    Hello Will, I always follow your tutorials and tips, I mostly use Keyshot for labeling, the problem you are working here is important but it is not 'commercially' critical, nevertheless Keyshot has it's weaknesses especially when your handling a non uniform (Shape) label on curved surface. Trust me when I say that I have in several occasions deformed the label artwork (intentionally) to make it fit on a bottle and look realistic or proportional in Keyshot. I got lots of examples to share (if you allow me to).

      Have you taken a chance to look into UV unwrapping to see if it would help in your cases. I have a few videos on that topic on this channel.

    Hi, Great video, I learned so much! Thank you!
    How were you able to add your logo (or any png) into the Textures Library. I've tried dragging and dropping and RMB to see if there is an import option, but no luck.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  5 месяцев назад

      In the textures library, near the search bar. To the right of it. You'll see an arrow icon for import.

    Great tutorials! One question: How do you wrap the artwork label over 3 surfaces with a single png? I have a U shape (not exactly U as there are edges and sharp with some fillets) sheet metal piece, but the artwork label designed in adobe illustrator is flattened out. I have been trying to export it as png and apply as a label onto the surface, but it tends to stretch the surface so bad that the text is distorted on some of the surfaces.

      You need to look into UV unwrapping to accomplish this. I have a few videos on my channel on the topic. See if this helps: ruclips.net/video/Oh4ibAlp9Q4/видео.html Or this: ruclips.net/video/0dU7kxOHIPw/видео.html

    Loved how you explained the orientation based on the origin of the components in fusion 360! Would this work if I just pattern bodies within a component? Or does it need to be separate components?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  9 месяцев назад

      It depends. A body does not inherently have an origin. A component however does. So, you'd need to create a body (keeping the location of the origin where you want it relative to the body). Then, you can right-click on the body and 'create component from body' and then you'd pattern the component.

    Ooof that last hack about sharing label across materials is everything I love and hate about keyshot. 😂

    Thanks for this. What if you have two same objects and two different labels, only different by color. How would you match the exact position between both of them?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  8 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. I duplicate the label, then load the different texture with the correct color. Would that work for you?

  • @rota860
    @rota860 Год назад

    Ok my problem with the labels is that i want to mirror it to both side of the object, but everytime that i do it, the other side of the object that i aply the label is in reverse, so if it is a world that i'm trying to label in one side is normal and the other is in reverse, is there a way to solve this?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  Год назад +1

      You have a few options. But if you want it to work automatically, your model will need to be created using a mirror function. For example, if you make half of the object, then do a mirror function in your CAD software. I'm not sure if this will work in ALL 3D modeling tools, but I've seen it work with NX and Solidworks.
      The other approach is to apply the label using planar projeciton. Set the depth to something small and position it into place so it only appears on one side. Then, duplicate the label (in labels panel or material graph) and move the second label to the others side of the object. Then, in the label mapping properties, you can use 'flip horizontal/flip vertical'.

  • @tonsab.assist.master
    @tonsab.assist.master Год назад

    Perhaps another solution to the label across multiple material problem is to duplicate the geometry and apply the label to it while hiding the rest of the geometry?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  Год назад

      hah. I can imagine this causing other issues... but sure. If that were the case, I'd probably just throw a plane up there and apply a label to it. With curved geo though, that'd be less helpful I guess. Good thinking though.

    If it possible, I want to ask one thing. I have a laptop which is i5-8th cpu with 4 core. I did a project which is with 1300 samples and duration 27 second finally 805 frames on keyshot.
    When ı looked by calculating that how much time will it last? my laptop renders one frame in 40 minutes and there are 800 frame so that completing project.
    Therefore 800 framex40 minutes =32000 minutes / 60 = 533 hours = 22 day My laptop will have to run by about 22 days.
    when ı looked head up display for proper sample amount, my laptop could make at least 1300 times to one frame. so that's why ı choosed it so.what do you think about this topic ?
    22 day render time for laptop with 4 core - 8 threads is it nomal ? If ı run my laptop for 22 day as uninterrupted in normal speed mode ( cpu temperature 70 celcius ) May ı live any problem ? Conclusion, for people who want to get qualify render but have standart laptop which is cpu with 4 core. What would you say ?
    Thanks.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  Год назад +1

      That sounds like you may be at risk of destroying your CPU in your laptop due to heat damage. I would try to use a render farm or rely on render settings to reduce render time. Can you reduce ray bounces, GI, caustics, etc. to speed it up? Can you render at 24 FPS to reduce frames? Can you render at a lower resolution?
