Where does a person go the moment they die ? Into the ground, decaying, becoming "dust again" (Gen 3:19), for they have died, as Ecclesiastes 9:4-6 states: "There is hope for whoever is among the living, because a live dog is better off than a dead lion (that has ceased to exist, just as Adam became a "living soul" ONLY when he started breathing, so that up till that time he was a "dead soul", Gen 2:7, and again became a dead soul upon his death, returning to "the dust", Gen 3:19)."
"For the living know that they will die, but the dead know NOTHING at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already PERISHED, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun."
At Psalms 115:17, it says: "The dead do not praise Jah (shortened form of Jehovah, God's name, see Isa 12:2, KJV); Nor do any who go down into the SILENCE of death." As Psalms 31:17 states: "O Jehovah, may I not be put to shame when I call on you. May the wicked be put to shame; May they be silenced in the Grave (or dead, ceasing to exist)."
At Psalms 146:3, 4, it says: "Do not put your trust in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. His spirit (or life force, like electricity for an appliance) goes out, he returns to the ground (decaying, turning to "dust") On that very day his thoughts perish (ceasing to exist)."
At Isaiah 26:19, it shows that those who have died are "powerless in death", but which many will receive a resurrection (Greek anastasis, meaning "to stand up again in life", for there is NO immortal soul that lives on after death, for the soul is us as a person, that breathes, eats, bleeds and be destroyed, see Gen 2:7; Lev 23:30; Deut 12:20; Isa 53:12; Jer 2:34; Acts 3:23; James 5:20) from the dead, saying:
"Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, you residents in the dust ! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, and the earth will let those powerless ("powerless" Hebrew naphal, meaning "to fall, sunken, powerless, ones") in death come to life (in which if a person never died, then how can these ones "come to life", which shows what Christendom teaches, of immortality of the soul, as a falsehood)
So, when a person dies, they cease to exist, and ONLY if Jehovah God remembers them will they receive a resurrection from the dead, as Job requested, saying: "O that in the Grave you would conceal me, that you would hide me until your anger passes by, that you would set a time limit for me and remember me !"
"If a man dies, can he LIVE AGAIN ? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service ("compulsory service" Hebrew tsaba, meaning "to be conscripted, forced to be in the military", so that Job is compelled to remain dead in the grave) until my relief (or resurrection) comes."
"You will call, and I will answer you (living again, being resurrected). You will long for the work of your hands (or long to see loyal ones living again, even after having been dead for thousands of years)."(Job 14:13-15, New World Translation)

For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." (1 Peter 4:6 NKJV)
"Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things." (Ephesians 4:9-10 NKJV) "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matthew 12:40) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.(Luke 23:43) --I think Christ went to (Paradise)Abraham's bosom(Luke 16:19-31) with the thief and preached to the old saints and then after three days he took them and ascended to heaven! And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.(Matthew 27:52-53) KJV “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

*"What Really Happens After You Die?"* One hears many different answers to that question. The following is for those few who are interested in knowing what the Bible says.
✴ _18 I said to myself concerning the sons of men, “God has surely tested them in order for them to see that they are but beasts.” 19 For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same_ *BREATH* ( "ruach" ) _and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity. 20 All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust. 21 Who knows that the_ *BREATH* ( "ruach" ) _of man ascends upward and the_ *BREATH* ( "ruach" ) _of the beast descends downward to the earth?_ (Ecclesiastes 3: 18-21; NASB)

I would like to ask if you believe in a literal 10 virgins who need to trim their lamp? A literal pearl that was found and the man who bought the field to obtain it? A literal vineyard leased and the servants and son of the landowner killed? They are all parables just like Lazarus and the rich man. They teach a lesson like a fable and are not intended to be literal.

@@db1566 The parable can be interpreted as an allegory for the afterlife. It suggests a state of conscious existence following death, where individuals experience a foretaste of their ultimate reward or punishment. This interim realm, often referred to as Hades, serves as a holding ground until the final judgment.

    • @aaronalles9278

Whether Luke 16 is a parable or not, doesn’t matter. As Jesus portrayed the final account of these men, several details from the story went unmentioned. For example, He specified that Lazarus died, but the duration from his death to when angels would carry him must be ascertained elsewhere. Fortunately, the Messiah furnished the answer in Matthew 24:31 -aka -when He returns.
Concerning the destination of the angelic flight, Abraham's bosom simply meant that Lazarus had obtained the same promise as Abraham; having been carried into an intimate relationship with the Eternal, depicted by Abraham's bosom -his loving embrace (compare w/Galatians 3:29).
Finally, the balance of this story advances to when the rich man “lifted up his eyes” -from whence they had been CLOSED (Luke 16:23). He is then greeted by the lake of fire. I think we’re all aware of the timeframe revealed here. If not, one can read about it in Revelation 20:14-15.

A true principle for Bible Study is we must let the clear scriptures of the Bible explain the more obscure ones. The parable you cite is perhaps the most obvious place for this. The clear Bible scriptures show that the rich man will wake up in torment in the second resurrection to be thrown into the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:13-15) and Lazarus will be in the first resurrection at Christ's return along with Abraham and all the righteous saints (1 Cor. 15 and 1 Thess. 4).

What about it? Did Paul teach two different things? Of course not! Mr. Shabi just showed you the scriptures about death and the resurrection that come straight from Paul. Look them up in your own Bible so you can see they actually say exactly what Mr. Shabi said. What Paul meant was that death was a state that he would be unaware of and his next moment of consciousness would be at the first resurrection when Christ returns. It is exactly the same for everyone else, as well. Death is an unconscious state and like being asleep. We each awaken to whichever resurrection we are destined for by our life's actions. Don't allow yourself to exist in a state of confusion, not comprehending what the Bible clearly states--and _does not_ state Pat and Cheryl. 😉👌

Consider that IF the dead --really are conscious and in the presence of the Lord --right now --As commonly supposed from this verse --Then how could 1st Thessalonians 4:17 say, “And thus [by the resurrection and the changing of our bodies] we shall always be with the Lord?”
…because --we’d already be with Him.
Instead, what the passage is saying --is that we are WILLING to be absent from the body WILLING to be present with the Lord.
The phrase, “we are willing” shows that the passage states a will --a wish --which is not a wish to die --but a wish to be absent from this temporal body (along with the struggles & difficulties associated with it) AND a wish to be --with --the --Lord.
Nothing here --insinuates an immediate transfer --the language (I looked it up in the Greek) …It doesn’t even imply it.
But here’s where things get interesting. Because to simply leave it there --would be doing an injustice to the passage. Namely because there’s a double entendre embedded in the chapter. What I’ve given you --was only the first layer.
So, let’s briefly consider --the rest of the story because Paul was headed somewhere. His expressed thought didn’t --suddenly end in verse 8.
Verse 10 says, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in--the--body." There is a reward coming; however, the body also represents the physical pull of sin & our carnal human nature.
Now skipping ahead to the qualifying verbiage, verses 16-17 share, "Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, [the body] YET NOW WE KNOW HIM THUS NO LONGER. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, HE (or she) IS a new creation."
So, there’s a contrast --To be spiritually minded is likened to being [already] present with The Lord. Whereas to be carnally minded --is likened to the body [of sin] and therefore --absent from the Lord.
It’s an analogy. And by following Paul’s stream of thought to its conclusion --we can see how the featured passage also acted as a springboard --the premise from which something deeper is understood.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

    Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    Well…
To use a verse from Ecclesiastes to build a doctrine applying to the New Testament is problematic. Especially when this preacher intentionally ignores some pretty important facts.
    1) if our after death experience will be like Jesus, where is the evidence that Jesus was in some kind of soul sleep prior to the resurrection? 1 Peter 3:19 gives us a clue as to what he was doing-preaching to the SOULS in prison. Which souls? Those who were disobedient during the time of Noah’s flood. Oops, I guess souls do know what’s going on after they die after all.
    2) Moses certainly died, yet he also somehow conversed with Christ on the mount of transfiguration.
    3) the souls under the altar in revelation 6:9-11 certainly aren’t asleep, but crying out for judgement.
    4) this presupposes Christ was not God, as he would cease to have full omniscience during his time in the tomb.
    5) Matt 27:51-53 has some very interesting things happening that certainly don’t support this preacher.
    6) eccl. 9:5 is a favorite of the SDA and their offshoots. While it was the opinion of Solomon, it’s clearly not correct in light of the New Testament.
A)the dead know nothing- refuted by examples above
    B)they have no reward-refuted by 1 cor 3:14, Matt 25:23, Heb 11:6, Rev 22:12, etc etc etc
C)the memory of them is forgotten-either the Bible is just obviously wrong OR this is hyperbole. Hyperbole makes much more sense given the rest of the verse. Which means the whole verse is hyperbolic:) bad way to make doctrine.

Do we see how the word "today" (as used both here & Acts 20:26) becomes the identifier of His statement -firmly establishing the surety of His declaration, rather than acting as a time indicator for when they would be in Paradise together?

In death the separation of the soul from the body, the human body decays and the soul goes to meet God to be judged. Each person receives their eternal retribution in their immortal soul at the very moment of death in a particular judgement that refers their life to Christ - either entrance into heaven, through a purification, or immediately, or immediate and everlasting damnation.
When Christ comes again (Second Coming) to judge the living and the dead, all the dead will rise. Those who have done good will be re-united with their souls in heaven with new glorified bodies. Those who have done evil will be re-united with their souls in hell.

Sorry "auss" you are repeating catholic created doctrine, not the Truth of Jesus Christ. Think,,, how can the "gift" of eternal life be given to an already immortal spirit??

Balderdash. That's not what the Bible teaches. Many churches do. The Bible does not.

When a mortal dies, his body goes into the grave. His soul goes either to hell or to heaven depending on whether he has put his faith in Jesus or not. At the rapture, the bodies of those whose souls are in heaven will be resurrected and rejoined to their souls. These bodies will be glorified bodies, which will behave just like Jesus after his resurrection. You will be able to eat food, but you will also be able to walk through walls and step in and out of the other dimensions in the universe that God has created.
The bodies of those souls who are in hell must wait until after the Millennial Kingdom is over. Satan will be released one more time to gather another rebellious group of people. All of them will eventually be slain by God, and then once that rebellion is put down, all the souls in hell will rise and their bodies will be rejoined. They will stand judgment at the Great White Throne, and then sentenced to an eternity in the lake of fire. Their bodies will be similar to those of the glorified resurrected bodies of the saints, in that they will never burn up or die, or perish. So that means that people who eventually end up in the lake, will feel the flames for all eternity. Might be good to get right with Christ today.

@@CodyBuchanan700 okay soul is synonymous with spirit. When you die, your body goes into the ground. That is evidenced by anyone who has been to a funeral. Most can attest to that truth. Or even cremation applies. So where does your soul/spirit go when your body gives it up? Heaven or hell. That's why we have the story about the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. It tells us that to be absent from the body is either with the Lord, if you are a believer, or in hell if you are not a believer.

Watch: "Beyond Today -- The Rich Man and Lazarus" & "Beyond Today -- The Truth About the Rich Man and Lazarus".
I hope you'll have an open heart in reading Scripture and learning about tge truth, not taking one verse out of context to disprove the other verses, but see how all relate to one another in harmony. God bless!

this is a horrible teaching! We do not soul sleep. When Jesus died he descended into sheol. he went there for two reasons first to take the keys to Hades and hell and then to "take the captives captive." scripture says that when Jesus rose from the dead many graves were open. These were the old testament Saints that were in Abrahams bosom. Before Jesus came into existence in the New Testament there was no such thing as "going to be with the Lord." But since the Lord came into the world there is no more need for Abraham bosom. even the apostle Paul said that it's better to "depart the body and be with the Lord." unless this channel wakes up and realizes the truth of scripture this channel is done.

you need to listen to what he is saying. he is explaining it all. When Jesus died, he descended into sheol. he went there for two reasons first to take the keys to Hades and hell and then to "take the captives captive - what you say isn't even in the bible. 🤨Where is that verse? maybe i missed it. this channel is not done. this channel speaks the truth the problem is that you don't understand it as your eyes have not been open to the truth.

I used to believe in soul sleep without realizing what it was. Scriptures clearly show that the body goes back to the earth from which it was taken. Our present body is this physical one of flesh which when it's soul and breath of life depart leaving it unable to function as a body it ceases to be a living person. A living Soul.
A person who is living has cognitive abilities plus the breath of life which Yehovah has given us. Without one of these 3 things we are not a functional being. We can be unconscious/ without brain abilities yet have the breath of life but we are not a functional complete living being. Brain dead ... vegetative state. One may very well say ones dead.
The body alone is not the living person.
Brain activity alone doesn't make a living person
Only the breath of life doesn't make a person.
All 3 need to be connected in one to be a living person.
Scriptures say that when the body dies it stops feeling and having the ability to discern under this sun or world. It has no part in this world under this sun. It can know nothing that happens under this sun or in this world.
Body of the person is likened to being asleep for the believer.
Yet we know for a fact that the body eventually decays and turns to dust or earth.
Yet what happens to the soul now that it's without a body? It is incomplete it can't participate of anything under the sun or world of the living yet we can or should understand Yeshuas words when he gave the story of Lazarus and the rich man. The Soul without it's physical body goes to the realm of the dead which is the spiritual realm. Sheol has two compartments or places one called Gehenna and the other Abrahams bosom ,Which was called paradise by Yeshua while he hung on the cross.
The reward of the just will be a new body to join with the soul and breath of life. Not like the old body but a glorified one like Yeshua has. It is Yehovahs power alone to concede this to those who have believed in him. A body that is not subject to death.
Those who have rejected Yehovah and Yeshua will not experience this. Their final destruction will be completed both in body and soul in the Lake of fire. Fear not those who can only destroy the body. Fear him who can destroy both the body and the soul.
It is hard to understand these things looking at it with physical eyes. We need to see or understand the spiritual realm with or through spiritual eyes.

You are very close in your description. The only aspect that could be improved would be the souls of the saints who were in Abraham's bosom are still in soul form in heaven today. They did not receive their glorified bodies yet because 1 Thess 4:16-17 has not been fulfilled. At the rapture those in Abraham's bosom will get their glorified bodies first in an instant right before those of us who are alive will be transformed (1 Cor 15:52).
So the graves that were open at the time of Christ's death only applied to those believers who died within the time period that Christ took captivity captive and his appearance after completing his work. Those people got a second chance at life on earth, because once Jesus ascended with the souls they missed that transition, they could no longer be held in Abraham's bosom, but they did not ascend with the rest. So they got a second shot at life on earth before they eventually died naturally again. Then their soul went to heaven.

@@seanc2788 you are so wrong! no one has died and ascended to heaven. Jesus Christ is the only one that has ascended to heaven and now sits at the right-hand side of God on the throne. The bible says what happens when you die, and you don't go to heaven. why do so many people cry and holler at funerals if heaven is supposed to be so great. God has your spirit when you die but you are not floating around on a cloud all day looking at God. The dead are resting in their graves until the resurrection and your spirit will be returned to you. It's all right there in the bible.
There is no such thing as a rapture. There is a resurrection coming (1st (Gods saints) and 2nd (the rest of mankind that didn't know the truth in this lifetime) but the bible doesn't talk about a rapture. Mr. Shabi is telling it exactly the way it is.
