This is a great presentation. Very informative and useful. Thank you! In all fairness, though, I have to slightly disagree with your definition of WASHBACK. It is not simply a feedback that the teacher provides after testing. It is the overall impact (positive or negative) that testing has on absolutely everything that happens in the classroom, including the content taught, the teaching practices and the learning behavior in general, learners’ motivation, etc. It affects the choices of teachers, learners, administration, curriculum design... pretty much everything and everyone. It may boost or (quite often) hinder accomplishments. In my point of view, people blame negative washback on testing in general, whereas the real problem is lack of understanding about which test is “fit for purpose”, as well as IF, WHEN, and HOW tests should be administered. Anyway, a lot to learn from this video, especially for novice teachers. :) I came across your channel a few days ago and I’m loving it! How come I hadn’t heard of you before?! Excellent content! :)
Great presentation and understandable. I attended in a training of teaching and learning assessment, but after the class I was unclear about validity and reliability. After watching your presentation I am very clear about those materials. Again, this is very informative and comprehensive!
Thank you for the video. I have used this with my masters course students and it worked nicely to revised all the concepts related to testing. Thanks for sharing. Best.
Thank you for such a good resource! I particularly liked how Dr. Williams explained authenticity: Is this something my students will ever do with language in a real-life situation?
Hi Advanced Consulting, I'm writing a 180-Hour Higher Certificate in TESOL and I'm referencing various videos within the course for trainees to watch to learn more. Is it OK for me to include a link in my course for TEFL Lemon trainees to learn more about assessment in language teaching?
Hi TEFL Lemon! We appreciate you asking. Feel free to include a link to any of our videos but please be sure to include a reference in the course materials. Good luck!
@@ACEducation Brilliant, thank you very much. Yes, at the end of each unit will have a list of videos for trainees to get further help on assessment principles. Your link will be there, so that our trainees can visit here and watch this video as part of their professional development
