your mom said ;p
@crashnreset6987 😂😂👍🏻
One thing that I'd recommend while vinyl wrapping is using a winter glove as a sort of squeegee, helps smooth slightly more intricate parts with your fingers and will help protect your hand if you're using a heatgun.
Wow top job sir! You have waaaay more patience than I would have had....nice one.
Cheers TMF! You fly-boys and your constant need for instant thrills! 😉 It was a real Test of my anger management skills mate! Lots of deep breaths and screaming into a pillow just out of shot!! 😂😂
Sorry 2 bother you but i need a tank cover for my 96 zx11. Any ideas? Thanks
@@AndyManCam lol
Bro why is this guy the nicest person on earth, like why cant all people be as open to hate and inviting to tips as he is?
Cheers mate. I totally agree. If most people on RUclips didn’t get offended every time they get a tip or piece of criticism, it would be a far more positive place!
I never comment on videos but I wanted to say THANK YOU! I appreciate you leaving the challenges you faced and worked through in the video and links to the resources you used to help you. Awesome job!
Many thanks Todd. Happy to have helped and thanks for the watch mate!
Wow, just calculating the contour-lines/cuts, my head hurt, hats off to you Andy for completing that one! If I attempted that, my tank would look like a ransom note of vinyl clippings. Great shots at the end, looks great on the bike!
Cheers Eric. I had a proper laugh at the ransom note comment!
You can postulate for the job of most patient guy on the planet ever... in my head I threw the tank and the vinyl through the window at least 3 times watching your video... nice job sir
Haha! It does take a bit of patience to get this done!
I’ve given you a thumbs up Andy, and yes you have passed the test and got the job to do my fzs600, tank front mudguard and tailpiece cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
Get in!! Thanks mate. I’ll be right over! 😜
A pleasure to watch (in 2x), thanks!
Haha! Cheers! I wish I could have done it in 2x as well!!
I’m very impressed with your workmanship and patience!
Thanks very much Don. Patience is definitely a big help with this job!
Watching an amateur do it instead of a pro is way more instructive and lets one know what to expect when attempting this job. Thanks!
Cheers mate. I think you're right. A pro will show you how it 'could' go. A chancer like me will show how it WILL go!
Great job done Andy you have given me the insperation and motivation to do the panniers doors and top box lid and maybe the tank on my Honda NT700 v love the video, and the music was just right. Safe rideing Sir.
Thanks Simon. Good luck mate. Start small and bring as much time and patience as you can!
Hi Andy, thanks for another well presented and informative video. From this end of the camera the finished article looks first class - very well done. 👍👍 I cannot think how you could have done a better job.
I thought the background music was really good too, thanks for including the playlist.
No thank you for watching it mate! Glad it looks good through the lens. TBH I actually AM pretty happy with it now that it's on the bike. Certainly looks better up close than the hack job I did on the Versys!!
Big thumbs up for this vid Andy. It's hard enough to wrap a tank and get everything right, but to also record & edit the process... now that's a lot of work. Looks like you did a great job. Hopefully it holds up well when you start riding the bike again.
Thanks very much MF. TBH you're not at all far from the truth!! The filming was certainly a HUGE contributing factor to the high blood pressure levels!! Looking forward to seeing it out there in the sunshine!!
Thanks for that, looks good to me. My daughter and me have just done the faded plastic panels on the side of my bike, vast improvement seeing it was our first attempt, not too bad if you don't look to close.
Thanks very much! Glad you've got a finish you're happy with. That's whats important!
"it could be better , maybe next time it'll be perfect"
Thats what she said lol
Nice vid been wanting to try this myself. If I get a result that's half as good , I'll be happy.
Haha, touché! Thanks Michael. Give it a go mate. Good luck!
Quite possibly the best video explanation I've seen so far. Very easy to follow and I'm excited to give it a try. Thank you.
Excellent work in both the tank job and demo for us. You've inspired me to go forward with wrapping some bike parts! Thanks Man!
Good luck Brett. I hope it goes well! 🤞🏻
Nice to see someone who doesn’t have experience wrapping tackling this project. I’ve been wanting to try and wrap mine myself. After watching this I think I’ll have a go!
Cheers John. I think this kind of thing is always worth a go. Small investment and low risk. If it doesn't work, you pull it off and move on. (Then take the vinyl off. Boom Boom!)
Looks good Andy! 👍🏻 I would go full on OCD and try to patternmatch, which in turn would bring me in to full rage. And ultimately in to a proffessional shop to do it for me. As long as the part survived 😂
Actually I had a strange lapse and didn't think of that when I was doing the side pieces. Now I kind of regret it because the side pieces are going in different direcctions from each other and I hate it!! :O
@@AndyManCam Oh, i think it turned out great. I guess it would had to been done as one whole piece otherwise. So i think you got a really good result 👍
looks ridiculous
@@AndyManCam oh good not just me.
If you can't say something nice...
Good job mate, it looks great, thanks for sharing, it was fun watching you do it, good pointers for my tank wrap...
Thanks JP. My pleasure mate. Hope your wrap goes well.
Awesome work. Welldone.
Nice! I've been thinking of doing this, this is the first time I've seen it done. looks good! cheers
Thanks! I’d always say to give it a go. Little cost, little Risk and the potential to change the look of your stuff!
Man, that looks good to me! Great demo, Andy, and a beautiful finish. I'm not sure that I have your patience, but I'm now willing to give it a go 👍
Cheers Keith. I think that for the cost involved, it's always worth a go. When it works, it's deeply satisfying!! Good luck!!
Absolutely top effort! I would have got no where near that! Still can’t believe I watched nearly half hour of vinyl wrapping but you made it entertaining! 👍👍
Thanks very much! Very happy to have kept you from getting bored at what is, let's be honest, a pretty boring subject!! :D
This gives me confidence to wrap my tank, thanks!
Glad to hear it! Go for it mate. The overall financial risk is really not that bad. Just the increased blood pressure and time wasted!!!
😯. Lots of time and effort into doing this Andy! Looks great and as always.. I enjoy your videos.. As a side note.. I purchased the Michelin Pilot Road 5s based on your reviews! Thanks Andy
Time invested! ;) Thanks mate. I hope you enjoy the Road 5's nearly as much as I have! Best tyres ever!
You sir, have the patience of a saint! Nice video, impressive results.
Cheers Ewan. Had to take a lot of deep breaths and counting to 10 throughout!! 😂
Great video with lots of good tips!
I thought that you would go with the grain of the top piece instead of the opposite direction. Great job. I am looking to get a new Yamaha fjr 1300 es. I want it in black like the 2017 model but it comes in blue. The dealer had told me about wraps, and so here I am researching and found your video. Thanks a bunch. Cheers from across the pond. 👍
I decided early on that trying to match the grain would be a frustrating and long winded affair! I also had limited vinyl, so I just gave up before I started and used in whatever direction it worked!! I think I’ll be changing it soon anyway. Good luck with your wrap. It’s a great way to change up your bike, but maintain the ability to just change it again later!!
That was quite relaxing and entertaining...good job mate!
Many thanks Jeffery. Vinyl wrapping is kind of therapeutic to watch, isn’t it! Not so much to do it though!! 🤣
awesome. two thumbs up and five out of five stickers for you sir ! gives me confidence to think about trying this!
You have to do a vid on wrapping Ichi! haha
Thanks Ichi! I wholeheartedly agree with @Kim Jong Il, I for one would warm up the popcorn for a wrapping video!
LOOKED GOOD WITH MIDDLE DONE AND SIDE PAINTED.....NICE WORK!
I agree. That was my original plan. But I got a better deal on the vinyl so thought I'd see how it looks fully covered. Maybe a half covered finish next time.
Carbon Fiber Tank Wrap Looks GOOD!
Cheers William! I agree. Can't wait to see how it looks in the sun!
That was mental! Very impressive, Sir. That looked very difficult, you handled it like a champ!
Cheers, from Northern Califonia.
Many thanks! It was a challenge, but overall I was happy! Though not happy enough that I didn't try again with something different! ruclips.net/video/M_EmVO9q1y8/видео.html
Brilliant job, really great vid
Thank you most kindly dear boy!
Patience’s is the word of the day, will have to try this myself
It's definitely worth a go for the low price of admission! Even if just to test how patient you really are! ;D
That turned out great, well done!
Thanks very much DC!
Awesome job, Andy!
Thanks very much Jon!
wooow, you have great patience.... well job done.
Cheers! Patience learnt through many agonizing hours of just wanting the job to be finished!!
Georgeous work, great soundtrack again.
Thank you kindly Mr. Bauer.
Love the tunes!
Wrapping is tricky. I did my white side panels on my KLX. First timer. Did ok. Thankfully it’s a camp print. LOL. Hides the few imperfections. But an overall improvement on appearance. My cut tape lifted off as I adjusted the wrap. Panel was properly cleaned but I made due. Definitely have to pin down the piece you are working on.
Thanks for your help.
+Just wrapped a belly pan for my FZS600 in the same carbon-effect, About to do the final heat treatment thanks to this film. Nice One
Many thanks Gilbert! Hope the pan came out how you were hoping!
nicely done, you made that look easy
Thanks Mr Daniels! Editing made it look easy. I made it look like I was blindfolded and with one hand behind my back!! :D
A job well done Andy. Never in a million years would I ever attempt this type of project, my anxiety levels were through the roof just watching you!
Haha! Cheers PR. Fear not, my anxiety levels were up there too!
Mine too sweaty palms & DONT COME NEAR ME !!!!!!!!!.. stress level.😲
Great job! I learned A LOT!
Fantastic lessons learned…well done kind Sir !!
Thank you kindly!
Nicely Done!
Many thanks indeed!
You have a professional voice..... Very comedic and good sense of humor.. Lol great work too I've learned
Awesome, thank you!
If you don't like how the edges join, you could always use some pin striping tape over the edges in a contrasting color... Maybe if the bike was red and you were putting a black carbon fiber vinyl wrap on it, you could use some very narrow red pin strips on your edges as accents? Just like we don't expect the people who put sheetrock on walls to have perfect fit along the bottoms of the walls or around the doors and they use trim pieces / moldings instead.
I'm with you there. Problem with this stuff is that it's textured, so the pinstriping doesn't really stick as well as it would on a smooth vinyl. So eventually it starts to peel off. Could be that I did it badly, but hey, just an amateur!
AMAZING! SATISFYING! (That's what she said!) Thanks for the video. It helped us out a lot.
That turned out really good!!
Thanks very much mate!
Looks pretty darn good to me. Like you I have suffered for hours on end to then get a stupid tear or crease in the vinyl and have to go back to point 1. Its worth it when its done and smooth but crikey it aint easy.
It's a killer isn't it!! The worst for me is when you work yourself up to a corner, but theres just TOO much material to make it all lay down! So you start again...
Amazing I really enjoyed your video. Very helpful x
Glad it was helpful Lizzie. Thanks!
AndyManCalm in action. You make these things look easy mate 👍🏻
Ha! Thanks mate. It's all an illusion and clever editing!
Looks good well done 👍
Thanks very much I&S!
Mate, hats off to you for having a go, I've certainly never done it. If I did I'd only be interested in doing a one piece with no visible joins. Surely the wrap is available in wider dimensions.
Cheers Mark. I think single pieces is certainly a clever way to start. Otherwise you may just destory all motivation for future projects!! Yeah the vinyl is available in larger dimensions. But I knew that I wouldn't have the skill to do the tank in one and saved the money by getting the smaller size.
Brother you are so much better at this craft, than you give yourself credit for; Beautiful job mate" "Be Safe!
Thanks you very much Legend. I guess it went pretty well, all things considered.
Great job!! Buen trabajo
Muchas gracias Juan!
looks amazing
Thanks very much Todd.
Well done!
Thanks very much ON!
Wow this looks brilliant.
Thanks very much Dinesh!
Looks great 👍
Thanks very much Ken.
Great job mate. I've only wrap my chain guard and it was a pain in the ass. That being said I'm still planning on doing some side panels.
I can imagine! Sometimes the smaller and thinner parts are more of a pain than the bigger parts!! Good luck with the side panels.
Fair play to you young man. patients 100%
Thanks Les! Patience earned through decades of DIY and saving money!! :D
Great job mate.😊
Thanks very much Jimmer.
Clean work man.Love the video .
Thanks very much MG!
Thanks for that! I have a long range aftermarket tank on my KLR. It is a transparent whitish colour which I planned to vinyl wrap until I saw this. I now have decided to leave the fk'n thing alone! Cheers!
Hahahaha! Very happy to have helped mate, regardless of the direction! 😄
yup.me to.
If you decide to wrap youll have to make relief cuts once your finished!! My buddies xc race there quads and have oversize tanks and theyre graphic kits bubble and pull off in the first couple of weeks w/o relief cuts because tanks without the tank cover offgas quite a bit and thatll ruin the adhesive
Looks fantastic! You’ve a lot of patience. Don’t think I would even attempt it.
Thanks mate! I have to count to 10 in my head a lot! I do it for you guys!! xx
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great music choice! Was very funny and easy to watch!
Thanks very much indeed Dan! I've been accused of having some dodgy music choices in the past, but I think I'm finally getting it!
Nice work👍👍👍
Thanks very much Banditman!
Ya did a great job well done.........👍
Thanks very much Gremlin!
The finished product looks great! But I can't imagine myself having the patience to do it. Of course when it is too cold to work in the garage, I expect your roommate would rather have you *wrapping* in the kitchen, than *paint-spraying* in the kitchen.
Thanks!! I reckon you're right there! The missus already had a little bit of a wince when she saw me shifting a petrol tank about on the ktchen table!! I imagine a cloud of sticky black paint might have pushed her over the edge!!
Brilliant mate... or as we say over here, Awesome dude.
Good job dude
Many thanks Adithya!
Well done Andy Lad!!
Cheers muchly David!
Job well done on the first try brah, I'll try it on my rebel 250 just to get the experience. Great job. Thumbs up
Cheers! It’s worth a try. If it works, it looks great. If it doesn’t, then you can take it straight off!!
Good video, sir..... nicely done!
Thanks very much Tony!
U made me want to buy carbon fiber vinyl wrap 😭😭😭 looks awesome!
Haha! Sorry about that! Hope you have as much, if not more success with your project Thomas!
awesome job!!! nice work !!!
Vielen Dank! And i didn’t even throw anything out the window in a frustrated rage!
@@AndyManCam great respect for this self-control :-)
More like dedication to the video! Without cameras, it would all be in the bin!
Good job mate 👍
Cheers very much mate!
Amazing !
Thanks very much Sven.
It is beautiful! 👍
Thank you very much!
That is a pretty decent job. If you leave about 4 inches of the knifeless tape sticking out where you are going to start it is much easier to work with.
Thanks Bob. Yeah I realised too late that I’d left the ends far too short. Next time!
Tank looks killer my friend! I will leave wrapping a fuel tank to you though iv tried my hand wrapping a few times and ita quite simply a huge pain in the ass!
Thanks very much mate! It's a faff, but when it goes right, it looks great!
Wow man. That looks sick as hell!
Really well done. I tried wrapping once. Don't think I'll do it again lol
Cool stuff
Cheers Mick. It's definitely not for everyone!!
looks ridiculous
Thanks mate. 👍🏻
Good job. I'm about to do my tank and fairing so this has been a good help. Done wrapping before but never in 3 parts. Will be interesting 😳
I’m impressed, I’ve tried this. It’s freakin hard.
Thanks Brent. Yeah, it’s definitely not straightforward!
great vid.awesome production.i was thinking of vinyl wrapping my tank.after seeing what a ungodly pain in the ass it was,i think ill just consider my ugly tank a anti theft device.thanks so much.:)
Haha! See the positive in every negative eh!? It was a real ballache mate, though I’m glad I gave it a crack. If nothing else, I think I increased my patience levels!
Good job mate, it's a thankless task.
Thanks! Luckily it wasn't a Tankless task, otherwise the video would have been short.... :I
Cracking job mate you really did do a great job and your bike looks so so so good 👍 well done seriously pal x jase
Patients of a saint well done.
Patience gained through literally years of saving money!! :D
Great video - Thanks! Also for the Betty Boop music.
Thanks Jens! I thought the music worked well. Bit of fun! :D
🤣😂🤣😂🤣 I subscribed just bc of the “This is getting ridiculous” section!
Exceptional!
Thanks very much!
Not quite sure how I wound up here; but glad I did. Really enjoyed watching the project and have to give you props for all the fun little musical references in the captions. (Enjoyed the music selection, too!) Much as I like the idea am not sure I'd ever have the patience to fight with vinyl though.
Thanks very much Jason! Glad you enjoyed it and i hope you stop by again soon! There’s no way to dress it up, working with the vinyl is deeply frustrating! Still worth a go though! 😄
I'm impressed. I know that stuff isn't easy to work with.
Many thanks Blair. It certainly isn’t!
Looks great Andy! Like to do my bike dark brushed aluminium, but do to complete lack of passions combined with OCD on my part, it would put my bike in danger of getting hurt 🤨
Thanks!! Brushed Aluminium would be VERY cool! I was tempted by a bit of gunmetal. Maybe next time. I can imagine the Alu stuff would be pretty tough to work with though. I had to suspend much of my OCD for this job. Also had to exercise out of body levels of patience!! :D
Looks awesome
Cheers very much Danny!
Done a great job there Andy, you’ve got some bloody patience......
i would of thrown all the stuff in the bin when the insulating tape didn’t reach from side to side.
Cheers Chris. It’s taken much perseverance and deep breathing to get this point! Perfect your patience, by frustrating the shit out of yourself!
