My great grand father and great grandmother with my granddad when he was young lived in the wee gate house of the castle gardens my greatgrandfather was the groundsman. Wee bit of history.
Lived there in ‘70-72. Many things and places have changed ! Son was born in hospital there! Loved it, went back to visit 91 was there when the Simon Lake left All the taxi’s were lined up to give a last Farewell ! It’s hard to go back, never the same !
wonderful video craig! i was there in 70-71 in the Navy aboard Canopus. have walked thru Dunoon many times shopping and eating different places. wonderful place to have been. great memories too
I met my wife there in 1970. I lived in Dunoon from 1969-1970 then moved to Greenock. Loved Scotland then years later I found out my great grandfather was born in Greenock.
I have some great memories of Dunoon. I was stationed there in the late 90s with US Navy. What I wouldn't do for a pint of heavy & some fish and chips right now!
Its a Cambell state house in Inverarary thats where the Cambells have the Castle it is beautiful it looks like a castle in a princess Disney Movie you can tour that.
They moved the pier , old one was no longer there! Weirded us out ! They had trips on the Ferries now staying open later, used to be 6-30 pm. Was last run ! My Fiancée at time would wait on the Dunoon side in case I missed the last one, if by chance I missed last Ferry to Dunoon? He would be able to cross on last one.... Had good friends there, my Aunt and Uncle are gone now , friends left to places that had jobs.....
Lovely place. I went here for as short break from Newcastle many years ago and toured around Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. I live in Canada now and miss Northern England and Scotland but will be back again next summer flying to Glasgow and spend a few days in Scotland, visit my twin brother in Kirkcaldy then onto Newcastle and Durham to visit rest of family. York will be on the agenda then fly back home from Manchester 😁
we been missing you Craig. Your wife is becoming quite the vlogger and I have a question for her. How much are you enjoying beautiful Scotland? I myself cannot wait to go.
The building you refer to as a castle” was never a “castle” but a private house built in the mid 19th century by a wealthy Glasgow man. Dunoon castle is the ruin that you were standing on ,complaining about the wind.
Even with the noise I am enjoying it's going to be hard after you leave Scotland though you're gonna have some challenges back in Texas to find stuff is cool is this I'm sure you will though
I remember him fondly! He was one of the sportscasters for ABC Wild World Of Sports, back in the 70s. He was such an animated character! He used to be a world famous F-1 cart driver, winning the Indianapolis 500 a few times. I idolized him when I was a kid! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Stewart

So cool man!! Those stairs looked slippery!
I was kinda scared of them lol
We used to go up those stairs in the snow in winter and slide down that hill on big trays or big peices of cardboard. Lol
I have been looking forward to this next video can't sit wait to see what's in store
There's a couple of more vlogs to come.
Epic timelapse!!! Love the video! Thanks man!
Cheers mate.
So noisy there, but very pretty. There's some cool stuff in Dunoon. I liked the Castle House Museum, rock stairs, & old church/graveyard.
Dunoon is a beautiful place.
I love visiting Scotland. Only a couples hours north from me. Edinburgh is my favourite place so far.... x
I love Newcastle, always been my favourite place to visit :)

@ 11:34 Awesome! have you ever done rubbings of headstones? Some paper and chalk are all you need, and the results are fascinating!
Yeah I've done it a few times.
@ 6:07 What in the world is that??? I'm pretty good at guessing things, but this one has me stumped...
Kentucky Ranger It looks like something that would hold a fire for light.
Did ye no go tae Sinbads, the best pub in Dunoon lol

Really hard to hear you when you're talking about the flags whoever that is making that racket I tell you what
Yeah everywhere we go it's really noisy. I might need to start doing some voice-overs.
