This was hard. But I think this is the one thing that stopped people from getting "true 100%" in the game. I guess that means I'll have to actually try that now.

I don't think any of the impossible chests were made that way on purpose, more likely is that either the spawn coordinates were entered incorrectly or the chests were accessible at one point in development but as they reshaped the geography in some areas those chests ended up with spawn coordinates that were no longer possible to reach through normal means

Clicking, I was thinking: "BotW is a vast game, so there's a small chance this is true, but they can't be the only person to open the chest, it's been out for years".
Now I can see, there's no way anyone else has opened that chest before. I'm sure over half of the community didn't even know this chest existed
I only learned of the existence of the impossible chests like a couple weeks before it was announced that the final chest had been opened.
I knew about it when they had the last I think 3 chests I believe about 2 years ago but then some dude opened two of them and then I watched a video explaining how this one could never be opened and well it didn't age well.
Over half? I'd say 80 percent easy

I think that the best moment in BOTW is the discover of the memory storage glitch, from the begining of the game poeple want to get the bow of light and now with this glitch you can have the bow of light outside the battle vs Ganon legit (without using hack) *and* without any drawbacks (drawbacks like, impossible to save, Ganon still here invisible shrine ...)

for those wondering why an impossible chest containing an early item exists, this is very likely some remnant of very early testing the devs were doing for the behaviour of chests or something like that.
there are some other games that have seemingly non sensical pieces of props, map pieces or some sort of interactable placed out of bounds in places you really were never supposed to be, that were found later by either glitching or data mining/modding by the community. again, these are leftovers from WAAAAY early in development when they were testing basic map and engine functions.

Also fun fact, Amber is the placeholder actor for chests. If you spawn a chest with the memory editor in Cemu the spawned chests contain amber. Likely meant to be a ends meet for chests developers add that haven't finalized contents and placement or to ensure functionality.

i’m just now attempting learning some speed running glitches and just glitches in general and seeing stuff like this being accomplished makes me realize i have a long way to go
Most of (besides one) of these glitches are useless in speedruning. Windbombing, btbing and shield clipping are much more useful (also fall damage cancels and scope clips)
These glitches all build on each other and they’re not that hard to pull off, all you need to do is to practice them. Besides, this being accomplished was not because of glitches, but because of the incredibly precise steps that you need to take in order to achieve it.
Same here! After seeing the trailer for BotW 2, I figured there might be a chance that the glitches would work there too, so I might as well get good before it releases. My windbombs are still the worst, but I'm getting the hang of it!
@@rosellarade Saying this wasn't accomplished by glitches when the very first step is to glitch through the floor is kind of... contradictory. Yeah, you do need to do all these precise steps, but the steps themselves consist of various glitches. Therefore, glitches ARE what accomplished this, in addition to lots of research on the steps needed to get there in the first place

Honestly when people find things like this, sure we can chalk it up as some mistake or a placeholder chest, but I mean the really cool thing is not the amber, its the fact that you caught a glimpse of what they were planning, I mean there are people who felt like some areas of the game feel alittle...empty or voided of something, I like to believe they had something planned for that area but changes in development probably happened, like its not the first time theres out of bounds stuff in a video game, but for every time you do find stuff like this, its a cool little nugget of the development process, but the really cool thing is how people find ways to obtain such a thing thats not normally able to be obtained, if it is just a hunk of harden tree sap, its the coolest one there is

What is the shock arrow? Is there some kinda shock arrow chilling out of bounds or is it another chest?
@@john_jarvis It sits above the overworld’s height ceiling. It takes almost half an hour of moon jumping just to get the arrow to register on the Sheikah Sensor. I would say the out of bounds of the out of bounds
@@john_jarvis There aren't many times you can collect elemental arrows without them being in a chest, but it's probably like with the shock arrows stuck in the trees and the ground on Ploymus Mountain near the Lynel. He didn't actually shoot them, they're coded to spawn there. I think there are a few more stuck in trees along the path to Zora's Domain.
@@chyuame interesting! Maybe that blunder was caused by the same person in charge of Aris Beach/Rassla Lake area where 90% of the impossible chests are located. I guess we can thank them in a way for keeping the botw challenges going in the form of extra hard master mode “shrines”

I remember a dev saying they can’t have empty chests in the game. So an item has to be placed in it. Wish they were weird ‘test’ items.
There is a known glitch to make the Gambling mini game chests empty, and you can tell the game doesn't know exactly what to do with them because it just gives you the message "Your inventory is full" and then closes.

To do a Olly Clip You have to have full stamina or more and then shield surf bullet time and when you land on the ground imediately spam jump when links body looks wierd spam jump 3 time in a row and then when link clips let go of bullet time if you want to now more go to klerics youtube channel the who made this video and go to his video
Do what the above comment said but activate moon jump as well, as it makes it easier to do and you don’t have to mash like at all

Meanwhile BotW at 3:30: So basically we super swim into barrier skip and then obliterate the underwater chest with stasis, 100 arrows and a bomb to redirect it to the cryonis block and catch it with magnesis, using basically every ability and half the glitches in the game, so that we can open the chest and obtain the most valuable item in the game: AMBER!!!

Probably just a placeholder for nintendo to just copy and paste the chest where ever it's needed and change the item inside.
They probably just accidentally spawned a chest in the wrong place, or did something that made the chest inaccessible, and then forgot to fix it. Considering BOTW has like, over 1300 chests, you can't blame Nintendo for placing 5 or 6 in places "impossible" to get to.

i just watched a video on all of botw’s “impossible” chests but it said one was still never opened. seeing this so soon after makes me happy the saga has been completed
Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me that there is a chest that you can’t get to with how much is in the game. I think Almost all in depth games like this have crazy glitches like this XD makes all the more fun when you find way to get to them like this XD
