    To answer the question about the hammer Grandpa is holding, it’s his killing tool, originally designed for whacking cattle on the head

  • @RooksTemplar
    @RooksTemplar Год назад +11

    Also the hammer may be a direct reference to the scene in the movie where the hitchhiker and bubba try to put the mallet in grandpas hand and try to line up a shot for him to try to smash in Sally’s head over a bucket. They had her bent over the bucket in front of grandpa and he kept fumbling with the hammer and that’s when Sally makes the start of her escape.

      From watching the "Behind the scenes" of the devs making this game - I'm pretty sure this animation/execution will actually be in the final game. They did have a mocap of this very scene from the movie

      @@peleq86 that’s cool it was actually more unsettling to me than the dinner scene. Such an effective movie for so little actual gore. It’s my gateway horror movie to get people into horror that hate horror .

    The grandfather was a prolific murderer and pig farmer, in his prime strong enough to kill an adult bull pig with that mallet. With one good swing to the skull which is quite a feat cause pigs have very thick skulls 😮

    This looks fun, perhaps a lot of running around, but still fun

    Tru3 you can hear the generator when it's running. Engine noise = no front escape. Also... maaaaybe you trapped Cookie on the far side of the electricity lol.

    He was a murderer but before that, he used the mallet to kill a pig in one swing. Started one hit killing humans when he started cannibalism. He's One Hit Grandpa

    I think a good way to balance the current issue of just spamming noise notifications to get a tool / open a crawling space etc would be to do the following: currently you get a big boost to progress and noise if you tap the "E/use" button and gain progress and noise slower if you hold it down. For those that choose to spam "E" clicks, make it so if youre making max noise, your progress meter will increase by less than a silent click. That way, if you choose to be noisy, you will still complete your task faster but only by a few seconds than if you did it silently. This makes being noisy an option to get a tool in 10 secs, whilst silently getting a tool takes 12-13 secs (numbers are made up).
    The whole mechanic of having to focus on lockpicking doors is excellent as youre forced to take it slow and hence focus on the door for longer which breaks up your train of thought and focus as a survivor which is spot on how it should be. I think they intend for it to be same sort of case to have to focus on getting items but maybe had an oversight on the lack of real downsides to grabbing things noisily.
    Alternatively, they could keep the speed but maybe make the notifications more noticeable for the killers with a sound notification playing every time someone is noisy as at the moment i see people dont notice the sound notifications too often when playing the family. So yeah, just balancing the noise notifications to actually be something to avoid is necessary. Maybe a fun idea would be to make grandpa immediately scan for survivors (without a warning) if he hears too many loud noises at once (excluding noises from killers) to slow the game down too?
    Look forward to hearing your ideas too guys, hopefully the devs nail this part of the game for release as i get what they want with the noise notifications but currently are underselling them and hence they need to be made a stronger tool for the family that the survivors shouldnt be so happy to give!

      It's still really early to decide exactly where the balance should be yet, killers need to coordinate and communicate to be successful, they kinda need to act like a SWF.
      TrU3 being a pretty sweaty player might struggle with having to rely on teammates in the killer role whereas survivor seems more suited to solo play in this game. In any case the gameplay loop seems much more interesting here than in DBD as far as survivors having many different potential objectives for escape and the focus being more on stealth makes survivor gameplay actually seem more fun to me.

    • @yann9915
      @yann9915 Год назад +1

      @@JohnDoe-ix4kx indeed, it is too early to say for sure but the noise system does need a revisit because as you say, the fun comes from being stealthy! So people running around and making a lot of noise as its waaaaay faster than being stealthy beats the point of the game and takes fun out it, hence my initial comment :D

      it should cost your stamina bar to rush an action like getting lockpicks/bones, atm it's just sprint to it --> stamina regens while spamming and waiting to spam again --> sprint to objective

    • @JohnDoe-ix4kx
      @JohnDoe-ix4kx Год назад

      @@yann9915 There are some much better videos of just how amazing coordinated and effective killer teams can be, unfortunately TrU3's videos are mostly newbie killers without any strategy whatsoever.
      Interestingly the noise survivors make revealing their position is actually not so important to killers unless they're already nearby, it's the killers coordination in delaying survivor objectives, patrolling choke points and feeding grandpa that wins the game, too many killers commit to chasing survivors around unnecessarily when it's delaying survivor objectives that are the most important factor, unlike DBD the killers actually have time on their side.
      Knowing where the survivors currently are is less important than knowing where they are heading.

    • @yann9915
      @yann9915 Год назад

      @@JohnDoe-ix4kx interesting that you say that, as how would killers be able to effectively patrol everything as isnt there too many locations for items and escapes for killers to be able to watch everything? And i get what you're saying and if the family can truly lock down everything then the map will need a bit of a change.
      Im not trying to undermine what you're saying or trying to say the family is currently too strong/weak, simply giving my two cents on the fact that the noise feature isnt being utilised to its full potential and thats a bit sad as the idea of having to be stealthy is what sounds the most fun to me :p
