Nice video, as a tuner - technician myself, I hate it when I break a string on a job, bass or treble, depending on the quality of the instrument, I will either splice the string or send out for a duplicate, either way, I have to go back and pull the string after it stretches, which is the worst part of the whole thing..making another trip.
Hey mate, great video! Do I need to know the diameter of the Broken string wire at the top in order to get the new piano wire with the same diameter or does that not matter? Thanks, Pat.
@@brighamspianoservice you said at the beginning to not splice in speaking length, but then you did. I agree. Splicing wire is almost a magic trick, especially when it occurs on the pin closest to the friction point. You didn't show pitch integrity after the repair. Sometimes you get lucky, but regardless of the extra effort, its better to replace the string. I think you do great work , but your videos should offer real results, if instructional. Best Regards
So late here just gotta say thank you very much. Two strings I broke: single string A and Bb and it worked a charm!!
Great to get practical advice from a real technician !

The "bearing against itself" is too far from the camera to see - can you explain?
