One thing I wanted to add: IF YOU ARE AN INFP, whatever it is you REALLY want to do, do it as soon as possible. Don't wait for someone else to give you their permission, the freedom, or the opportunity to pursue YOUR dreams. Trust in yourself...you can make it happen!

Good words, and yes, dear fellow INFPs, do it rather quick and get it running, don´t get to perfectionistic in 'How to' pursuing your dreams because that would only slow you down, do it effective and refine it later on the fly.
Remember, you need lots of experiences to fuel your Fi and Si. So in order to have more fulfilling and wonderful moments in life, don´t just plan to get your act togehter, actually get your ACT together. ;)
Fear only helps if your perception of it is to Feel Excited And Ready. You know why you want to do it, so do it. Faster! Things will come together quicker and easier when you are moving; really!
Wasn´t it always like this once you stepped over your shadow and faced the 'fear'?

Being an INFP myself I can appreciate this “pep talk”! We are definitely plagued by perfectionistic pursuits which can obviously hinder our productivity. I don’t know how many projects/ ideas I have gotten excited about only to find them never to exit my head OR something that does creep out but only gets halfway completed. These ones will typically get added to the crumbled up paper basketball shot points average and no one ever gets to see “anything”.
It’s a big, loud, scary, world out there that is full of criticism and people who can’t see or appreciate our ideas. This is essentially because we struggle at times to articulate them outward properly so we just “give up”.
I am one who does strive to step out of the “comfort zones” quite often and even though it is hard to do it does add more confidence to your wheelhouse I will say. However, I know who I am and joining a long term social gathering once a week ain’t happening just because I did some speech in front of a bunch of people a couple months back.. that gathering would also distract from all those beautiful ideas I have in my head that need worked on (lol)!
      Thanks again for the motivation!!

Well Yes and no, there's more to it than just that. Just because someone has a E in front doesn't mean they can't be introverted. Just because someone has an I in front doesn't mean they can't be extroverted. But an Ixxx can't be super high on the extroverted spectrum, and an Exxx can't be super high on the introverted spectrum either. All these types are, it's just trying to bring down on the cognitive functions. You can have ENFPs that are more introverted than INFPs, and you can have INFPs that are more extroverted than ENFPs. So for an ENFP for example, in order to be one. Your savior should be extroverted intuition, which is more on gathering concepts, while 2nd Dom should be introverted feeling. Meaning more on self-values. While INFPs savior is introverted feeling, 2nd dominant should be extroverted intuition. Hope this makes sense.

When I take MBTI tests, I always get results such as: 60 I, 40 E. What I've come to notice is that I tend to be shy around strangers or people I don't vibe with, but I love being with people I trust/care for (I have more energy around them sometimes, other times I just feel more secure?) even if I don't know what to talk about (small talk; I actually get very excited with deep conversations and it's hard to stop talking). I prefer being with people and say nothing, than being on my own and figuring things by myself lol

I am INFP and I just cried so much before this video suddenly appears. I never apply to regular jobs from the start because I already know that's not good for me, and I've started doing a little business and also kind of want to be active on youtube. But what makes me cry is in my country, it's not really common for people to not get a job, all my friends already settle for their not so happy but give them some money anyway jobs. Sometimes, well not sometimes honestly almost all the time, I feel so sad and why it's so hard to be me and maybe other INFP feel this too.

Hey Sky, I truly know how you feel. I'm on a journey where I try to create a perfect job for myself. There is no job out there that thrills me or makes me feel passionate except the one I envision in my mind. I grew up in a family where a "normal job" is obligatory and everything beyond that is just a dream.. a phantasy. We both need to remind ourselves that we live in a very modern world where limits don't exist (scientifically and spiritually). There is no right or wrong and just because we do not live in the USA doesn't mean we don't have the right to be what we are desiring to be. You just have to intend a desire and without doubt believe the universe provides you with everything that helps you to reach your goal. Your fear is just an illusion. Think about your business and envision yourself in it daily and get excited because it's already yours and just a matter of time for you to experience it. I highly recommend you to read the power of your subconscious mind by Joseph murphy and ask and it's given by the Hicks. It changes your mindset. I truly know how you feel because I struggle in a very similar way but today I know that there is nothing that holds you back but your old limiting beliefs. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Sending you love and blessings, Saphira (your Enfp friend)

I quit job for 2 times. After my university graduation, I do searching for jobs (try what everyone else doing, try to make my mom proud). And I got it, I work but I was become such a weirdo lost soul that anyone can't get along with me (even my team). But lucky me I still had 2 friends that really suited myself. That pressure of being "why I can't blend myself with my team" burdened me day by day so I resigend. I move to other bigger city and get a job at kinda better, famous, well known company. Ofc I am happy! But again, I can' fit in with anybody. Even it's harder to find like just 1 or 2 person that shared a same brain cell with me. I cried everyday in front of my computer with no one knew. I felt so lonely and why I can't do this right? Why I am who I am today? Keep blaming myself and it leads me to depression. I locked myself for several days in my rent house. Lost appetite, won't stop crying. I can't forced myself to proceed in working there. If I do, I would feel like a walking zombie which my heart seem to death and I don't know I still survive for what. So I resigned.

Currently, I aim to study phd (studies are always safe for us INFPs, like Dan said 😅), however, I realized that I don't like my discipline that much, and I don't know how am I going to motivate myself during 3 years at minimum.
Lately, I found out that I could possibly study work psychology (the discipline I really crave for) without the need of prequisite in psychology. All i need is to make sure that it is really possible for me with my backgrounds, and to shock my surroundings with the changing plan 😅 (currently I am.still evaluating all the pros and cons; an other INFP's thing).

This is so interesting! I’m an ENFP and frequently wanna take risks, pursue a creative career, and I always get distracted and curious with “shiny” things, but I have been raised in a way that is definitely risk-averse (other than pursuing things I’m really super interested in/relatively good at) which is fine, generally speaking, and I stand by a lot of it. My boyfriend is an INFP and always ends up taking way more risks because he’s been brought up just the opposite way, despite any discomfort he feels. I think that as we get older, the roles will probably reverse a little bit as we establish steady-ish footing because we’re both young. I can definitely see the ways in which we individually process the idea of risks in our minds during our separate lives and then ultimately decide upon something that is not what either of us felt drawn to do. It’s really just because of the “filter” that has been instilled in our minds from the pressures of people we are surrounded with. Not that either influence is inherently negative, but this has certainly given me something to think about!

  • @sandrad9695

ENFP - 51-year-old female. Always wanted to be self-employed but was raised to be risk-averse. Kind of a paradox, always craving change and excitement but afraid to pursue it. Got let go from my job 6 weeks ago and am finally pouring myself into my side business. I'm trying to get it up and running and paying for itself so that when unemployment runs out I don't have to get another job working for somebody else, at least not a full-time one. Definitely exciting, but also scary. So I guess I'm more like an INFP in the realm of business and finances, kind of cautious. But it's because of my upbringing. I'm looking forward to changing in this area!

This makes a lot of sense to me because the inferior function of INFPs (btw hi, I'm an INFP) is Te, the function that likes to go get things done. ENFPs have their Fi and Te better balanced, but it's a lot more imbalanced for INFPs, which is why we're more comfortable sticking to what's safe than jumping on an opportunity or striking out to realize our dreams. This isn't an excuse, but a direction for growth: if we can learn and practice exercising that Te, *doing things*, then we'll find our lives coming more into balance and feel better about ourselves for it.

I'm a split between the two slightly higher toward introversion. It's like having two speeds. Half the time I love to socialize and engage, the other half is charging up. Whenever I find myself having to go one speed much more than the other I feel trapped. Balance is key for me.

People need to stop thinking too black and white, it is not wether you are an Introvert or an Extrovert, because you might be and Ambivert and that is why yiu are feeling you are them both. I think that people's personality is normally distributed on the chart so that most of us we are something from the middle of each "letter". This is just one point of view of mine.
I am an INFP and gotta say about taking risks, I have had a gambling problem (still occasionally do it) and I like to take risks because I am too optimistic with the outcome. Because for us INFP types, being a burden on others or acting irresponsibly, or even being vulnerable, is a huge issue man. ENFP are warm open, INFP tend to be so reserved and private, we dont open or trust easy when something is personal or matters deeply to us. Yeah taking a step back, and sorting out a more pragmatic feeling approach in our eyes makes sense for our own well being as well as the well being of those afflicted by our being. We also get overwhelmed and isolated, we feel alone, the struggle for us with everything is great for us and notoriously messes with our motivation and has a lot to do with the suicidal memes, lol. Some truth there... our stoic disposition is mostly a boon though. Should I make some coffee or end my exsistance... well fuck it lets get on with things then... thats the INFP disposition. You kinda don't get us at all, being fair though we dont let people and politely keep it to ourselves. We are stronger and and more consistent then we look, its not fear.. its something more ruthless that drives us.

I’m INFP and I definitely agree with this. I think it has to do with Fi and Si looping. But I think is missing here is that INFPs are a lot better at focusing on something than ENFPs are and are less likely to give up or move on because of that. INFPs might be slow but they tend to build stronger skills or experience overtime.

I'm an INFP. I'm pretty spontaneous in day to day life actually and get sucked in by "shiny object syndrome" quite a bit. But with the big decisions in life, such as choosing to start a business or quit my job or move out of my parents house, I tend to stick to the safer option, which is what I know, in this case, staying at my job is more secure and there's less risks involved. I've noticed also that ENFPs tend to be far more comfortable with rebuilding their identity and taking criticism on board, but as an INFP, though i love self improvement and self development, if I really care about something, it's hard for me to change, and I get offended really easily. I always test as an INFP. I don't have issues calling myself as an introvert since I'm confident and fine being on my own (maybe it was due to the fact that I was the only child for 11 years until I got my sibling). I can't really call myself as an extrovert too but I'm totally okay with social gatherings as long as it interests me and I'm with the people I enjoy I can be the life of the party.
The parts discussed in this video about ENFP as risk takers is totally true for me. Even if knowing ahead what will be the outcome (since I worried myself about things in my head enough times already 🤣) if I feel like I'm on the point of no return, even if its the hardest choice to take I'll jump into it head on (there I did it -is what I would tell myself) and later contemplate about my decision and blame myself (you already expected this, didn't yah?).
I'm a 24 year old who feels like I'm at a lost in this world. I was supposedly a teacher but didn't pursue getting a job related to it. I always question what I really want to do in this life. I had a stable job with good working environment but I quit it I don't know why I feel emptiness in me. Get another job, I excel to it but still doesn't satisfy me. I contemplate that I should've tried more to get to know myself when I was younger.

i am ENFP my boyfriend is INFP. The first time we met (not physically, we met at discord cuz a friend brought me there) I was like I always am, just talking with ppl I just met like we know each other for years. He was pretty quiet, but also kind. At some point the other ppl went to bed, and he started talking more and more, I was happy about that and also happy about finding out we have much in common, cuz ppl tend to say :" hey we have so much in common" but I usually don't feel that way and response something like :" yeah sure, we both need to eat and sleep and drink...." but in this case it was just different. We met multiple times on discord just to talk. i noticed that we share the same values and thoughts, we are even reacting the same way at the same time at some situations. But there are differences too, I noticed he has a much stronger desire to feel safe, while i am like sure feeling safe is fine but i don't need it that much. He is much more patience with ppl than me while i have more patience in general just not with ppl. I am getting annoyed faster, and if we both are annoyed about something, it's most likely me, who speaks it out loud. We both have an entire world in our heads we tent so sink in some times, but he does it more often than me. We both feel intense feelings, but he keeps it inside when other ppl are around cuz he's much more private than me, while i share it with everybody. I am more dominant than he is, he sometimes even is a bit shy, just a bit, and I think that's cute. We are a bit different when it comes to pll we don't like, he would most likely ignore these ppl while I would be sarcastic and ironic towards them if they ask for it, else I would ignore them, too. What I love the most about him is his kind and loving nature and that he even understands my wired wibbly-wobbly thoughts xD.

She's smart and funny, and artistic and outgoing and strong and yet hesitates to change and forgives people too easy (in my ENFP opinion). She connects with music on a deep personal level. We both have a natural no judgement rule. We share the same ideas and morals and goals. I definitely think I drive us more in a direction, and I'm always telling her to rebel and/or just do it. Go for it. But shes doesn't normally and thats okay-- She's her own person. That being said, while we're so similar, we're also so different. Sometimes I think shes braver then me even. She'll do something like snap back at someone, and I never would have done that, even if I wanted too, cause I think it doesn't really matter in the end. She has much more patience for people then I do. We seem to be such a perfect match that it's crazy to think of how we found each other at the young age that we did, before our personalities were so set and developed. Maybe we each played a part in developing them?

in mbti, there is no such thing as ambivert. you are either introverted of extroverted. you could be introverted enfp or extroverted infp. in mbti concept, there's this thing called function stack.
here are the function stack of infp and enfp:
infp: Fi - Ne - Si - Te
enfp: Ne - Fi - Te - Si
you can notice that the first two functions of both types are same, but on different order. Fi is Introverted feeling, Ne is extraverted intuition. so infp is driven more by feelings followed by intuition (Fi first, then Ne) while enfp is driven more by intuition followed by feelings (Ne first, then Fi). both types are similar and pretty understandable if you get a sense of "mix of two personalities", but if you want to determine your type you can ask yourself: are you driven more by feelings or intuition?

Why do ENFPs change more often?

    • @KediHrsz123
      @KediHrsz123 4 года назад +6

@@alexandra9944 Enfp's tend to think they are introverts too often because of the Fi function. Because they care about vibes, and their own feelings; they might outcast themselves from people to understand what they really want or they really didn't like those people and that makes them think they are introverts. Being an enfp or Infp doesn't really depend on your introversion though. An Infp might be more social than an enfp. It all depends on what is your majority in your functions. People think that enfp's are more social because they usually are. Enfp's change more than Infp's. Because Enfp's use extroverted intuition as their first function while Infp's use it as the second. Ne (extroverted intuition) is the function of possibilities, change and novelties. So you can say that enfp's can get more confused with who they are in all those possibilities.

INFP here. This is spot on! There have been many times in my almost 74 years of life that I have literally waited for the “break” to come from the other side (employer/partner/friend/just plain life events) so that I am literally forced to “initiate” change. This said, once this occurs, I fully embrace and commit to my course of action. Yes, this almost always involves a period of education that is required to meet the goal or self-initiated emotional/spiritual growth. It almost feels like being propelled forward by and supported by the universe. Thank you for your insight!

I would agree. I'm INFP and my brother is an ENFP. I'm definitely more risk-averse. I won't act on something (especially something big like a job change) unless I'm 99% sure it will be successful. That's why it takes getting fired to try something new. That's not to say I never act, I do, but i'm going to analyze and process things fairly deeply before I do. I don't feel this way about art though.

Can you be both INFP and ENFP? I've been getting both since 2014 but seem to be mostly INFP especially within the past few years. I'm trying to figure out the meaning behind why I've gone back and forth between the two.

As an ENFP i go for safe routes a lot too. But my main goals are too push into riskier things, that help me grow and learn as a person.

This may be a very simple observation (that won't necessarily apply to everyone), but I've noticed ENFPs give off more of a chill, self-confident, bohemian vibe, like they are stuck in this endless internal epiphany, while it's INFPs who tend to be more playful, rebellious, and bubbly, like a teen failing to act like an adult and having fun while doing so.

I think i'm an EFNP my self... some time, i get distracted easily.. When i'm pursuing my dreams, sometime I look for an opportunity, and that's make me not really focus on pursuing my dream. It would be very nice if i have passive income while we pursue my dream, so i no need to afraid to make money for live, and concetrate to creating.. Any suggestion?

How I look at it is - do you get energy from time alone or from being around other humans? If you get the xNFP & can’t figure out the I or E, I’d look at the way you recharge because that is what truly decides if you’re introverted or extroverted. Personally, I am totally a people person, like loud & outgoing typically, but by the one of the day I am spread thin and I NEEED my time alone to recharge. Sometimes that’s a couple hours, sometimes it’s a day or a couple of days. It depends on how drained my battery is. 🤷‍♀️ I just figured I’d throw out how I figured it out for myself!! I hope you’re all well. Much love xoxox

I am an INFP while my best friend is an ENFP. She is the most fun, creative, magnetic person I have ever known and on the surface, she seems like the bigger risk taker. But she’s not. Not by a long shot. I really think this has a lot to do with being influenced by the people around her, since she is an extrovert. I tend to try to get my people on board but if I can’t, I plough ahead anyway. And if she is going to take a risk, she does a lot of planning first. I do some planning and then decide I’ll take care of problems on the fly. I also tend to get angry and dig my heels in when people tell me I can’t do something. She doesn’t ever seem to get to the point of people telling her she can’t do something. She seems to decide this on her own before that ever happens. Yet we are both very creative, individualistic people who really don’t like being boxed in.

years ago i did the test and I got ENFP and few weeks ago and just now, i did the test again and i was INFP. Can the surrounding and the lifestyles I'm living in right now play a big role in determining the types of personality I'm having? I'm curious tho.

That’s cause ENFPs are Ne dominant, whereas INFPs are Fi dominant. ENFPs are gatherers. They like new experiences that are congruent with their values, emphasis on new. INFPs are introverted deciders. All they care about is their values, which they can get stuck on.

Thank you so much! I was struggling with the 16 personalities test saying I was an ENFP because I feel really introverted and shy much of the time. I'm also a mom of 3 kids in a new state where I don't know anyone, so I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it.
This video made it so clear that I actually AM an ENFP because I did just quit my job. It wasn't a good fit already and the boss started getting snarky with me, so I decided to jump ship and do something else. It was The first job I've ever quit, but I'm so much happier now and it helped me identify with your example. The mental picture of how I respond to the fear of the future is definitely one of action. I am less afraid of change than I am of things staying the same forever. Thank you for helping me figure this out!

Hello Dan, just noticed the difference on YT between video's from ENFP's or INFP's in the way they talk. Your expressions are more open then most INFP's I've seen. You talk easier as an INFP and that's obvious a difference between those two personalities. This difference is probably similar for making decisions as an ENFP or an INFP.
I'm an INFP, have my own business and recognise everything you are saying in the video. I'm halfway my career and I'm struggling and get depressed by thinking what to do the next years... i feel like i'm not on the right track. Even going back to a boss ("safe place") is an option in my mind... I think I have to understand myself better as an INFP before i (can) make any decision. Probably an ENFP already has say it out loud and keeps going... ;0)

When I do things, I tend to destroy every safe-zone I’ve ever had.
It’s either success, or die trying. Going backwards is never an option for me.
Which is both benefits and negative at the same time, you either push yourselves through the limit, or getting depressed very hard.
    ENFP with type 8 enneagram.

I'm am ENFP who had an INFP friend.
We became 'best friends' in about six months to the point we opened up to eachother about stuff we'd never tell anyone else but then we had a big fallout because i felt like she truly broke my trust. I wanted to forgive her so many times but she never apologized. She always kept saying i should apologize for being mad at her first.
I feel like back then we were both in an unhealthy state of mind and she kinda got me more depressed than i already was. I realise i must of have done something wrong and it can't just be her fault but I'm still scared of being friends with INFPs again.
