Nice quick explanation Richard. The old Motor Trade adage is, 'it's never sold 'till the money's in the bank'. I'm sure it will go Rich, as it does look lovely and your price isn't excessive but some period of warm sunshine would certainly help!
I've not actually advertised the bike on regular channels, just here on RUclips so far. I'm still in two minds to sell. Carol and I have so many plans to travel. I just want to concentrate funds towards that but selling the XSR isn't a necessity to do it. I won't be telling everyone it's sold until the money IS in the bank (all of it!) Hope you're keeping well Richard
I have so many mixed feelings selling this. Love the way it looks but nothing beats the MT10 for sheer enjoyment of riding. I'm disappointed in myself for only putting 800 miles on it in the last two years. I've got to the point I don't want to get it dirty by riding it! Just hope I don't get messed around again selling it.
Gutted about the sale falling through, it’s such a gorgeous bike, it’ll sell, no doubt. Is that a naughty small plate? Looked massive to me 😉😂 Good luck with the sale mate
🤣🤣 Yes, you do like being naughty Arr, it happens. The guy had a very plausible and personal reason not to proceed, and I'm happy to have refunded his deposit in full. Shame he never actually got to see the bike. It will sell or it won't. If it doesn't, I might bring it down to Saddlebags social ride if you're going again?
Selling bikes is a bind. It's a lovely looking machine, it will go, perhaps advertising to the tyre kickers is the only way. Never easy to sell bikes but nice when they go and you have money for a new toy. Goodluck!
For the moment, I'm not going down advertising it in the bike press. Cannot stand all the time wasters. Trouble is the bike is modified from standard, and big companies only value it on what it was originally sold as (a standard XSR900) Wouldn't be selling to fund another bike but to go towards a big trip hopefully next year.
Shame about the sale falling through. Such a lovely bike, it will find an owner. I enjoyed the little ride on it last year, it's a beauty. Someone is goinf to be a very fortunate owner of a well cared for motorbike.
Maybe it’s a sign maybe it’s fate giving you a nudge never to sell her sometimes the heart has to over rule the head ☝️there’s always a bike we should have kept I think this is definitely one of those bikes for you 😎🙏
@@Banditmanuk could you ever buy one ☝️ in that condition that’s been loved cherished and appreciated, for me if your selling her for financial reasons then that’s is a decision you follow your head but if your selling her because you think you don’t ride her enough then that’s a decision you need to make with your heart ❤️ I think you should keep her move her into the house and only ride her on very special days 😎🙏❤️
Cheers, Gregor. You never know. The original buyer was dealing with some personal issues at home. I understood and accepted his reasons for not being able to drive up and conclude the deal. I know he felt bad and offered that I keep part of the deposit. I didn't do that and refunded his deposit in full.
this has happened to me recently on a bike, unfortunately it is one of those things, absolutely cracking bike which will sell easily, very competitive price
It's our first private motorcycle sale in over a decade. We usually just P/X for a new bike at a dealer. Hoping for no time wasters. 🙏 Hope your sale eventually happened
Oh, Richard I can see and feel both disappointment and trepidation in you regarding this sale or lack of it. Had I not already owned the perfect combination of bikes to suit all my needs I may have been an interested buyer. As it is I'm contemplating selling the ZZR but I know as soon as I ride it again that feeling will change. The Rocket provides a similar thrill but the ZZR takes it to another level, one which I'm not old enough yet to want to give up too soon.
If it doesn't sell I don't really mind. I will enjoy riding it in the summer. I've got to remember it's been owned through lockdown where nobody did virtually anything for two years. Is the weather any better in Scotland for riding? Just seems never ending rain 🌧 here
I certainly regretted selling my original RD250LC back in 81. You might be right on this. So far, I've only advertised here on my RUclips channel. I don't need the money badly. Appreciate the advice 🙏
@@Banditmanuk I sold my 125 to my sister for here youngest daughter and she is also my godchild. For that reason I only aksed for 50% of it's value. The Trident is not registered now because I want it on French plate, that takes some time. But I drive the Mash Xride 650 now, 4 months after the new right knee. The Yamaha FZ1 Fazer will be ready this month so that can have his French plate. The other bikes are projects and I have been thinking of buying a Thiumph Speed 400 in red.
I know you're possibly disappointed, but maybe it's meant to be. It's too good to sell and crying out to be kept alongside the other two bikes in your garage.
Think you have summed it up quite well. Carol was surprised when I announced I was going to sell it, so there was no pressure from her. I love owning it and occasionally riding it. Now I'm contemplating, do I actually properly advertise it???
Richard, Yep, here in the USA, tire kickers everywhere. Velocity Moto mods., very nice, retro. Sweet! Take it easy, Eric C. **Funny story, advertised for 2 weeks a 2014 Honda CB1100 with tasteful cafe style mods for $10,000 just as clickbait knowing overpriced, however, the advertisement ended with " if you read this ad to the end, the bike is yours for $6,500". Three tire kicking, cell surfing, biker wanna be's responded that I was stupid, bike was overpriced and they wouldn't offer more than $6,700, $6500, & $6,300 with case of beer. I replied "never will sell the bike to you, should have read the Ad to the end". I re-listed at $7,500 and sold within 3 days at $7,300🤣🤣
Love that story Eric. Think they guy who was buying my bike originally was a straight up guy. I was chatting to him through Facebook. In the end it was a person tragedy (to him) that meant he was unable to continue, so being a decent sort I gave him his £1000 deposit back. I hate the process of selling direct but all the dealers are only interested in buying stock bike they can price through the registration details and this bike is far from stock
@@Banditmanuk Yes indeed, Facebook Marketplace or Cycle Trader for private sales is a necessary evil with many tire kickers. Good things happen for good people! Wishing You & Carol a hassle free sale to help fund your awesome trips. ✅😃

I get it. I'm a gardener self-employed working into my 60s. It's difficult to price this bike as its not a stock XSR900. If it was stock it would be closer to £5,000. No one can buy this model new now. I canvased the owners group and asked what it was worth. It's up for the lowest value recommended. I would like to sell as funds will go towards motorcycle travel (while I still can) it also means I only have to keep one bike running. It's only been for sale for two days, time will tell if anyone wants to buy. If you could buy a new old model XSR900 and get it modified it would cost around £13,000

Hi Richard, Shame it didn't sell. I would imagine there will be plenty of interest in it as its in top condition, low mileage and a fair price.
Think it will sell Richard, its just the agony of dealing with selling it privately. Fingers crossed

That's still a possibility. No one's arranged to view it as yet. Not sure if I can bear to advertise it on mainstream Autotrader.......
I would never use Autotrader. Even Ebay is better.@@Banditmanuk
It is perfect and you are gonna sell it soon in my opinion. The one who didn't come may change his mind. It is possible. Cheers Richard.

If you owned an MT10, you'd understand! But I have a number of other bikes, but most times an MT10 will trump everything else.

It is such a pain to sell a bike especially when you have mixed emotions about letting it go.
