Thanks for sharing this, Chad. So meditation is amazing in of itself. But the principles behind Buddhism are more so! It’s a beautifully spiritual faith. I think for me, being raised as a Roman Catholic but by a mother determined to show me that Catholicism had its flaws, it wasn’t something I thought about until I was 5 years old. That’s when my brother Rey died basically from CF (he and my older brother were killed in a car accident but he was on a dbl lung transplant list and liver transplant list). That’s when shit got real for me. Because I was given a sweat test at 3 wks old that came back positive for CF. My parents put me on a trajectory of rudimentary treatments and CPT and all that jazz from very early on in life. So I pretty much made it a part of my life but after Rey died it was like OMG but he has the same disease as me so does that mean that’s my fate? I started to really appreciate the thought of an afterlife and the teachings of the church and with my mother guiding me it’s something I’ve kept throughout the many years. I view faith as essential to living a good life. And with as much as CF has taken from me, it has also given me such a deep appreciation for every breath I take because I’m also living for that lil 12 yr old boy that didn’t get the chance to, my brother. You could die tomorrow, like Flavio and Rey, in a car accident so death is not something any of us can escape. It will come. But what matters most is WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU LEAD. And faith does help you live a better life. Just my thoughts!
Thank you Maria! I couldn't agree more with what you said, and find that the stronger my practice is when times are good the easier it is to cope when the times are difficult. Thanks so much for watching. -- Chad
