I think a lot of what you describe about artists changing is the industry trying to make artists into what they think is commercial. LGG is at least in part about the industry. Also, I do think the official video is worth seeing. It is extremely creative and yes, the live of LGG is AMAZING!!!
She also has a live version of her new song 1:5 and it’s incredible as well. But then I love Chinchilla and everything she’s done so I recommend literally everything she does. And as perfect as this version of Fingers is, I love the hell out of the studio version and official video.

According to common narrative, this song is about how she's been screwed by her music manager/management and what made her go independent. IMHO the piano player did a brilliant job and his performance added to the spookyness of the song.
You’re absolutely correct in that the studio version was g her songs and even Ren’s song don’t do justice to the live version . There is so much more embellishment in the live version. Body language plays such a major role in conveying the emotion . Guys you have to re do Little girl gone but do the live version. Wow! Also check her and Ren out doing How to be me . The studio version is EXTREMELY different than this one. She does such a great job of translating her studio to live versions of songs to make them sound entirely new.

when bands get signed is when their music changes. because the companies that sign them are all about the money. that is when they change their sound. most often it is not the band. Ren and Chinchilla are independent. that's why you don't hear them on the radio. and that is also why they sound so fresh. you said you don't know where she is going to go with it....that is because she can produce her music the way SHE wants to. radio used to have so many new bands each year with different sounds it was hard to keep up. now they only play stuff that sounds the same. it is meant to keep you numb. that is why Ren and Chinchilla get your brain firing. it's fresh it's new it makes you think.....our brains have been STARVING for this. we need to start new radio stations, we need a new version of wolfman jack. pirate radio.....freedom radio.

I'd recommend checking out "Little Girl Gone" acoustic Requiem live version. Just as killer as this and a total contrast to the studio version!
