Just started watching your videos recently. Have been following your reviews on Goodreads for a little bit. Really enjoyed these Q&A's. Very helpful as well.
These Q&A videos were great - thanks for sharing with us! I thought it was really interesting that you said you were interested in data analytics, because I’m also a bookish nature-lover and I’m actually starting a new program of study on data analytics in about a week as a second career!
@@abookolive Thank you! It’s a full college degree. I’ve done some studying on my own through udemy and such, but I’ve heard that a degree puts you in a much better position in this field.
When I am reading a "heavy" non fiction book, (usually a chunkster as in over 500 pages) I often stop at the end of each chapter and make notes. If I dont do this I will forget most of what happened when it comes to writing a review. Especially if it takes me several days or a week to get through the book. Oh and since my books are always E-books, my notes are of course done as a txt file. But when I did use to read physical books, I would never tab my books, never highlight them, and I seldom turned down the corners. Writing or highlighting my books was a huge no-no when I was a child.
Love your channel! I'm buying that Stoker candle, merlot in a candle?! Go to Vegas! But don't go in the off season in August/September. We went this year for the 5th time overall and it was a weird time to go, it was really dead and saw some bizarre (not fun) things. When you go, check out Omega Mart! Also, try the Verbena at the Cosmopolitan bar (secret drink, only on second floor). They also have a Titanic Exhibit that I haven't been to yet but OMG they redid the stairway and end of ship where you can take photos, also rememorbila from the people who died and their stories. It's a huge exhibit from what I saw. Also nearby, there is a bar completely made of ice. Ice Bar maybe? The Mob Museum is also really cool. Anyways, I'm going to watch more of your videos!
Loved ur Q&A series and enjoyed seeing ur passion on books and talking about them. I have a question about being a book reviewer cause I'm thinking about going back to school and want to ask, what courses would i have to take?
"I am atleast part robot" same haha! There is only one mental setting and it is organise and do. I stuggle with staying asleep too... Maybe it comes from being that busy kind of personality.
Yes! Come to New Orleans! I recommend keeping time on Bourbon to an absolute minimum, though. The appeal of it is way overblown. The rest of the Quarter is great, though. (Also Paris is one of my favorite teas. Great stuff!)
@@julierogers1155 Drago's is always nice. Their char broiled oysters are fantastic. Also, if you haven't already found it, there's a RUclips channel called Free Tours By Foot that has a lot of great New Orleans focused videos. I highly recommend them.
@@RandomPerson8908 Thank you very much. You do not happen to have a recommendation for an INDEPENDENT home goods-type boutique/store there. Looking for unique, NON-mass produced housewares, furnishings. Thank you again for your previous reply.
@@julierogers1155 Nothing jumps to mind, sorry. You could visit the artists in Jackson Square if you want something for your walls? Their stuff is required to be original/handmade. Nothing mass produced is allowed.
I'm a pacer too, and I dont/cant journal. Maybe pacers just arent meant to journal ? 😉🤣 I have Meet you in Hell on my TBR shelf !! I just found it recently in a second hand bookshop. I must read that next now 😁 These Q&A's have been great.
I mean in some ways you do keep a journal with your reviews. I know there are websites where you can put in all of your reviews and they would send you a hard copy. They end up resembling something like a cook book because of how it’s printed, I’m not sure how much creative freedom you get. Also if you were looking for something more crafty there are many are prepared Journals on etsy. Where all you would have to do in tape in your reviews. It’s just an idea it’s always nice to be able to look back on your work.
That's a really good point! I definitely have considered making some kind of a scrap books for my written reviews - I have some copies of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in which my reviews have appeared and it would be great to put them in a journal.
So many great questions! I’m so nosy- I would love to see a vlog.
Have a lovely weekend.
I'll be making one when I reorganize my books! It won't be too in depth, though. I'm afraid I'm a little too private to make those kinds of vlogs.
Thank you for sharing so much about how you broke into freelancing. I am really interested in this field and I appreciate your insight ☺️
Your novel ideas sound AMAZING!!
Thank you! Now I just have to write them 😂😬

Oh, that's awesome! Best of luck in your new program - is it a degree program/some kind of certificate (if you don't mind me asking)?

I can understand how you have come to read as a reviewer. I read as a writer, always noticing proofreading slip ups and plot flaws.
Lovely Q&A, it's a bit of a distant dream to be paid for reviewing books, so it was really interesting hearing about your path to it.

So it's not just me!! Definitely makes me wonder if the trouble with sleeping might have something to do with that go, go, go type of mindset...
I would like some more help starting my career in book reviewing. Could you reach out?

Where do you recommend in New Orleans, please? Any restaurant and otherwise recommendations appreciated. Taking my daughter soon.
