These types of videos are really helpful and enjoyable to watch. Also big + for adding random words with translation during the conversation, that's an awesome idea.

Hola Señor Shun! I'm in Japan now, I was in Osaka a few days ago, and now I'm near Shirahama, Wakayama-ken. Cloudy, hot, and very humid today, but we enjoyed sashimi and sushi at Toretore Ichiba, and now I'm studying Japanese thanks to your very good youtube channel. Thank you for teaching us new techniques to make new friends in Japan, but my wife will not be so happy about that😂.
Yes, I love this kind of video!.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for learning with my channel and glad you enjoyed Osaka!!

Wow, 3months ago before i came to japan it has 30k+ subs and now it has 100k+ sub. Congrats sensei... 🎉

@@JapanesewithShun Waiting😍
thank you sir
Thank you!
Shun-san!
This is the first time I have seen a video by you and I think it's great! I'm subbing.
This is my personal opinion, but I think Kansai-jin and Osaka people in general are less shy and more friendly than a lot of the people you meet in Tokyo.
Thank you so much for subscribing!
I agree! I feel Osaka is more friendly too!!
thanks for the interviews. Im understanding more by listening. I really appreciate channels like this. Learnt a new word kinda. Talk about food? Did i spell that right ?
Thank you so much!!!
Yea talk about food haha
@@JapanesewithShun I'll definitely try to talk about food when I come visit Japan. I'm trying to learn as much Japanese as I can before I visit.
I enjoy theses videos ..are anazing
Thank you so much!!
Hi! This is the second video I've watched from you and I already love it. I can understand the conversation, but I'm still a beginner, so I don't know if this is Osaka dialect or standard Japanese. Is there much of a difference between them?
SOmetomes they speak with a bit of Osaka intonation, but mostly they speak clear Japanese;)
@@JapanesewithShun Thank you! I already recommended your channel to a friend of mine who is also learning Japanese.
It's probably worth spelling out that the valence of 友達 here appears to be a kind of extrovert-level friend: someone to chat lightly with, get a coffee with and see once every few months. We're probably not talking introvert-level blood brothers here, someone you see day after day, confide in implicitly and would do anything for. I believe Polish speakers have a similar problem when trying to gauge English "friend" vs Polish znajomy/przyjaciel.
Thank you for your interesting point of view!

Hola! It’s wwsakbeh! I had to create a new account. Good video. To be honest though, these people did not convince me at all that Japanese people want to speak with non-Japanese people, let alone make friends with them. The guy seemed cool enough but when one has in mind, as he does, who should talk to whom first, well, that not only blocks the flow of communication but is also the sign of a hidden agenda. He expressed that one of his primary goals in connecting with foreigners is to learn English. That is not authentic conversing or friendship. It’s benefiting from a situation. I think westerners enjoy conversation as an end in itself, divested of any gain or benefit. As for shy, maybe, but more so very hierarchical; I can observe that even among middle and high school boys. (To say nothing on that point about among adults!). To be fair though, the language barrier plays a huge part; but I nevertheless think it’s more about a cultural mindset. While the girls who studied in Mexico weren’t exactly open minded, they did at least express that they wanted to give back because of what they had learned from their experiences. If their kind of mindset continues to evolve, it would be a good thing for connecting westerners and Japanese. Sorry that my views come off strong. And thanks as always for your work.
Fully agree. The concept of friendship in Japan is very different from other countries, whether they interact with foreigners or between themselves. There is always a goal or a transactional element. « Friendship » is also much more prevalent through group events such as those of various associations (sports, universities, hobbies, work…). The pleasure to interact with a single person just because there is a good connection and to mutually discover things is very rare. Maybe because this is a culture of tatemae where you keep things for you, including with close family members. It’s one of the most disconcerting things to adapt to life in Japan for foreigners I think…
Thank you so much as always!
It is a very good point that you said here;)
Thank you for sharing your opinion!!
@@user-zn3pe9ch5l Yeah. The story I often hear is that a foreigner thought they've found a real new friend and even after a long time of spending time together they discover it was just for learning English or they were just filling a duty at a workplace or university. Pretty harsh tbh and I hope people start becoming more aware of this.
Haha

Hi Shun, why did the girls say that Osaka is scary? What is scary about Osaka?
Maybe because there are too many people!
@JapanesewithShun ok I see. Thanks!
The open-can girls at the end are right: asking "Let's be friends!" out of the blue is unsettling, creepy and presumptuous. Trust to the magical power of booze...
"Which country do you want foreign friends from" is a really weird question that really highlights how I've felt most Japanese people see foreigners since I've moved to Japan. I wouldnt even know how to answer this question because that's not how people make friends.
I think most of them never met or talked to foreigners so I think they are more curious.
I mean, doesn't everyone want friends from all over the world? ❤
@@symphonicclarity Of course, but I don't know anyone who specifically wants a friend from a particular country. Foreigners aren't Pokemon.
@@3TQHAJSHNQ sure, but you don't want a language exchange partner that can also be a good friend? This isn't hard to understand.
@@symphonicclarity why does the country they're from reflect if they "can be a good friend"? I don't understand what you're getting at.

What is the definition of “外国人” ? If someone has lived in Japan for 30 years and speaks fluent Japanese but was not born here, are they still 外国人? is someone was born in Japan but left for a long time then returned, and not viewed as Japanese anymore, what about that case….
I think 外国人 is simply people who don't have Japanese citizen on the "paper"
😅👏
Thank you!
