- The full session where I crashed. Also my first ever session at inters.....so I'm taking it as a positive in a way :D I felt fast...especially sliding across the ground that was super fast :D Anyway....yeah....it happened.
Sorry about the sound, this was only supposed to be a session I was going to grab some b roll off with the 360 camera but....well. I crashed. Oh well :D It still sounds okish I think!
The crash is from about 11:20

Mental State: I don't own near enough bikes.
#crash #motorcycle #racing
The problem is, with my expert opinion & that's the best opinion is that you crashed because the motorcycle is meant to stay upright. What you done was put the motorcycle on it's side.
I am a self proclaimed expert.
Hahaha yes. I do believe that is precisely what did happen. How did no one else see this yet. I'm embarrassed 😂
unlucky pal, its a strange feeling when your in the middle of laying down a bike, same thing happened me at kirkistown track on my fireblade, only the front end washed out , went straight back out again after i got bike sorted, main thing is to enjoy it and feel more confident getting your body off the bike more , everything else will fall into place, good luck
Sorry I missed this! For some reason RUclips held the comment for review, no idea why!
I would have been straight back out as well just didn't have enough parts to sort it on the day! Won't make that mistake again :) Yeah I have the rear shock booked in to be set up more for my size and I had the rear tyre at too high a pressure it turns out! It's all learning :) Can't wait to be back out now! Thanks!
Some one already said it GB. caught your slider on the apex and list traction at the rear wheel. Really glad you're okay. I have always said if I have to crash I want to low side. High sides hurt a hell of a lot more. The bike is easier to fix than the body. Stay safe but Have fun. 👍👍
Cheers from Canada🇮🇪🇨🇦
A few people said a few things, I didn't catch my slider on the apex as I told them :) I'd have felt it and it wouldn't cause loss of rear traction anyway unless I let off, which you can see/hear I didn't :)
Haha yeah a nice gentle low side I'll take any day over a high side!! Depends on the injuries, bruises are a lot cheaper than rear sets I've found :P I will :)
Crashing a bike always sucks, but I’m glad to,see you walk away mate.
That's it man, it sucks but once you can stand straight back up it's not so bad eh :)
Unfortunate mate. At least you and the bike are okay 👍
Ah were all good now :) I've done about 5 track days on it since too and managed to not crash so all is good 😁
Looks like loads of fun minus the load side of course. Great 360 footage. Awesome! I loved seeing the wheelie out of the right hander from the marshals perspective.
It was brilliant, until....yeah that bit :D Thanks, the 360 takes time to edit but is cool :) Haha you're not supposed to wheelie :P
Bugger, least your ok looks like you caught your slider on the apex and unsettled the rear.
Least it was a slide not a high side
Ride safe out there buddy
It never actually touched, on the 360 cam in editing I have a few mm there, by the looks of it the tyre gave up before the apex anyway. I dunno. I'll have to change the shock anyway.....need to win the lotto :D Yeah a high side would have been fairly devastating.
Thanks man, you too!
Glad you are ok. I have the same issue as you on that standard suspension is not suitable for our weight. I punt my Griso around the track. They are to be ridden not just looked at.
Thanks bud! :) Yeah it's not at all, should have known, I'll know for next time! Haha exactly, I'd rather enjoy it for a short time than look at it forever :)
Great footage, have you done any post processing? I find insta 360's 360 footage lacks detail when I record. Lovely bike, what caused the sudden loss of traction on the rear?
Thanks! I use premiere pro for editing and colour grade very gently myself, I also up the sharpness as well as I find raw it looks a bit meh in premiere pro.
What we figured in the end was my shock was 20 odd years old and basically never uncompressed before that corner. Track tyres and a new shock and I never had the same issue again!
Nice little wheelie! :D
You were looking proper fast mate, that SRAD has some good poke! :-)
You took a proper tumble, very glad to see you get up from that and get the bike upright.... and started again, awesome!
We'll pretend I wasn't in the wrong gear :D
Thanks, quickish but I need to make changes to the rear set positioning to to make my movements a bit smoother :) Ah man it's so addictive to drive on on :)
Yeah I was lucky there weren't may injuries to me or the bike :D The floats seems to still be right and all :D
@@TheGorillaBiker having an off sucks, but you'll bounce back and learn from it 🙂
Ah can't wait to get back out again now tbh! I'm annoyed I binned it 😂
glad you're ok.
Thanks Jay!
If you ain't rubbing, you ain't racing!
As someone told me, if you aren't crashing you're not trying hard enough :D
Looked good through the session. Keep doing what you are doing. If you do fit a new rear shock you may have to stiffen up the front in case it overloads it. Don't change too many things at once, including your own riding. I would just focus on getting those feet up out of the way.... Good video, even if the 360 does make me feel sea sick lol...
Ah I was having a blast :) I'll definitely try to! The front has more to go stock so hopefully it'll be ok, the rear I already knew wasn't great for me, I think I mentioned it previously even....should have listened to myself :D Yeah I'm going to adjust the rearsets a bit to try make it possible for me to get a better position. Yeah the 360 was only intended for little bits for a mix video but well....yano had to make do :D
GO ON YEAH BOY YA ON THE BACK WHEEL ON THE STRAIGHT 😉 👍 feckin gutted for you you were going well until the event happened.... I'm no expert or anything and I'm sure you have gone through the footage 1,000 times but any possibility the foot peg bottomed out looks very close to it?
Haha mostly accidental, wrong gear :D Ah yeah I was having a blast, to be honest looking at the 360 footage up close in editing I didn't budge or let off so I'll defer to Chris and agree it was the suspension. The peg still had clearance and you can see the tyre give up by the black mark so....I dunno really I'm just listening to people who know more than me, all I know is kerbs hurt :D
At least it looked cool in the video 😉.. yeah I would value his opinion over others that Chris guy looks like he knows what he's doing you and all the other guys were going hard at it and he's like out on a Sunday spin 😂...
@@cathallennon5968 haha yeah I did enjoy it :P
Hahaha man it's hilarious you're going hell for leather and he's there taking notes 😂😂 He's some man
@@TheGorillaBiker 😂😂🤘
You dealt with that crash like a boss
Haha I was just delighted I didn't break anything on myself or the bike :D
Is that the same right hander where MotoDragon came unstuck?
No he was at turn 2 that's turn....ehhh like 4 from the end of the lap :D
@@TheGorillaBiker I wasn’t sure. I’ve watched your spill a few times and you did absolutely nothing wrong. I can’t say why the rear broke out like that cos I’ve never set up a bike for the track, but I can say that when it did there was absolutely nothing you could have done. But I did think of one silver lining; “This is how we become better riders.”. I wish I’d had the sense to get into track days. I might have ended up in less fields lol. Ride Safe Brother 🙏🏻😎🏴
Ah I could have taken it handier and leaned less but sure look I know for next time :D Ah the smart peoples say suspension so I'll go at that first and hope it fixes it somewhat, we'll have to wait and see....which is a tad scary :D Yeah that's it really, if it improves me for next time it's not a total loss :) Hahaha but then you wouldn't have all the great stories :D You too man :)
dang!
Wouldn't recommend the whole crashing thing 😂😂😂
First reaction to falling, did anyone see, is the bike okay?
I really just wanted to get straight over to it :D
atleast it was on the track matey, was a good watch apart from the drop
i watched it a few times back, it looks like your knee made contact, you jerked from that and it broke the back end away.
atleast thats how it looks to me.
glad your ok though and im guessing not to much damage done.
Haha yeah I didn't enjoy editing it either :D
It barely did, but if you watch the tyre it was actually gone before that I think. Watching on the 360 cam in editing I didn't react or let off. So not that, I'd nearly be happier if it was then I wouldn't have to spend money on suspension :D
I'm grand thanks man, the bike will be all sorted soon too nothing major :)
Such a nice crash always a good crash when you can get back on after 🤣🤣
Elegant some would say. I did a 5 star pirouette and all over the kerb.
I would have been much more sad if I couldn't have ridden it back in
@@TheGorillaBiker like a ballerina 👌👌😂😂
Always sad when something breaks and can't ride for a while, was there much damage
A master of the flying twirl 😂
Ah I should have it sorted soon hopefully. Exhaust, right rear set, crash bung/engine mount, indicator, fairing and possibly float heights. All in all a lucky escape. Already removed the engine mount bolt that got snapped and bent the exhaust midpipe back for the new end can. Oh and an exhaust hanger. My lovely srad one is goosed :'(
@@TheGorillaBiker I'd love to do a track doy but not Untill I get engine covers not having it grind through the casings again 🤣🤣
Poor gsxr it'll be OK 😂😂
Yeah I'm going to look in to extra protection myself :D Ah it's forgiven me already I think :D
You felt those cobbles 24hrs later!
Haha I'm actually grand, a bit bruised all over but nothing bad, I've done about 500km on the other bikes in the last 3 days so I'm fully functional :D
Tips
Smooth is fast!
Riding smooth and consistent is the best way to keep it on the black stuff and improve gradually.
Use all the track before and after apex.
You dont need to use the clutch to up shift.
Just flick the wrist in sync with your gear changes ✊
Haha I wanted to use the clutch, it's safer :D
@@TheGorillaBiker you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make the horse drink it.
I can clutchless shift if I want to, I was just focussing on other stuff so didn't need another variable :)
@@TheGorillaBiker lol!! Your destroying your clutch. Your not on your motorcycle test your on a race circuit!
The reason you crashed is not that you out performed your suspension.
The truth is your riding erratic! So your a accident waiting to happen again and again!
That bike is more than capable. Your lapping very slow but on the edge of crashing on every turn.
Look at all the other bikes bunched up behind you?
Your too slow for inters.
Alright bud I'll listen to the Marshalls and not aggressive experts on the internet have a good one 👍😂
Bit too happy on the throttle and probably on road tyres. Seemed to give very easy. Lesson learned I'm sure
Glad your ok GB 👍 can I ask was there much difference between riding on the Honda and riding on the Suzuki on the track👍🏍
Thanks bud! Yes, the GSXR was a good bit more fun and felt a lot faster, I haven't checked times yet but I'd say I was consistently much faster on the GSXR until....well yano. To be honest tho I'd happily take the CBF again too :)
ah shit man i feel sick just watching her slide across the tar, least yer ok the bike can be fixed.
I won't lie the auld scrapey noises when I was editing made me flinch every time but sure look, these things happen sadly. It's nearly fixed already :)
Question, what are you doing in terms of tire temperature? AND DAMN! HE POPPED THE WHEELIE ON THE FINISH STRAIGHT! xD
Riding on them? :D They're road tyres so no warmers etc. Haha I was in the wrong gear :D
Oh...b*gger, a shame mate, but the bike can be sorted 👊🏼
Ah yeah it's mostly sorted already, a pity but it's grand :)
What 360 cam are you using? Is it the insta360 range?
It's an insta360 one x2
@@TheGorillaBiker oh awesome, footage looks super crisp.
@@AiroRider I have to say I'm absolutely delighted with it, brilliant camera :)
@@TheGorillaBiker I've been toying with the idea of buying one. Used my company's one for a ride I did on the Speed 1200RS, and the footage was awesome. Just waiting for a decent special to grab one.
I would recommend it tbh, I've been very happy with this one. Send a message to @Hippo-Drones, he usually has some bundle deal knocking around, I've never seen them on sale really!
What year is your bike I have a 96 srad 750
Your is 96 to
Sucks to see you go down you will get it fixed up ✌️🇨🇦
Yep same as :) Ah I already have it mostly fixed so it'll be grand :)
Least you are OK that's the mainthing had a similar experience the last time I was up there also
Yeah bikes can be repaired or replaced :) Ah sorry to hear that, it's grand once you're not hurt but it still sucks.
Yep sore shoulder and hip i lowsided mine but it was my fault not enough heat in the tyre but lesson learned lol
I hope you heal up soon anyway lad, I'm in a similar situation, mainly hip and elbow. Ah sure look, that's what the track is for eh!
@@TheGorillaBiker I'm all good now man I'll be up there Sunday and make up for lost time lol
@@colinkerwick1021 Glad to hear it man, have fun!! I fair wish I could go up again Sunday...a bit of money to spend first :D
Are you ok ,you can always fix the ride?
I'm 100% fine :) I go through injuries and stuff in the talky video on the crash :) Yep, the bike is running and rideable again already :) All is good!
@@TheGorillaBiker glad all is well ,rest and start a fresh day this is all a new learning experience
For you you only will get better 🦅🇺🇸🏍🏍👍👍
That's it, shock will be changed now on every bike forever going forward! Hopefully anyway, thanks Kim :)
I love this bike even more now. It sings.
It really really does, it's so addictive being able to redline it on the track :D
I havnt watched this one yet and its strange because it is very close to home for me at this moment in time. I have a proposition to offer you which i think you might be very interested in have you any way i can contact you privately and i can forward u my number and some details. Peace..
Yeah no bother man, you can email me at thegorillabiker@gmail.com or send me a message on instagram :)
Too much lean of the bike .you should get off the saddle more than the bike.
