    Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.

    Is there a good reason for why the research on the alien lifeform (ALF!) isn't done within a section of the station that can be jettisoned in a moments notice, or subjected to some super-efficient chemical agents (bleach that sh*t!) for when the inevitable happens? Beyond, "otherwise there wouldn't be a movie" ? Don't get me wrong, I just assume NASA and our co-sponsors have a better list of options than screaming when the black scientist get his hand mangled.

      Gangrel Aussie
      Well its a series of stupid mistakes... see Deadpool ran (or Floated) into the room instead of following protocal. Rescued the Black guy but it attached to Deadpool's leg. Then there was a dumb fire extinguish mechanism in the ceiling that for some reason could only be closed one at a time. They got if off the ship once, but it was trying to get in through the thrusters. They turned on a thruster whenever it tried to crawl in, but they were wasting fuel and going off course so they let it come back. Finally they had the smartest protocal. Which was to have someone come from earth and push everything into space. They didn't know that it was trapped in the section they connected too. Neither did the asian guy. The Asian guy opened the latch and the ship wasn't fully attached so the alien attacks everybody and the back up pod destroys the space station. Now the space station is floating towards earth. So Night crawler decides to get in a rescue pod with the ALF and fly into space. It grabs Nightcrawler's arms so he can't steer and they land in the ocean.. The End.

      Willie Robinson: stupidest thing from this movie is that the alien could really get back into ISS thru the thrusters... it is a space station, not a truck...

    • @enigmatic474
      @enigmatic474 7 лет назад

      yeah that's potentially the one hole in the plot - but i'm guessing the actual ISS bio-lab where such an experiment would take place IS where they do it. if anything, the mistake is by the ISS designers who didn't think about alien superpredators!

    • @enigmatic474
      @enigmatic474 7 лет назад

      yeah but given the alien is "all muscle, all brain, all eye" etc, and seems infinitely nimble & strong, they've set the rules to allow for that i think. what i mean is, if it were a humanoid alien with our physiology, of course it would be ridiculous, but its not.

    Question for everyone out there: was this movie marketed in your country? Here in Belgium there were ZERO posters, ZERO tv ads, and as far as I can tell, no wide theatrical release... despite it clearly being a big budget, BRILLIANT film! Was this also the case where you live? If so, any theories why? Perhaps they went overbudget on production and no cash left for promotion?

    For a bunch of so called reviewers they sure don't know much about the actors in it. I mean Hiroyuki Sanada is a famous Japanese actor, he has acted alongside Tom Cruise (The Last Samurai), Cillian Murphy & Chris Evans (Sunshine), he was in Lost, he was in Wolverine to name a few.

    Again so happy I didn't see any trailer or anything before watching the film. Made it a bit less predictable and I kind of enjoyed it all.
    Of course you have great actors and the characters are more interesting than is the norm in these kind of films and the ending is quite great. But it would not have had the amount of suspense and thrill and mystery had I watched trailers and knew how the plot would go before going in. Sure we've basically seen the plot and the idea before but when you don't know it beforehand, it works better.

    For Jake Gyllenhal's character to have seen the Challenger crash, he'd have to have been 4 years old.
    Does Calvin have mitochondria?
    At first, Calvin's an extremophile, and then, he needs oxygen.
    This is an unknown lifeform from a different planet. Why does the biologist know what organelles Calvin has without tests?
    How does Calvin get so big so fast?
    Does Calvin have a skull at the end?
    In biology, you never ever name a specimen. Why would Nasa let the astronauts know the name the world gave to their specimen? If they didn't let them know, the biologist wouldn't have gotten emotionally attached enough to shock Calvin.

    Next to the ending, the "Good Night Moon" part was the suckiest part for me. It felt like they just threw that in there for the trailer shots. And every time Jake G would start to talk about his father or childhood, it felt forced and out of place. Who cares about your touchy feely childhood when people are dying around you.

    Was excited to hear there is a lot of "zero G" in this movie until you mentioned a tear floating. That's not what would happen. Your tears would stick to the surface of your skin and actually form into something that looks like clear jello on your face.

    • @GirishKumarBhat
      @GirishKumarBhat 7 лет назад

      I didnt notice any tear, although there was a scene where the coolant leaks inside a space suit, it did form the shape of somewhat JellO-ish. Give it a go, its not a great film, but certainly a good entertaining one.

    Was watching this movie again last night. I frequently laugh because they astronauts do such incomparably stupid things. We're fortunate that real NASA astronauts are trained to never make dumb choices. They entire plot of this movie depends on the characters making bad choices, unintelligent choices. If you look at a great syfy movie, 2001: A Space Odyssey, the plot NEVER depends on a bad decision by a character (other than HAL, of course!). The human characters never make a dumb choice. Because of this there is great power and authenticity to 2001. Regarding Life, at least the final five minutes pays off for the viewer! Very clever ending, well done.

    Very average film. Suffered from having almost zero character development before the poop hits the fan. Nice production values, good sound, but probably needed 20 more minutes at start to make sure we actually know and invest in characters. Other issue.....a fully CGI monster is an issue as well. It’s good CGI.....but it’s still obvious CGI so always an issue. 2.5/5 at best.
