- Hello my aviation lovers!
I hope y'all enjoy this episode featuring NAV Canada's Bombardier CRJ-200ER performing ILS runway tests at Vancouver YVR. NVC101 did ILS checks for all YVR runways starting with 08L then 26R. 26L, 08R and 13 were done later that day due to some technical issues. Cheers all, enjoy!

Live Your Dream
I wondered what they were testing but after reading the description I see, it's amazing what you can learn by reading, lol. Nice shot of the low flyby's and the bird as well in the beginning. Great looking wildlife and aircraft at YVR. Thanks eye trapper, hope your enjoying your weekend.
Haha indeed! Glad you enjoyed the video. Have a good one mate!
Wow, the bird at the beginning is so awesome!
Excellent report from Vancouver, my friend! The NAV Canada CRJ is soooo great. Double thumbs up !!!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Alrighty, Mr. eye trapper! This is your ardent fan, Guerry from the States. Thank-you so very much for the show. Although it was short, I thoroughly enjoyed it. You definitely picked the right day to shoot your video. Although this is a personal opinion, I have found that a slight overcast tends to highlight not only the aircraft’s silhouette, but it also causes other details to be emboldened, and the colors seem to be their sharpest and best contrasted. So as far as your video goes, you really hit the sweet spot! With your permission, I will talk to my buddies at NOAA to see if they can coordinate with their Canadian counterpart to arrange similar conditions for your next plane-spotting video.
As you know, I am curious about everything regarding commercial aircraft. So, after viewing your video, I had to look up all that is involved regarding ILS testing. I found loads of “techno-weenie”, dry as heck material. However, with persistence I did finally hit upon something that quenches the curiosity thirst and is light enough reading too hold the attention of most people. I think this discussion is a good starting point for anyone interested: www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=755413.
But, what would a video be worth if the videographer did not include some of the indigenous birds of the area? Again, I was driven to find out what sort of bird it was that posed for you at the beginning of the video. The best match I could make was that of a blue heron. I also read that it was a very aggressive hunter and a mean one at that. Since I figure that I have you perched on the edge of your seat with curiosity regarding this critter, here is a picture you can check out to see if I am as big a liar as my reputation has me: www.mrussellphotography.com/blog/great-blue-heron-at-coal-harbour/. I just hope the bird has not demanded any royalties, since you did not blur out its face.
Anyway, thank-you so much again for all your effort to bring us this video. I definitely look forward to viewing your next post.
Hello my dude! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Overcast days are my favourite. No backlit footage and heat waves. That is why I tend to film in "bad weather". If possible that would be great! Also ask for some snow. ;D
Haha so am I, If i don't understand or I'm just curious, I'd search it. Thanks for the link!
Birds make a spotting video more "natural". What's better then having metal and fleshed birds in one video! And you are correct, it is a blue heron. They like to snack on frogs and other creatures around YVR. I also contacted Mr. Heron via wings .us, very friendly and was perfectly fine with the free publicity! Lol.
Cheers man! Have a good one!
Great video as always, this one was extra special because of the NavCan flybys.
I got a chuckle out of a thought that popped into my head when at the first flyby, you could hear a lone duck call out and I could swear the duck was saying "You Forgot To Lower Your Landing Gear!"
Thanks! Indeed it was. Haha, must have been annoying 😄
Some of your best work! Tough to maintain the pan as well as you did! Do you know why there were two JAL aircraft @ YVR?
Thank you, indeed it is. One was cargo I believe from the previous day.
Awesome spotting video! The low passes were very cool.
Many thanks man! Indeed they were
Im going take a wild guess here and say it looks like the Nav Canada pilot is an ex RCAF CF18 driver as that is how you do low approach. Cracking as always a big like mate :-)
Thanks man! Maybe 👀😄
I believe that was a crj 200 beautiful livery eye Tapper I love your videos Man you do some beautiful work and great footage
Many thanks! I appreciate it
Very nice. A mixture of nature and wildlife like the eagle(was it) at the start of the video was indeed very pleasant. Certainly hope NAV Canada passed all the ILS checks.
Glad you enjoyed! It was a blue heron!
Love watching Nav Canada do a fantastic job maintaining the ILS. Can’t wait to see an inspection in person.
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video as always bro, those turns were so cool!
Thank you mate! Indeed they were
we are on 👍
Can't wait to see the beauty
NAV Canada: doing a quick flyby of the runways and inspecting ILS

I really really really really really enjoyed this video!
I'm glad!
@@eyetrapper 😄👍
any new made jets made by the company are mitsubshi but a 19 yr old
Which begs the question, which was the last one made by Bombardiers’ Aerospace division (Bombardier Aerospace)?
Nice video
Thanks!
Sharp lookin bird
Amazing video.
Thanks
@@eyetrapper you're welcome 😊.
@@eyetrapper keep posting magnificent videos.
@@alohatvn many thanks!
@@eyetrapper you are welcome.
I'm not sure if being a Nav Canada pilot would be fun, or boring? I would think maneuvering into position, low level flyby's and go arounds would be fun!
Beautiful my friend⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😍👍
Thanks man
Nice video keep it up I love your video is good quality keep it up and don't give up
Many thanks!
@@eyetrapper Your welcome
Muito lindo 👏👏
Nice👍👍 can Canadians travel to Japan?
Thank you, I believe so yes.
i wouldnt call it a mitsubshi as most people know it as a bombardier crj

Nice 👍
Sweet 😊
Super Video9

Yes! I am eagerly waiting for it.
Can’t wait to see the flyby and the other planes!
Can’t wait for this!!
And again an awesome Compilation !!! LIKE
Many thanks man!
That thumbnail looks so cool! Can't wait for it 😀
It’s almost as if NAV Canada was passing by low and more than once because they knew that the one and only eye trapper was there to record them! Incredible video!!
Except ILS calibration isn’t done with just one flypast.

Sooo exited!
Those birds were so close... scared the poop out of me.
Looking forward to it.
They were having a great day
At Berlin Tegel Airport (which will close in two weeks), the two runways are calibrated about three times a year.
Wow, we get it done every year.
Aye I saw that irl! So cool!
*eh
OHH CANT WAIT
awesome shots, mate! The low flyby's were awesome to see! Great stuff :)
Thanks man! Indeed
Beautiful. I think you featured the Nav jet in an earlier posting. Looks very familiar.
Thank you! Yes around September last year

Great footage. NAV Canada never disappoints.
Thanks man! Indeed.
Cool heron chilling in the intro. Amazing footage!
Indeed 😄 cheers man
Excellent catch! Canadian Aviation At Its Finest :D
Thank you!
Very cool👍👍. Liked
Every time they inspect I’m always at work
Hopefully they do it on a Saturday next time 🤞
Very nice flyby! Can tell that autumn is in full swing in Vancouver, beautiful!
Indeed!
Wow here in Australia they use B300 king airs and Bombardier Challenger 604 for ILS work
Awesome!
We did have the Challengers, but the increased maintenance costs for their aging airframes made it cheaper to upgrade the RJs for navaids calibration. The RJ is pretty empty compared to the Challengers during a Flight Cal.
Woohooo. Did you see our delta airlines I believe partnering with WestJet. Or American but think delta
No I haven't, interesting!
*great* .Thanks
Great low pass
That’s so coolllllll!!!!!
😄👍
Amazing catches including the flyby!
Glad you enjoyed
@@eyetrapper I sure did
Is it coming back any time soon?
Maybe next year

Oh wow!
BTW, what exactly is NAV Canada?
Navigations Canada. They provide all the instruments and equipment to run Canadian airports.
@@eyetrapper That's cool!
Nav Canada is Canada's ANS Air Navigation Service provider. They are the Canadian version of the FAA, they provide all air traffic control as well as all ground based navigation and surveillance equipment I.e. ILS/VOR/ground air communications as well as RADAR. Nav Canada, and other ANSs in collaboration with Irridium communications has created the 1st space based ADS-B surveillance which now provides radar coverage around the globe, before this there was no radar coverage over vast empty areas such as Canada's north, Antarctica, Africa and the oceans. This space based ADS-B was the system that verified the 2 Boeing 737 Max flight paths and accidents were identical.
very impressive , great video mate
Many thanks!
Mitsubishi CRJ??????????????? -- thought they were Canadair/Bombardier
Mitsubishi bought the name
Still made by Bombardier
Amazing job/content as always!!
Thank you
Didnt know the rapper nav had a private jet damn
better burn some more of our fare fuel surcharge and check that backcourse too, lol
There is no backcourse on a Normarc ILS, there is a complete reciprocal ILS. That's why they flew 08 at the beginning of the video and flew 26 at the end.
