I'm watching this and shedding the odd tear for the past and also for my son who sits glued to his phone; I worry that stories don't interest kids anymore and that these dumb memes is all they get bombarded with. We're in lockdown (coronavirus) so I'm watching all these old series. I want to get hold of the 70s series, Shadows.
These shows are very interesting, there are subtle hints they give away. History is far more recent than we would like to believe and have been told about.

In the book by Dorothy Edwards Mr. Adams lives with his Methodist daughter Mrs. Umphrey, a widow. When Mr. Adam and Jimmy sing to the Grinnygog she comes out and accuses them of being heathen and refuses to give her father any sausages for his tea because he went too far. Jimmy tells the rest of the children that he likes Mrs. Umphrey, but she can be very mean.
