It's crunchier but it's messy. It's much more difficult to differentiate between the pitches and tones of each string in chords and lacks fullness in single notes. Also, squires are known for their inability to dial in tone or volume given their cheap pots. The upgraded pickups in the Am. Std. really are a game changer.. but that said it's a fraction of the cost to get the Squire and chuck an electronics kit in. Build is incredible on them. Still, everyone has their opinion and beauty is in the ear of the beholder haha.
I kind of liked the Japanese Tele's sound the most but that Chinese Classic Vibe had some spunk to it. Having owned both a 50's style Japanese Tele and a 50's style Classic Vibe I can get the Japanese 60's Tele probably has a much, much better neck on it but at the price of the Classic Vibe you can easily change out the neck and still come out cheaper than the finely created Japanese Tele. Fit and finish I'd say the Japanese Fenders are a step above them all. It's all in their amazing necks and extreme details to period correct body measurements. Where the USA so users general templates, Japan makes them dead on like the originals in terms of the body shape and contour.
I think right across the board, the Squier Classic Vibe series is one of the best buys out there for the price. I bought a Classic Vibe, couple of years later thought I’d upgrade to American Standard, tried one, didn’t bother.... Classic Vibe is plenty good enough.
The CVC has the best sounding neck pickup position of them all IMO. But, it's bend pull off on the low E string in the distortion section sounded crazy twangy in all positions - though it was great, brittle and wired otherwise. CVC pickups are brighter and not as hot as the Am Std so maybe it was due somewhat to less overdrive and reverb from lower signal. Also, I think the CVC comes with 9's and the Am Std with 10's which would also lead to brighter and twangier sounds including on the low E. Altogether, the CVC is the most exciting. One could def say the Am Std is more balanced, pretty sure that would show on an EQ. The Japanese was somewhat muddy, maybe a bit flooded on mids and lows. Wouldve been good to know where tone knob was set, but great vid.
As many others have already pointed out I have to agree. I think the Squier Classic Vibe 60's Custom had more snap and sting than the others. To me it sounded more like what you'd expect a Telecaster to sound like. Clear and crisp. I just bought this model a few days ago I played it at a friends music store a few times and each time I liked it more. I don't buy on impulse I come back a few times to see if a guitar still has my interest and I don't find anything I dislike about it. This one didn't disappoint me. For months I've researched this specific model on many websites and videos and I haven't heard or read anything that made me not want it.
I felt that Fender Japan has rounded and warm tone. The low frequency sounds deeper than both Squier and Fender USA. I think the reason Squier and Fender USA sounds so twangy because they have tight low end and high frequency translate so well to pc speakers. I would love to fight for Squier but I would be preferring warm sounding guitar with deeper lows when I play in front of an amp.
The MIJ needs those stock PU's throwing in the bin for either Texas Special or CS Nocaster PU's. The build quality on the MIJ customs is unbeatable. Having got that out of the way the Squire wins here by a mile.
I used to own a 62 rosewood MIJ and your right the build is great, I've owned 4 USA teles and it was better than any of them in build quality. Again your right re the pick ups-and that's true of most MIJ guitars, there not much good. However I don't agree with you re the squier sounding better, to me the brightness or snap is a little thin and I thought the USA one sounded best of the three. Still we're all different!
I just spent a serious amount of time looking into every possible tele under about £500 (USD $683).. I bought the exact same Squire CV in this video earlier today.. sure feels good to read all the comments here.. i would guess the Squire wins this comparison by a country mile! even against the USA one we all thought we really wanted but couldn't afford.
Nice!! In this case Squire is cheap but quite good as far as listening by my cheap earphones. If I could played those three of tele, I might change my mind.
I bought this model "Classic Vibe" Squire Tele. I love the double binding around the body and the sunburst. I own 6 Telecasters -American and Japanese...Love em' all! I never thought a Squire made in China would ever be worth owning, until I saw Joe Walsh with one and figured if it's good enough for Joe, must be something good about it! Gotta say I'm really impressed with with everything stock on it! These CV Squire guitars are amazing! I may buy one of their CV Basses next!
do you notice any discoloration in the double binding on the CV Squier Tele ? I bought the Classic Vibe Squier sunburst Tele about 2 yrs ago , and i notice that the binding has changed from white to cream.
All sound great (I like the Japan so much), but Squier sounds more agressive, with more presence and richer in midrange tones. For the price, SQ it´s an amazing guitar. I love it! (That´s why I have one XD)
My 62 CV squier sounded sounded a bit bright for me (I dig that tone, but just not me).Replaced the AlNiCo5 pups with AlNiCo2. It's my dream guitar now.......
1st; American Tele - Warmer, fatter sound; 2nd: Squier Tele - I play one through an older Deville and it has that typical classic Tele sound; 3rd: Japanese Tele - Just not worth paying that much more over the Squier,. Good sound but not good value.
The quality and craftsmanship of the MIJ guitars are my favorite personally, but they are lacking in the pickups as they are vintage spec to the t. So the pickups are muddy and flappy, so they don't sound as snappy as the Squier CV pickups which I prefer. If I could get an MIJ Tele and throw on something like a set of Seymour Duncan La Breas, I'd feel satisfied. But if I was on a budget, I'd most certainly be satisfied with a CVC.
I heard that Squier CVC 60s Telecasters use Tonerider pickups. Is it right? Which type? Different Toneriders used in Chinese and Indonesian (2019+) model? Anybody knows...?
+ Dan Electron. I bought a second hand Japanese 62 about 5 yrs ago. The only thing I changed was the switch and the tone cap. I think that cost me less than £20 for parts. It's the best tele I've ever played by a country mile. I paid £300 for it. The frets are spot on and I have the neck as straight as an arrow. Sounds amazing and if you think the US version would be a better option think again. This thing is unbeatable and it cost me fuck all.
I have the 60`s classic vibe custom it really is incredible, build quality , finish and most importantly sound and presence, unreal cuts through any backing, its the best sounding guitar I own and at present I have 12 some original some copies , Fender you need to pick up your game cos Asia is leaving you behind Grandma
I own the same japanese tele and it has 2 low spots: - the pickups are too weak and bright. it doesn't sounds like a tele while playing with distortion. I'm constantly adjusting the tone pot, because the bridge pup is too harsh and thin sounding - the frets are very well dressed (for being a fender), but they are not well fixed into the fingerboard. I had to level them using a fret rocker and a hammer, but it would be better fixing the frets with superglue
In retro spec one thing I noticed about the comparison that is totally biased against the American made tele is that it has a 6 piece bridge and the other two have the traditional 3 piece bridge. It is not apples to apples in terms of sound quality of a tele type guitar. The American made tele should be a custom shop replica of the early 60's custom tele 3 piece bridge then it would be more on par.
The US made has a clearer sound. When you have a cleaner sound It'll have a better response to overdrive (including pedals). That way, IMO: Japonese > US for clean sound and US>Japonese for overdrive.
I had not seen your comment. YT really sucks. Sorry. You are right. I love the Squier's stock sound, but an upgrade would be nice, indeed. I also love that it's super light, around 7 pounds and from 3 to 13oz. I've heard good stuff about the reissue. You will get it some day, man. Also, try looking into the road worn series; those Teles look awesome and sound great and are considerably cheaper. Cheers.
Dude?! I like American made stuff but, For us blue collar folk, you're not missing a damn thing by getting a Squire Classic vibe. The classic Vibes are excellent quality.
Not really missing out for me. they're ok but nothing but nothing I couldnt mod myself off of a superior Indonesian affinity series. ill Pay 150 shekels for CV or VM no more than that tho
cut the jokes just because you own a squier doesn't make it the best. I own the American standard and the squier, love them both. but no way in hell does the squier even come close!
I actually like the sound of the Squier the most. It's got the most spank out of them all.
Same here !!!!
indeed it did
'Spank' is the exact word I said before reading your comment. Squier all the way for me!
It's crunchier but it's messy. It's much more difficult to differentiate between the pitches and tones of each string in chords and lacks fullness in single notes. Also, squires are known for their inability to dial in tone or volume given their cheap pots. The upgraded pickups in the Am. Still, everyone has their opinion and beauty is in the ear of the beholder haha.
Joshua Blomfield but on the upside, good pots are the cheapest upgrade
I liked the sound of the Squier best. The only bad reviews I have heard about them are from people who don't own one.
Classic vibe, great tone, amazing neck, lower price!!! Have 2, one stock, one modified, love them!
The value of that classic vibe is unbeatable. The tone per dollar is stunning.
I'm looking to get the same one soon!
"tone per dollar" nice one!
I kind of liked the Japanese Tele's sound the most but that Chinese Classic Vibe had some spunk to it. That squier sounds really good..
I think right across the board, the Squier Classic Vibe series is one of the best buys out there for the price. I bought a Classic Vibe, couple of years later thought I’d upgrade to American Standard, tried one, didn’t bother.... Classic Vibe is plenty good enough.
Honestly I notice that Squier Telecaster Classic Vibe wins! It has the most twang tone in it!
I got one of these Squiers. After replacing the neck for an Allparts as the original was far too skinny, Now its a beast of a guitar !
I have the classic vibe it's absolutely amazing and made me sell my USA tele which paled into insignificance
They all sound great to me, but for the price of the American Tele (or less), I’d get that Squier and a nice amp and life would be good.
The CVC has the best sounding neck pickup position of them all IMO. But,
it's bend pull off on the low E string in the distortion section sounded crazy
twangy in all positions - though it was great, brittle and wired otherwise. CVC pickups

I find the Squire Telecaster Classic Vibes an excellentguitar for Contry music sound and amazing value for money.
I felt that Fender Japan has rounded and warm tone. The low frequency sounds deeper than both Squier and Fender USA. I think the reason Squier and Fender USA sounds so twangy because they have tight low end and high frequency translate so well to pc speakers. japan tele sounds great
Getting one for the summer.
I have one, The Vintage White (2015) I love it, and I didn't pay the £760 from PMT...
The Japanese Tele has a more snappiness bright end to the tone.
The MIJ needs those stock PU's throwing in the bin for either Texas Special or CS Nocaster PU's. The build quality on the MIJ customs is unbeatable. Having got that out of the way the Squire wins here by a mile.

Very good comparison. The Squier did quite well considering how much less expensive it is.
To me, it is Squier first, American Standard a close second, Japanese third.

I bought the Classic Vibe Squier sunburst Tele about 2 yrs ago , and i notice that the binding has changed from white to cream.
Mine has a slight yellowy/green hue to the binding. Looks better than the stark white when i first got it.
I'm a smoker, It happened to all my pianokeys as well :-)
The squier sounds fantastic
all three sound good, but because of the difference in price, the squier undoubtedly can always be improved with a good upgrade
All sound great (I like the Japan so much), but Squier sounds more agressive, with more presence and richer in midrange tones. For the price, SQ it´s an amazing guitar. I love it! (That´s why I have one XD)
The cv is made of alder the neck is not sticky and weighs 7.5...For the money and I played an American its cv all the way.
MIJ is reaaly different here. Less bright than both USA and Squier. But the MIJ has a sweet bridge pickup sound. I like them all.
Very good comparison vid, CV and Japan has a very2 good sound, tough competitor.
Squier holds its head up here !
My 62 CV squier sounded sounded a bit bright for me (I dig that tone, but just not me).Replaced the AlNiCo5 pups with AlNiCo2. It's my dream guitar now.......
Japanese sounds great, warm and fat. It is surprising!
1st; American Tele - Warmer, fatter sound; 2nd: Squier Tele - I play one through an older Deville and it has that typical classic Tele sound; 3rd: Japanese Tele - Just not worth paying that much more over the Squier,. Good sound but not good value.

The American does not sound 7 or 800 quid better .
I have a CV and it's great
I heard that Squier CVC 60s Telecasters use Tonerider pickups. Is it right? Which type? Different Toneriders used in Chinese and Indonesian (2019+) model? Anybody knows...?
I've been hearing incredible things about the CV Squiers. Are they really that good? I wanted to get the Player Series Tele.
I'm going with the Squier... 👍
All sound fantastic and equally good as each other. Do consider the price difference and the Squire custom wins.
Hannibal Buress would say "Sure it sounded good. I don't know about no $1,000 good though."
+ Dan Electron. I bought a second hand Japanese 62 about 5 yrs ago. The only thing I changed was the switch and the tone cap. I think that cost me less than £20 for parts. It's the best tele I've ever played by a country mile. I paid £300 for it. The frets are spot on and I have the neck as straight as an arrow. squier for more bite, twang and open
in this and other demos CV always sound more brittle and tiny compared to others. how would that sit in the mix though?
I like the squier classic vibe
I have the 60`s classic vibe custom it really is incredible, build quality , finish and most importantly sound and presence, unreal cuts through any backing, its the best sounding guitar I own and at present I have 12 some original some copies , Fender you need to pick up your game cos Asia is leaving you behind Grandma
Squire for sure sounds the best!

adjusting the tone pot on the bridge pickup is the way to go on a tele !
For me the best sound is of the squier
Damn! Squier!
I like squier's sound.
Omg why that squier much more better sounding compare to usa and japan? Any modification?
I know its crazy ....I bought one , and I love it
They brightened up the squire...buy low sell high
Is it a made in China or made in Indonesia Squier Classic Vibe?
Squier is really a tough competitor
At least, with this Classic Vibe Custom
Squire Hands down, makes the Fender sound like an old lady, And that`s not good, great review !!
Hi, what string gauges are you using on the Classic Vibe? Looks heavy..
Hafiz Hadzori 10-46
In retro spec one thing I noticed about the comparison that is totally biased against the American made tele is that it has a 6 piece bridge and the other two have the traditional 3 piece bridge. Wow, huge difference
The Squire destroyed the Japanese Tele...
Good to know.
XD
I had not seen your comment. YT really sucks. Sorry. You are right.
I love the Squier's stock sound, but an upgrade would be nice, indeed.

Clean
1.Am std
2. Squier
3. Japan
Overdrive
1.Squier
2. Am std
3 Japan
1. Squier , though a tiny bit thinner - but for that price
2. Japan
3. AM
I thought the Japan was flat, the Squier has the pop, but the American is meaty and full.
I don’t hear enough spring reverb in guitar reviews.
The Squier seemed more pronounced.
Squier
Nice!!!!
The Squier is ok
The sunburst better sound
Dude?! I like American made stuff but, For us blue collar folk, you're not missing a damn thing by getting a Squire Classic vibe. The classic Vibes are excellent quality.
fender japan
That's cool but can never justify spending 300 on a squier that's not a supersonic or non mij
You’re missing out.
Not really missing out for me. they're ok but nothing but nothing I couldnt mod myself off of a superior Indonesian affinity series. ill Pay 150 shekels for CV or VM no more than that tho
Squier has hotter pickups
To me the Squier sounds too light with clean sounds - i like both the Japanes and US way better
Squier всех порвал))))
mij wins
japan
Japan !!!
Let's just forget about MIM
Japan sound vintage
CLASSIC VIBE 👌
mij
cut the jokes just because you own a squier doesn't make it the best. I own the American standard and the squier, love them both. but no way in hell does the squier even come close!
Cut the jokes just because you overpaid a shit ton of money for the Fender don't try to justify it.
@@Zilmayjaink also I know $600 is a crazy big amount for an American standard
Squier is way too bright
JAPAN ¡¡¡¡¡
Japtele suck, squier- price-quality > wins!
