This is a very classy recording by a band and conductor at the top of their game. The poise and elegance of the playing - just listen to the articulation and balance in 'The New Colonial'- is so good. The LP cover picture is the RMSM 47:11 band Beating Retreat at Broadlands, home of the late Earl Mountbatten of Burma. He loved the Royal Marines Band Service and, when he was First Sea Lord, said the Royal Marines Bands were the best 'soft power' weapon in the land. Thank you for posting, Ross. Made my afternoon.
