Hi Get Fixed ...I appreciate! I appreciate ! This is my first date with this here video but I was just mentioning to my boyfriend just how much I was appreciating.. at how well spoken, to the point, get in get out pointing out fine details without boring you to tears, kicking in the ole a.d.h.d., a.d.d., and what ever else , as other videos tend to do, going on and on....and on! Much in the s a me way as I am ...rite this very instant.... Thanx yall !! {im actually looking for how to fix my droids blacked out screen...I think I fried my poor little droids ASS and im grasping at youtube
You know, I really appreciate the addition of being able to see the phone actually start up. A lot of repair guides omit that. It doesn't mean they're necessarily invalid, but appreciate the extra confidence I get from seeing the phone function again. Also, not doing the whole jUst AsSemBle iT iN reVERse, and actually showing this get reassembled. Seriously, thank you.
And dude, your vids are WAY better than iFixIt , who always seem to manage to leave one important thing out or skip a step (assuming way too much of their core audience!)
great video. ordered a replacement all in one screen, frame, etc... used this video to help guide me through the process. phone worked great until I had no sound during calls except when using speaker. used this video once again to walk me through the parts. found out I didn't snap the speaker back in all the way. easy fix, works like new. appreciate these how to videos.
Hey, thanks for posting this. I needed to replace the battery on my Turbo, and you covered exactly what I needed, and made the job a lot faster, too. Cheers!
I got it from www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011Q31SSW/ . The battery wasn't quite as good as the OEM (maybe only 90% as much capacity when full), but it has held up to daily use and turbocharging without issue, and it still has the same capacity as when I got it. So I'm happy with the kit overall.
Thanks for the video! The tool with #5 worked really well. Note, if you are just going to replace the battery, you don't need to lift the motherboard, and disconnect that wide tape connector. If you do need to reconnect the wide tape connector for the screen, put a flat toothpick under the wide tape to make it stick up a bit more and make it easier to put into the side of the connector on the motherboard before clamping it down. The white line on the wide tape should butt up against the connector when it's in place. If you touched the contacts on the wide tape with your fingers, you might leave a little body oil on the contacts. To clean that up, use a clean pencil eraser to clean the contacts.
Saved my life! Well, okay, really just saved my phone long enough to save my data. Watching this video gave me enough information and confidence to order a replace screen and fix my phone. One tiny quibble - you make plugging the mother board ribbon back into the socket look super easy! That was the hardest part for me. Apparently, I lack your dexterity.
Awesome thanks for the helpful video, I did the replacement without disconnecting the screen though and didn't have any issues. I did snap off one of the copper spring things that sit at the top left of the phone under the first cover you take off, but I was able to put it back and put the cover back on to hold it in place. The phone works fine so far and can't complain. Though I did rip part of the nylon backing when taking off the cover but it's not noticeable once the phone is put back together so I would recommend being extra careful if your taking off one of the nylon covers. Also I would recommend people to make sure they use the correct size T5 screwdriver when removing the screws otherwise you may strip them. Home Depot carries the T screw drivers pretty cheap.
Great video! High quality, crystal-clear sound, clear instructions. I will try replacing my Droid Turbo battery. Thanks for the links; I'll buy the tools through your links.
thank you for this video. My phone dropped and my battery disconected, and i immediately search this kind of video, and this video saved my money so thanks. :)
I had never replaced a screen. I watched your video and it was well made and helped me replace my screen easily. Great Job!! The only suggestion I have is that, in watching the video, I scraped of the key y charger when I didn't need to. Maybe put a caveat before that step. Otherwise very helpful video. thanks
GREAT instructional/tutorial video_ seeing the work done while being talked through it- hearing the instructions while seeing the actions being carried out- makes it much easier 2 comprehend_ - side note- u have a good voice - thanks 4 not adding distracting music or special effects_ _ thanks 4 sharing your knowledge and experience with us- your generosity is appreciated
All these videos that are posted on here are very helpful and I sure appreciate the way that the "narrator" goes in to detail step by step each instruction video. I'm pleased very much with each one. Thank you very much and BRAVO!! I will let everyone with the Verizon Android problems know about the posted videos. Sure fixed my problems with my phone!; 🙏🙏🙏
*IMPORTANT NOTE* IF YOU CAN NO LONGER CHARGE YOUR BATTERY READ THIS: Removing the back casing ripped my Qi Charger Coil. :( This affected the battery temperature reading which prevented it from charging. No obvious error, you just plug it in and charge doesn't go up. You can order a new Qi Charger Flex Cable but it takes forever to ship. I found that the only way I could charge my phone was through the "Android Recovery" Screen, that's a decent work around: 1. Ensure the device is powered off. 2. Press and hold the Volume Down button and power for 3 seconds then release 3. Select Recovery mode. Note Utilize the Volume buttons to scroll through the menu options and the Power button to select. 4. From the 'No command' screen (image of an Android with an exclamation mark), do the following to display the menu options: Note Ensure the steps below are performed in a timely manner. If power is held too long (longer than 5 seconds), the device resets. 5. Press and hold the Power button. 6. While continuing to hold the power button, press the Volume Up button then release all buttons. Good luck , even though it was a hassle, the phone is still really good after all these years, it's worth it.
Congratulations for the video. The best one I have seen. But Jerry, I have a problem with my gps. I wiped the data, flashed the gps, etc... And my gps is not working. I think that the problem is the gps hardware . Where is the gps is located? Have you ever seen a problem like this?
This is the best phone I have ever had. 4 years old. And all it needs is a new battery and a new screen due to frozen pixels. And still has higher specs than most new flagship phones.
You video helped out a lot during my glass repair. It's the first time I took a phone apart. It went pretty smoothly; I was impressed. After I put everything back together, I turned the phone on and now the touch screen doesn't work. Do you know what could be causing that? Would it be the type of glue I used? I used a very thin amount of E6000 adhesive. Or is there something I might have forgot to connect? Any advice would be great! Thank you!
Thank you for the video. How would I replace just the glass? My glass broke but the LCD is still fully intact. Or how do you separate the glass from the LCD?
Very helpful video. Getting the screen connector plugged back in is very finicky. Any idea where I can get replacement adhesive to hold the new screen to the frame? I tried double-sided tape, but it just keeps creeping out of the the frame.
Thank you for the video on digitizer and screen repair for droid turbo. My repair went just as you described. My screen works great, however, now there is no sound from the phone. I can hear telephone calls, etc. only if I have headphone or earbuds plugged in. What did I do wrong? How can I fix it?
hi - great video, helpful; only note - I was not able to get the screen/lcd out of the midframe without damaging the frame, and wish I had just purchased the frame on the front end. also, didn't realize I needed the adhesive to attach the frame. I found another video with recommendation for adhesive, which I was able to find on the same Repairs Universe site. Maybe add that note? Maybe link to frame and/or the adhesive (the other video used the red double sided 2mm adhesive - I bought that one even though the 3M of same size is same price - figured tried/true...?!)
YOU did excellent in this video, i have xt1254 with three faults i.e charger showing its charging on the screen (percentage not exceeds then 1, 3, or 9%) but not charge the battery, sim network not found, imei not show in settings. advice pls......
Thanks for a very helpful video, I followed it to a T and things went well. I have one little issue that has popped up though. I now lose signal very easily in places that I never had trouble before. Is there an antenna that I may have messed up or loosened that could be causing this and where is that located? Thanks!
BE WARNED. Thanks for the repair. You forgot to mention the Speaker is attached to the case. Also, you forgot to mention that the touchbar at the bottom of the phone needs to be put back a certain way. Now my phone is broken, the replacement speaker doesn't work, and the touch on the phone doesn't work well at all. Always nice to have a video where people leave out details that lead to you having to buy another phone.
Zack, Super nice video! The battery in my "Turbo" doesn't last as long as the one in my previous "Droid Maxx" (almost same phone) and I've been thinking about changing it but thought I could ask you a couple of questions first. 1. Do you think a new battery would make any difference in the "Turbo" or do you think it's the extra gargets that are eating up the power? and 2. I'm pretty handy but this does look rather complicated and fragile. On a scale of 1~10 how hard do you think this battery switch-out would be for the "slightly above average" person would be. LOL, Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply, I sent it back and Moto sent me a new one, back to 48 hrs again!!! I think something was wrong with a batch of "turbo's" but they are not calling it a "known Issue." what do you know about green vertical lines on laptop monitors?
+Fermin Salas You can try putting a rubber band between the head of your driver and the head of the screw... sometimes that helps grip. But using the right size driver is your best bet.
Great video! Question: What if my screen still doesn't come on but i can hear the intro come on over and over again with no sign of "life" on the screen? I replaced the LCD but This problem was also the reason for me replacing the LCD.
Ok, I used that today, but there are a lot of scratches on my screen now. The polarizer to be more technical is all scratched up. Will using loca cover these up so that this screen is actually decent?
Howdy, do you know if the droid lcd screen glass and frame combos come with a power button? I have read where some folks are having a hard time getting the power button??
thanks for the video. my turbo is experiencing power button issues, and don't seem to charge . and the qi charger also won't work . I see the qi unit in video has a tab going above itself and sticking to battery . mine looks tonbeen ripped of mine is a replace warranty model and in the end I bought the new turbo 2 but was trying to fix this one . and leads on a new qi part .I'm unsure if this is y it won't charge. but its the only thing I see wrong.
I need to switch the power button over to my new complete screen assembly. How do you get that sucker out? Seems like the bell ends that keep it in were machined/melted after it was pushed in.
Hi Jerry, thanks for the video. I have two questions. first, the usb port of my phone is failing? can I change this part? where can I find a replacement? the other question is that one of the flash pins is not working, is that fixable? thanks and cheers from chile
gostei muito a canal de video e tive o meu celular problema tentei consertar tudo do celular conseguir a funcionar tudo certo, você está explica tudo certissimo.feliz valeuuu
Do you have recommendations if a user already bought a part and it is only the screen? Is there a good video that shows removing the old screen from the frame?
it's worth mentioning that the speaker is built into the frame. unfortunately I replaced my screen as a frame, LCD, digitizer combo and didn't notice the speaker so it got taken out in the garbage in the old frame.
Is there any way to salvage or get a new replacement power button? Or is there anywhere I could buy the the entire assembly with the power button? Everywhere I checked the entire screen assembly is sold without a power button and removing it from the old frame is difficult from what I've heard.
Hey Jerry, I watched this video and used it to switch the screen from a broken Droid Turbo (my wife's), to my Droid Turbo, which had a broken screen. I wasn't able to turn the phone off before I started because the display was inoperative. I got everything switched over successfully, but the display from the broken phone (which worked fine) does not work on my phone at all. Also the phone vibrates about every 30-45 seconds and occasionally gets warm. I took it back apart to be sure the screen was plugged in and it appears that it is. Any advice? Otherwise, thank you for a really informative video.
Hey Zack got a question for you. i have a Droid Maxx and i changed the screen on it because i got the phone cracked and the home and multitask button were not working. After i did the change and got the phone put back together i tested everything and it was going good until i got to the volume down button. the actual button broke and i had it repaired but it is not a complete fix as the damage has caused it to be non repairable if i break them again. did this happen to you on this phones cause i looked and the buttons are 100% the same.
Two of the screws were stripped in the phone when I tried to replace the battery. Do you know where I could get some replacement screws so I can drill these bad ones out?
Are the connections for the LCD screens relatively universal? I shattered the screen of my Droid Turbo working at a house fire. Given its age, cost, and a few other factors, I decided to buy a new phone. However, if I could connect a cheap screen (doesn't have to fit), I could at least get some function out of my old phone. Thanks.
hi Zack, i dropped my turbo and now the proximity sensor and gravity sensor have stopped working. That means no more moto display and twist twice for camera etc. Do you think i should replace the logic board or lcd assembly?
Hi, nice video. I dropped my Droid Turbo in water. When I plug it in, the battery charging symbol comes on but it won't charge. Not surprised but I'm wondering if you think it would be worth it to try and replace the battery. thanks in advance.
Hey have you heard anything or know of any way to turn my old used droid turbo battery into a mobile powerbank? If it's cheap it would still be worth the 6 hours of batter that it still has in it.
Any suggestions on how to fix an external sound issue on a Droid turbo? I have ruled out ear phone jack only mode and can get external sound by applying pressure to the back of the phone just below the camera lens. This tends to indicate to me that I have a hardware issue, maybe a contact issue, not a software issue, your thoughts?
is the charging port easy to replace? also, if my frame got bent (don't ask) is it possible to replace the screen if I bend it back and it's not completely straight? the top 1/4 of the screen turns purple (or black or white) and blinks
+FORC3 Storm Ok.
I took apart my Droid turbo and replaced the battery after I put it all back together my bluetooth headseats haven't been functioning properly and my wifi reception has gotted drastically worse any ideas? Also when taking off the qi charger i wasnt realy able to attach back on well. Not sure of I need special adhesive? thank in advance and great vid
Can you re-assemble the phone without the wireless charging components? (The only issues I can forse are 1) if the computer verifies that it works on boot/charge, or 2) if it would run a current through it during use.) Any ideas? (my purpose is to eliminate any electrical disruption the component may cause.)
My phone only got scratched on the metal frame, the screen is intact. Ive seen the frame for only 15 bucks but the set you mention is about 200 dollars. Is it too difficult to replace only the frame?
by any chance do u know a way to fix the power button. it's no longer responding. i can't heat a click sound and it feels like it's jammed under the button cover. i really don't want to get m y phone replaced because it will be some ones certified pre owned. so I rather work with my phone because I know everything it's been through. please help. if it turns off I won't have a way of turning it on again.
hey im new here but love the video anyways my droid fell and the screen didn't brake or anything you know but once i tried to turn it on nothing happen i tried to charge it but still dead screen but my phone does vibaerate like every five min. if that helps but i dont know what to do to fix it but i did see how you open the phone up and that little string that connects to the mother bored might be the problem my phone has i hope this is enough info to help me out lol please help

Hey, thanks for posting this. I needed to replace the battery on my Turbo, and you covered exactly what I needed, and made the job a lot faster, too. Cheers!
Robert Moser Where'd you get the battery, and how is it lasting?
I got it from www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011Q31SSW/ . The battery wasn't quite as good as the OEM (maybe only 90% as much capacity when full), but it has held up to daily use and turbocharging without issue, and it still has the same capacity as when I got it. So I'm happy with the kit overall.

Thank you. I thought I broke the screen because I couldn't get it to turn back on until I read your comment. The butt up did the trick. Thanks again!
Great video! As always. I love the lack of useless fluff while still explaining everything thoroughly and clearly
Thanks. My son loves this phone and he was devastated when he dropped it. Very easy fix when you see the procedure a head of time. Very helpful.
It seems like you don't need to remove the screen or QI charging ribbon cable to replace the battery.
Thank you! So informative and very helpful!
Thank you for making a video without an annoying Heavy Metal intro soundtrack!
Awesome thanks for the helpful video, I did the replacement without disconnecting the screen though and didn't have any issues. I did snap off one of the copper spring things that sit at the top left of the phone under the first cover you take off, but I was able to put it back and put the cover back on to hold it in place. Jerry, you are so accurate in small details. Nice video!
Thank you very much for the very informative video. I replaced my battery this evening using your video as a guide. Worked perfect!

I found that the only way I could charge my phone was through the "Android Recovery" Screen, that's a decent work around:
1. Ensure the device is powered off.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down button and power for 3 seconds then release
3. Select Recovery mode.
Note Utilize the Volume buttons to scroll through the menu options and the Power button to select.
4. From the 'No command' screen (image of an Android with an exclamation mark), do the following to display the menu options:
Note Ensure the steps below are performed in a timely manner. If power is held too long (longer than 5 seconds), the device resets.
5. Press and hold the Power button.
6. While continuing to hold the power button, press the Volume Up button then release all buttons.
Good luck , even though it was a hassle, the phone is still really good after all these years, it's worth it.
Wow your videos have come a long way since this one.
Thanks appreciate it. Still rollin' with the turbo just needs a new battery.
Are you using a Stock or Custom ROM?
Me too! This phone is a f*ckin WORK HORSE!
Awesome, well produced/edited video. One of a kind in this field.
excellent video! A very in-depth video! the BEST! no heat need??
I miss the days when I could unplug the battery to reset the phone

Thank you for the video. How would I replace just the glass? My glass broke but the LCD is still fully intact. Or how do you separate the glass from the LCD?
The Sim Card Tray is 2nd. You taught me that. Ok maybe not exactly second but i remember you saying to do that before you start taking it apart.

millions of likes to you. solved my problem.
Thank you for the video on digitizer and screen repair for droid turbo. My repair went just as you described. My screen works great, however, now there is no sound from the phone. I can hear telephone calls, etc. only if I have headphone or earbuds plugged in. What did I do wrong? How can I fix it?
hi - great video, helpful; only note - I was not able to get the screen/lcd out of the midframe without damaging the frame, and wish I had just purchased the frame on the front end. also, didn't realize I needed the adhesive to attach the frame. thanks for the videos bud! is it possible to do a glass only repair on the turbo? have you attempted this?
I was able to replace the LCD n glass because of this video. thank you very much.
Thanks for a very helpful video, I followed it to a T and things went well. I have one little issue that has popped up though. I now lose signal very easily in places that I never had trouble before. Is there an antenna that I may have messed up or loosened that could be causing this and where is that located? Thanks!
Superb video. Made it easy to replace my battery.
thank you I visited your video to see if I should lift the black or white clip for the lcd ribbon cable.
white clip for the win!
BE WARNED. Thanks for the repair. You forgot to mention the Speaker is attached to the case. Changing the battery is easy. I spent more time prying up adhesive than anything else. took me less than 10 minutes.
Thanks for the reply, I sent it back and Moto sent me a new one, back to 48 hrs again!!! I think something was wrong with a batch of

Thank You Really Helped! Do U Know How To Take Out Stripped Screws
+Fermin Salas You can try putting a rubber band between the head of your driver and the head of the screw... sometimes that helps grip. But using the right size driver is your best bet.
Hey man great job..can u please tell How many speakers does it has?
Hey,great video...I was wondering, can you do the something with a HTC desire 816?

Mesha Ruu I have the same thing happening, did you ever find a solution?
I like the facecam idea, but I feel it is a bit distracting.
Just my opinion, no hate. Great job as always!
Jake Methner Ya, I cant decide if I like it. Still fun to try though!
JerryRigEverything Yup it is. I have a question, is denatured alcohol good to remove the glue?
Jake Methner Yup! Thats what I use.
Ok, I used that today, but there are a lot of scratches on my screen now. The polarizer to be more technical is all scratched up. Will using loca cover these up so that this screen is actually decent?
Jake Methner Loca does hide a ton of scratches. Yes.
thank you so much! your video help me to renew my old broken cell.
Howdy, do you know if the droid lcd screen glass and frame combos come with a power button? I have read where some folks are having a hard time getting the power button??
great! As my battery dropped to under 70% capacity. it really help for me to replace the battery!
+Jack Tsui Glad to help out!
+JerryRigEverything como o puedo arreglar el botón de Power del cel...??
thanks for the video. my turbo is experiencing power button issues, and don't seem to charge . and the qi charger also won't work .
@jerryrigeverything what is it called? a key-y charger? Great vid thanks!
0:24 Looks like I'm not the only one who turned the phone on trying to stick my fingernail between the power button and the screen.
Great straight forward video.
it's worth mentioning that the speaker is built into the frame. unfortunately I replaced my screen as a frame, LCD, digitizer combo and didn't notice the speaker so it got taken out in the garbage in the old frame.
Excellent video...no stupid music or two minute intro crap
i broke the lcd on my phone, but the replacement seems to cost more than a gentle used phone, can you tell me where i could find cheap replacements?
Thanks so much for the video,i have to replace the battery of my XT 1225.
I broke my QI charger coil (1:15) and now my phone won't charge over 5%. Anyone know where I can get this coil part?
Two of the screws were stripped in the phone when I tried to replace the battery. Do you know where I could get some replacement screws so I can drill these bad ones out?
If you are replacing the battery, don't worry about unplugging it until after you pry up the old battery.
Really well done video and tutorial. Thanx!!!!!
Thanks.
where did you get the pry tools?
man your channel is awesome, cheers!!
Lovely excellently described guide.
hello. have you found all in one frame glass screen and LCD replacement kit
found one on ebay. works great.
hi Zack, i dropped my turbo and now the proximity sensor and gravity sensor have stopped working. That means no more moto display and twist twice for camera etc. Do you think i should replace the logic board or lcd assembly?
Hi, nice video. I dropped my Droid Turbo in water. When I plug it in, the battery charging symbol comes on but it won't charge. Not surprised but I'm wondering if you think it would be worth it to try and replace the battery. thanks in advance.
where can i get the orange charging element ( the one that is glued to the battery ) from ? Mine has one of the endings ripped off.
Hey have you heard anything or know of any way to turn my old used droid turbo battery into a mobile powerbank? If it's cheap it would still be worth the 6 hours of batter that it still has in it.
Did you noticed front camera like thing on the 4 corners of the screen. Wonder what are those for ?
Any suggestions on how to fix an external sound issue on a Droid turbo? I have ruled out ear phone jack only mode and can get external sound by applying pressure to the back of the phone just below the camera lens. This tends to indicate to me that I have a hardware issue, maybe a contact issue, not a software issue, your thoughts?
hey jerry, please let me know location of microphone call.where it is?, my microphone when speaking very small, i think clean it
Thank you for the excellent video. It was just what I needed to see.
Most Excellent.
hi jerry. can u please make a video on how to replace the speaker of Motorola droid turbo.....???
Is this the same for the droid maxx 2? what a pain just to replace the battery.
is the charging port easy to replace? also, if my frame got bent (don't ask) is it possible to replace the screen if I bend it back and it's not completely straight? the top 1/4 of the screen turns purple (or black or white) and blinks
if the adhesive is taken off the qi charger, will it not stick again? and will the splash resistivity be compromised?
Thanks a lot man... Helped me alot 🙂☺️
Gracias, muy util, buen trabajo amigo. Good job !!!
+leviyid Did you figure this out?
Can you re-assemble the phone without the wireless charging components? (The only issues I can forse are 1) if the computer verifies that it works on boot/charge, or 2) if it would run a current through it during use.) Any ideas?
(my purpose is to eliminate any electrical disruption the component may cause.)
The link for a replacement battery is out of stock, any recommendations on where to find one?
My phone only got scratched on the metal frame, the screen is intact. Ive seen the frame for only 15 bucks but the set you mention is about 200 dollars. Is it too difficult to replace only the frame?
by any chance do u know a way to fix the power button. it's no longer responding. i can't heat a click sound and it feels like it's jammed under the button cover. i really don't want to get m y phone replaced because it will be some ones certified pre owned. so I rather work with my phone because I know everything it's been through. please help. if it turns off I won't have a way of turning it on again.
